I'm pretty frustrated with the school I'll be going to next year. If I wanted to bring my personal laptop they will install monitoring software on it, what do you think about this Sup Forums and what would you do about it?

High schooler detected.

thats some fucked up shit homie

Install obscure SO...

Oh no, I have been discovered.
But in a serious note, the IT guy only has experience with windows machines. Should I install linux just to piss them off? Also, can you give info about obscure

That's insane. But you could probably use a Linux live CD/USB when you don't want to be spied on.

Jut don't let them install anything on your computer.

The thing is is that I have to bring my laptop because I have work related stuff on there

Reinstall OS after they install botnet.
Or install obscure OS

Use Linux. At least at UF they didn't bother to require the spyware on Linux hosts for internet access. If you need Windows, use a VM or a school machine.

Put it on a USB?

Dual-boot into a separate Windows partition, have them install the software, then never boot into that partition again. If they harass you to prove you have it installed, boot to that partition.

I think I might just do that.

once they have installed there shitting software set up a dual boot and never boot the OS with the spyware.

That's a brilliant idea, security is tight over here for no good reason so they will most definitely have laptop checks

Set up a windows VM, set it up as non persistent and exclusive mode(full screen, needs keyboard shortcuts to exit out). Then just close the VM

This is easy. I'll assume that they just run a simple exe and install it. I doubt that they'll check to see what you have installed or how many partitions or drives you have. I say you should do one of two things (and I'll assume you have a standard windows installation since you got it)

1) install loonix on separate partition
2) Let them install the spyware and install Linux later (good if they take it overnight or reboot it)

Instructions:
>Get a 16GB USB drive. 8 is poo in loo.
>Download an ISO image for whatever distro you like, I highly recommend Ubuntu MATE or Gnome
>Download the Rufus tool
>plug in the drive and find it in the very first drop down menu
>Ignore everything up until the drop menu that says "FreeDOS" and select "ISO image"
>Click start
>Click yes to format the USB (will wipe everything off it permanently)
IF YOU PLAN ON USING METHOD 2 STOP HERE AND CONTINUE WHEN YOU GET THE LAPTOP BACK
>Plug in USB stick and boot into it
>Be sure to encrypt it and install GRUB bootloader so you can switch between Linux and Windows later if you so choose
>Watch YouTube tutorials if you have questions or ask in the stupid questions thread here

what uni is this? how could they have the time to check every students laptop?

This is just what I was looking for, thanks

Watch your porn as you please with no shame. Who cares if they know what your into.

I second this. Where is OP going?

>how could they have the time to check every students laptop?
They don't. OP is full of shit and retards bit the bait.

>le school is forcefully installing le monitoring software on my le notebooke! xD save me from the le botnet! doesn't this make you le mad?

Just fuck off.

Hogwarts.

A thread were "Install Gentoo" is a real solution.

What reason do they give for this ?

...

lol epic

this is one of my favorite jokey meemay pictures

If the school is draconian as the OP suggests, which is unlikely but whatever I'll take the bait, then the administration will notice that the machine hasn't come online in X amount of weeks and investigate. Then what?

>Oh I use a different computer.
Ok let's see it so I can install the botnet.

>Oh I don't use a computer.
Fuck off.

>I, umm...
We're going to look deeper into this computer. Oh, that's funny, this computer released after 2012 only uses a 60GB hard drive and the last entry in the event log happens to be the same date where we inspected the computer... strange.

You should help OP get ready for penis inspection day.

You would be retarded and going to a retarded school.
>uninstall the program, that's it
>make them install the program in a full screen VM

>school this draconian

Either this is a high school that your parents are sending to you to (so it's a prep school and you should consider yourself lucky because $POLITICAL_CONNECTIONS) or they are control freaks and this is Liberty Unversity or some such idiocy.

If the latter, say "fuck you" and leave, and go out on your own.

It will be tough and you'll have to make your own way working shit jobs, but you will find self-esteem and better people. And if you turn 24 and you still haven't been able to come up with funds on your own, suddenly the colleges and universities have all this money to throw at you as an adult.

Also, go to a community college for your gen-ed and make sure it's transferable to the college/uni you want to go to. This will save you loads of money and sanity.

Speaking as someone who should have told his parents to go fuck themselves with their passive-aggressive hostile-dependence at an early age, don't do my mistake and try to appease them. You never will, and you will save yourself $$$ in future therapist visits by recognizing this and dealing with it the perceived hard way, which is actually the easier way.

>penis inspection day
So this is like the retarded Sup Forums version of that?

Sup Forums has "Penis Inspection Day" to troll newfags, and we have "Botnet Installation Day" for the kiddos to bite on?

Swap out hard drives after they install it. How retarded are you? Also you can easily install a firewall and block outgoing traffic to their IP.

the fuck kind of school is this
honestly this sounds more like your parents doing it to you because they saw a special on fox news about 4chin

...

They're not allowed to do that

Just install Linux Mint or some really easy to use distro

They can't install stupid software to it thats not specifically made for linux and they can fuck right off

Or don't be a beta cuck who wants to show off their laptop and just instead. Seriously, why would you want to bring your laptop to school?

That looks like an awful school.

murrika land of the free

>brings in ibm thinkpad from 1995

So OP is going to a Norwegian prison?

tell them to fuck off and bring in my laptop with a encrypted LVM anyway

>ctrl+ f "install gentoo"
>only one result
i am disappoint

Can we see your schools code? Like were it states you need to do this? Like those things are not laws, schools cannot force you to install shit. Just tell them to fuck right off.

This is retarded, just protest or not bring your computer. Installing Linux might let you get away with it.

For the curious, it's a prep school. OP deleted the doc.

Students may bring personal electronic devices to Chinquapin for their academic work. This includes laptops, tablets, e-readers and desktop PCs. In order to protect the students, faculty, and school, all students who bring computers must follow the guidelines listed here. If you have questions, see the Director of Information Technology.
• All students who bring personal electronic devices must register with the Director of Information Technology by filling out the form below AND must submit the device for a security inspection and installation of monitoring software.
• Students may use their computers for academic use only.
• The students are responsible for the security and care of their own computers. The school is not liable for theft, loss, or damage to computers on school grounds or during school-related activities.
• Students understand that activity on personal devices will still be monitored while in use on the Chinquapin network.
Students may NOT use their computers:
• during class or Study Hall without teacher permission
• to play games, watch movies, or for any other non-academic purpose
• to copy or store data or software found on Chinquapin computer systems
• to hack or otherwise disrupt Chinquapin computer resources
• to create, store, or distribute data or software that is disrespectful, offense, hateful, that harasses or bullied others, or that suggests violence towards any person, sex, ethnic group, or race
• to conduct business transactions
Violations to the above policy will result in loss of privileges. The computer will be confiscated and returned at the end of the week. Students will be asked not to bring the computer back to campus. Subsequent violations will be handled according the prescribed schedule of disciplinary consequences.

Draconian if you ask me. They will probably monitor the network too so fire up tor and an vpn.

I assume you're not underage b& and are talking about university. If this is a K-12 school and some shitty BYOD program then you've got bigger problems, since circumventing their policies can get you in some shit.

When I was in Uni you had to either run a verification agent, or for devices that couldn't run it (like an Xbox) you had to call in and have them register the MAC address manually. So I called in and told them my laptop was an Xbox and had them register the MAC address. If they've gotten any smarter about it you could probably use a legitimate MAC address from a console and spoof your PC's MAC to match it. And for good measure spoof the user agent to match the console.

If you're lucky and they're not assholes, you could probably just tell them you run Linux and that their agent isn't compatible.

Regardless of how you do it, you should tunnel all your traffic over an SSL based VPN afterward. Because chances are your university keeps logs for at least seven years (if not indefinitely) as part of a legal discovery process, which is a gross invasion of your privacy.

Pretty much just listen to this guy.

LITERALLY just install a Linux distro (the less accessible the better) and they will not be able to install anything. (Do a backup just in case obviously.)

Install chromium OS.

Now that I'm aware OP is talking about a Grade 6-12 prep school, most of what I said doesn't apply. It really depends on what type of monitoring software they want to install. Based on the policies from , they could install CrossTec or something similar, at which point you're fucked because your teacher will obviously notice you're using a PC that they can't connect to.

Realistically, OP should stop hassling the IT department and actually use his time in school for education.

You mean GoogleGentoo? Because thats literally what it is.

Why would a stock photo about online spying use an old-as-shit iBook G4?

>Install monitoring software on autist son's laptop
>Check it in 2 weeks
>Google furry because you don't know what the hell it is
>Contemplate suicide

yes, they will know about all the weird porn you look at

no, they will put something like cleanaccess if anything. its not a big deal.

dont like it? dont use their network and be some special snowflake to brag to your turbo nerd friends
