Holy shit, your house is a fucking mess, putz that shit right now
Nicholas Murphy
room mates don't clean up after themselves. The filthy bastards.
Cameron King
I see a fucking layer of dust everywhere, get a firefighter hoose andobliterate this fucking altar of filth
Aaron Lewis
CPU: Well if you didn't have Haswell, Skylake isn't a bad 1st. Mobo: Not a bad Mobo, heard great reviews. RAM: Hmmmm, I would'be gone with Corsair Dominator IMO, just seems better with the mobo SSD: A pretty great SSD. HDD: Good, but I'd never buy an HDD over 2 TBs. Case: I love the H440, i have the White Black one. Cooler: I would've gone with the non gtx H100i. PSU: 8/10 PSU, but then again I think 750 watts is always better
GPU? Well i see that you;re waiting to the 1080, and actually good idea for your 1st GPU, as Nvidia delivered a GPU that's actually better than the Titan X.
that's just me, some fuckers are gonna say like "Hurr meme system"
Caleb Howard
nah that isn't dust it's grease I tried to clean it off a little but gave up. Grease is a pain in the ass to clean off shit.
Brayden Ramirez
my previous CPU was an 8350 so I consider this a huge fucking upgrade.
Logan James
Even the 1070 beats the Titan X, by a slight margin, but for 3-10% increased performance from a $1000 GPU to a $379, that is a fucking steal.
Asher Turner
I feel you, but I've already dropped 1400 USD might as well go full retard.
Camden White
well see if it was a Haswell Refresh/Haswell I personally would not have updated, but the 8350, oh fuck yes.
Noah Jones
Fair enough, honestly man, I think i'll just buy a Titan X later just to say I bought one. Well when they drop price.
Logan Ross
>>>/bst/ >>>/guts/ >>>/sqt/
Kayden Gray
Fuck me for trying to have some fun right?
Jackson White
Iris pro brah
Grayson Lewis
>I'd never buy an HDD over 2 TBs. Why?
Adrian Parker
a mix or redundancy and if I loose the HDD I do not want to loose more than 2 TBs. and it just feel better. Also why I have 4 500 GB Samsung 850 EVOs.
Austin Hernandez
oh also I use my PC as a media server with Plex so the 4tb will be put to use eventually
Leo Wright
I have an external I use for back ups
Carter White
Good build, the Kraken X61 is the best closed loop you can buy, better than anything from Corsair.
Good CPU, how fast is that Ram? Skylake CPU scale really well with fast CPU, you might be able to overclock that ram without having to increase voltage nor timings, you should give it try.
Ayden Cook
it's 3000
Adam Long
Okay that seems more logical for that massive HDD. But if it'll be fore media generation, I would've spent like $200 more for a 5820k & Asus Deluxe for that, though you might've needed a GPU (even the GT 210) as Haswell-E has no IGPU.
Parker Hughes
Nah, I'm not creating content. I just consume it. My 8350 is fast enough to encode the video with no hiccups so I'm sure the 6700k is more than capable. I just can't fucking wait until the gtx 1080 comes out have that rig sitting next to me with no GPU is killing me.
Matthew Edwards
there's literally a general thread for this sort of thing you nunce
Gavin Barnes
Well makes sense, but just 3 more days dude.
Luke Ross
General thread can eat my ass.
Jack Cook
oh, thats pretty fast already. overall thats a 10/10 build.
did you removed the hard drive cages?
I have the Noctis 450 which is the same chassis but different panels for more airflow, I had to remove one cage to fit my 3 fans GPU, one of the reasons why I wanted this case was because it can fit a rad on top and plenty of hard drivers, I can fit 5 inside, 6 if I had a 2 fans GPU, but it really depends on your motherboard and which pcie slot is being used you might be able to fit the gpu without having to remove the cage, though 2 fans will fit perfectly.
In general pretty good chassis for what it is, the included fans are kinda weak but pretty good as in they work and are not trash, they need to be around 1500rpm to be useful at all under heavy load though, anything below and hot air won't be pushed out fast enough, I just have them go up to 1800rpm if my coldest CPU core hits 55ÂșC+ which is usually only while gaming, since there is always a core difference between all cores I take the coldest core as base, it prevents the fans from ramping up when doing small task like when opening a web browse and so which cause CPU spikes, you case has less airflow so you might want to check that out and make a custom fan curve.
I also had a FX8350, current CPU is a 4690K, no regrets on my upgrade it was well needed.
Adrian Reyes
Yeah, I removed all the drive cages except one. I am excited to get this thing going. I haven't upgraded since 2012 so my current PC is starting to show its age pretty well.
Isaac Taylor
Also I forgot to mention that the hard drive cages can be a bit touchy and cause vibrations also if you over tighten they kind mess out the chassis shape and structure specially the bottom most cage, I like how you can fit a lot of drivers but the cages could be higher quality so keep an eye and ear on them for vibrations and sounds.
Charles Hill
If anyone is still lurking can I get some opinions on this build?
Being serious though you did go with decent parts and an exceptional case. Also the SSD and PSU are amazing, the only concern id have is with the Kraken because it isn't exactly that great in performance. Still though, liquid cooling will yield you good results.
Mason Rivera
>that preschool-tier cable management.
It's flat out embarrassing for a build, even for a child.
Lucas Davis
I mostly planned mine around teh ability to expand it if I ever want to, but I came to realize Id probably be able to do that with pretty much anything.
And its probably just my autism thats making me want a matching color scheme.
Im sure the M5 would be acceptable, as well as dozens of other Z170 boards. But I like all the features this one claims to have. But in the end its just the one I picked, I may just be getting memed, but at least I dont have the titanium edition that costs twice as much.
Hudson King
worst part IMO was the RAM, G.Skill is decent, but the ram looks like a toy.
Dominic Cruz
>Good build, the Kraken X61 is the best closed loop you can buy, better than anything from Corsair.
NZXT and Corsair buy from the same OEMs, you stupid shitfuck.
Parker Hughes
troll harder pls
Carson Butler
Gomenasai senpai.
Hunter Reyes
You dont want to look at my build then
Tyler Gomez
you can go have fun in the right place you fucking faggot
I'm not posting trap threads on Sup Forums even though they are fun as fuck
Joshua Hughes
>into traps Ha, and I'M the faggot.
Levi Smith
Use isopropal alcohol nigga
Ryder Hill
Sigh, again another retard trying to give his opinions in a topic he holds zero knowledge, doesn't matters if they use the same vendors, they units are different, just like how the h100 from asetek is different from a h100 from coolit
Joseph Anderson
>6700k Check >Asus Z170-A Alright. >G.Skill Da fuq? >850.. why not 950? >WD check >Case looks cartoonish to me, just not my taste >cooler check >psu 650, not 750 gold cert? but y?
Not bad friend. I feel you on the GPU, I did the same thing on my new build. Waiting for the 1080 using an old amd 2400hd pro. Fuck this gay earth.
Daniel Thompson
Agreed, why even buy an AIO if you're gonna leave the inside of your case looking like shit anyway. Might as well throw a fucking DH15 in there.
Luke Howard
Get the fuck out a here Linus. u know u aint welcome.
Jack Miller
>performance from a $1000 GPU to a $379, Firs.t there no need to compare it to Titan since 980Ti is same performance but for less than 540$. Second. 1070 is 450$. Third. Overclocked 980Ti offers nearly the same performance of 1080 but for 540$ instead of 700$. >nvidia marketing Holy fucking shit, it works on plebs too well.
Jace Reed
>all that extremely nice shit >all to run on a tiny piece of shit low res monitor
Why user
Dominic Moore
This. OP cucked himself.
Brandon Taylor
He actually knows more than you on the subject.
Gabriel Rivera
just a shitty test monitor that was in my downstairs closet
Andrew Gutierrez
6700k is well enough for 4k its the gpu that matters, holy fuck is Sup Forums full of retards or what
he's gaming on it, fucking hell he's not trying to build fucking skynet.
Carter Ross
He hates price per GB. 3tb have the best price per GB.
Ethan Collins
No he doesn't.
Corsair Asetek units are shit.
Nicholas Young
3TB hdd failure rate is high
Charles Myers
>860W Unless you're buying another 980Ti or two, you can cut that down to 600W easy Otherwise, looks good. RAM is fine. Don't let the RAM speed tards meme you, RAM speed barely means shit. Like a couple FPS at most, in a couple games.
By the way there is a good guy named red-ray he created a software named SIV system information viewer, it can be used to control Corsait units and more, 100 times better than Corsait Link software while only using 2mb of ram compared to the 40mb+ used by Corsair Link, he pretty much has made a better software to manage corsair units than corsair itself, Corsair can't even make their own hardware work while this guy got it done without issues, literally all the problems he has faced while writing his software are because Crosair won't give him access to the documentation for the units.
Zachary Johnson
>didn't wait for 6800k 6 core for 100 more.
Why?
Thomas Brooks
>buying into the more cores meme
Easton Fisher
Case could have been more aesthetic (e.g. no drive bays). Otherwise pretty damn solid OP.
Having your stove next to the PC is a pretty bad idea though.
Mason Ortiz
Why did you get the 6700k instead of the 6600k. If you really needed those threads you would have gotten the 5820k for the same price, and if you are only gaming you could have saved 100$ with the 6600k.
Joseph White
1. Not the same price 2. motherboard would be more expensive 3. Faster processing up to 4 cores (possibly up to 8 threads) 4. Much larger headroom for overclocking 5. Less power/less heat 6. Both would be deprecated by the time mainstream software is optimized for 8threads+, but the 6700k much less so, at which point much better and cheaper options would exist (i.e. Zen). 7. 99.9% of consumers don't need 128gb of ram
No point in gettingg a 5820k if you're not using all the cores i.e. video editing, simulation, encoding etc. and even then results are mixed (mostly favoring the 5820k but still).
Nicholas Johnson
You didn't answer my question. I asked why you didn't get the 6600k.
1. The 5820k is $320 at microcenter. 2. When you factor in the micro center discount they are the same price 3. See question above. 4. See question above (also its literally like 200 mhz difference) 5. And yet gets better thermals because its soldered unlike Skylake 6. What are you smoking. DX12 and Vulkan both can use 6 cores and the 5820k will last a hell of a lot longer than the 6700k 7. I never said otherwise
The 5820k destroys the 6700k in anything multithreaded pls.
Evan Young
>first build >probably never had a gaming pc before >I HAVE TO BUY ALL THE TOP TIER COMPONENTS BECAUSE OTHERWISE IT WILL NOT BE ENOUGH >probably ends up playing hearthstone and league of legends
What a shame.
Dylan Parker
No GPU get the fuck outta here.
Levi Barnes
Actually the 6700k is better in most games, but only by a handful of FPS. 5820k is mostly superior for shit like CPU rendering.
Adam Sanders
Never said otherwise, I just think the 6600k is a better deal and that there is no reason to get the 6700k over it.
Josiah Garcia
The 6700k will have better results in games now but it will probably lag behind the 5820k in the future. CPU bottlenecks in games are so rare these days that it's almost not worth worrying about that though. Nothing is future proof but the 5820k is just a smarter bet if you don't mind the power consumption being higher and paying a little more for a mobo.
Juan Harris
I would have got a Noctua cooler, they are cooler, quieter, less points of failure and if it does fail it does not dump water into your PC.
Isaiah Kelly
you spelt Corsair three different ways in one paragraph. Impressive.
Brody Harris
I agree, I use one myself, but I'm not surprised someone would choose the 6700k over it for gaming.
Ryder Jones
thats because they are bad.
Benjamin Ortiz
6500 is a better deal for gaming. Unless you're playing Call of Spreadsheets: Pivot Tables' Revenge, any 4-core Intel that's in production will be fine.
Mason White
Yeah same here, I'm not surprised that people go with Skylake either. Ultimately the 6700k set-up is cheaper and will get higher benchmarks in the latest gaymes out currently.
Brody King
It is like a spaghetti plate
Adam Butler
Nigga, that's his kitchen. Everyone's kitchens are a wee bit messy.
Jason Myers
I'm building a budget PC to use just for next year before college and want to know what CPU would be better for medium gaming and watching movies
i5 - 2500k (on a strict budget so will only get a $55 board for it which means no over clocking ) i5 - 4460 i3 - 6100 i3 - 4170
