Is Windows Defender Sup Forums approved?

Or is it just botnet?

Is it even needed at all and if so, what's the replacement?

Can Windows Defender™ defend me from Windows®?

No, it defends Windows from shit, you fucknugger.

No. It's the biggest piece of the botnet.

just disable it properly. that setting to have it come back on after a while is to stop idiots from disabling things for good

You have to run Spybot anti beacon, Shutup10 by O&O software etc to lock down the telemetry. For example, the "snooping" by cortana is necessary if you want to use it properly. I don't want always connected smartphone like functionality on the desktop.

Apple is NOT a better alternative in this respect. You have to change with something like CentOS or Ubuntu 14 LTS if you don't want to be a tweaking neckbeard - The Linux distrubitions SUCK currently with QA - as if they are competing with Windows 10 for suckiness.

If I were to actually disable it, I'd disable the service entirely in Services, but I'm still not sure whether Windows Defender is actually needed at all. I ran the anti-botnet batch file when I set up this system and also blocked telemetry and update servers in the host file -- now I'm thinking I should remove Windows Defender as well. It keeps giving me "New notifications" about Windows Defender having to "make a security scan to keep your computer safe"...

Specifically, with Defender, I'd leave it on and turn off the Microsoft MAPS cloud functionality, and set to "incoming files" only (scan on write).

Linux. Even M$ thinks its amazeballs.

Well there is still simple ways to disable it fully it is just that normies use Windows and they tend to click on shit at random and disable security features so personally I think it is a good thing that Microsoft are being more proactive with their security.

>Windows
>Microsoft
Hell no, nigro.

How much windows would a windows defender defend if a windows defender could defend windows?

>Windows
>Sup Forums approved
What you are looking for is Sup Forums

Not much apparently.

It's not bad compared to the competition.

Everybody on Sup Forums is a libertarian and believes anything will invade their privacy.

>Everybody on Sup Forums is a libertarian
not true, but we don't want jewish corporations to sell our info to advertisers and the NSA.

it's called not being a cuck.

Sup Forums why you so stupid?

It is botnet, but it's also decent and not as bad as it once was if you want some protection.

Akamai != Microsoft.

Who in their right mind wouldn't be at least 80% libertarian anyway.
