After 8 or so years I am going to change my bitching gts 250 to something new. probably gtx 970
I've been completly out of the loop since "fire burning on the dance floor". So how do the manufacturers try to fuck you over nowadays, what should I look out for? Before it was >Buy this gpu for 1$ less and get this locked, cut in half bastard of a card that just begs you to kill it every time you open paint!
>this locked, cut in half bastard of a card Well... this sort of describes the 970.
Aiden Reed
Nvidia fucks you by giving 3,5 instead of 4GBs
Eli Jones
just save and get the 1070 then. 970 is on its way out.
Justin Price
wait 2 weeks and get a 1070 desu
Kayden Nelson
Wait another four weeks or so, then set yourself a budget for your new GPU and look at benchmarks of cards within your budget.
Get the GPU that offers the best performance at your price point.
Dylan Jackson
Which is a lie, because there is 4GB when you need it, it just utilizes a very slow ~512MB. Honestly, you're better off hoofing it to the GTX980. You can overclock some of the better non-ref coolers and achieve near 980 Ti performance.
James Sullivan
I get it, but hey, anything better will cost 1.5 as more, and I don't really see the point. It seems to be Ok in that price range so I don't really see any other choice. Besides I am planing to sell it later, when I'll have more cash for a complete upgrade, cause currently I have a nigger rig, that was put together over the years with cheap or free stuff
Camden Wood
>Get the GPU that offers the best performance at your price point. It still baffles me that people need to be told things like this.
Chase Campbell
Won't it cost like how 980 costs right now? I was under the impression that this is the trend that they follow in pricing
Jackson Wright
But isn't it 970? I'll admit I didn't do much research, but that's mostly because I don't see anything even close to that price range.
Camden Miller
the 1070 is $380, $50 more than the 970. the 980 is ~$500.
Juan Baker
I would say the 970 is a fantastically priced card for the power. A lot of hyperbolic retards will tell you it's worst thing since polio because of the 3.5 controversy, though.
I would do what this user said and wait a short while for the next gen of cards before making your choice.
wait for the 1070. if you can't afford it, at least the prices for the 900 series will drop.
Camden Rodriguez
Waiting for the 1070 to come out would be the smartest choice yeah, I might end up doing just that. Thing is deciding to get 970 was kinda of an impulse thing, cause I am bored as fuck and want to play new vidya.
Do you think the prices will change much after 1070 comes out?
And yeah I know about the 3.5, but I assumed it isn't that big of a concern since rarely a game will eat up more than 3gb.
Jaxon Martin
this, thinking about buying a 970 too once 1070 gets released and prices drop.
was thinking about getting a 390, but its more expensive than a 970 and offers less performance too. AMD is the real jews.
Robert Turner
I like my PC runing hot
Easton Myers
I wouldn't buy a last-gen Nvidia card now. They'll bribe game devs to put all kinds of bullshit Gameworks stuff into new games again, which will end up gimping both AMD cards and old Nvidia cards.
Isaac Roberts
1070 has HEVC hardware decoding & VP9 hardware decoding, it's just silly to buy a 970
Wyatt Roberts
I dont think software gimps AMD cards. Its their hardware thats shit.
Isaiah Jackson
So im just gonna throw this stuff out here, wont the 970 be hamstrung as soon as nvidia stops optimizing the driver so that it never goes over 3.5? I could imagine this happening at most half a year after the 1070 is released
Liam Morales
*pic, preformance comparsion 970 vs 390
fucking AMD, almost got jewed into buying the 390.
Zachary King
There is truth to Nvidia working with some game devs to bork AMD hardware.
See: Godrays for Fallout 4.
Brandon Jackson
only you can limit the tessellation in amd drivers, cant in Nvidia
Evan Stewart
godrays in fallout 4 tanks performance on all GPUs, not just rebrandeons
Jose Jones
its a known Nvidia shill site now, so no surprise. Do multiple comparisons of different cards and watch their overall score change.
Andrew Kelly
It's worse on MAD cards.
Adam Ramirez
I would even buy the 390 even if it performed worse than 970, but the fucking thing cost more than a 970.
Fucking AMD is ridiculous, they pray on the lazy people who dont check benchmars and dont know how shit their cards perform. Literal jews.
Logan Adams
Is that so, shill
Michael Fisher
You can find 390s anywhere from 180 to 340 bucks.
Adam Anderson
meant $280*
David Nguyen
Ah, I like those charts, they basicaly tell you nothing.
Logan Young
The 390 benchmarks higher in nearly every game, especially in dx12, what are you talking about? The extra VRAM also makes it more future proof. Wait for 1070 and Polaris. They're both very close to releasing.
Liam Evans
Fucking exactly. Guy should do his own research.
Justin Thomas
of course I'll wait. I might even wait to see what AMD releases before purchasing. Not in a hurry.
Jack Baker
Op here. Nah, I am not even going to consider amd. Too much complications, without any significant performance gain
Brody Martin
IT'S 35 DOLLARS CHEAPER AND 1 FPS FASTER IN 3 GAMES NO ONE WILL PLAY! AND ALL THE DRIVER PROBLEMS ARE CONSPIRACIES BY THOSE JEWS AT NVIDIA!
You're such a fucking casual to be quite honest familia. I am shaking my head here in disbelief and disgust.
Alexander Young
>won't consider all of the market's choices >fanboying a corp >blindly buying
good goy, schlomo.
Cooper Sanchez
There was a time where I would consider, but... The gain that it gives you isn't worth he troubles it gives you. For whatever reasons.
Sebastian Miller
What troubles? I'm not really sure what you are talking about?
Jose Taylor
What the fuck are you talking about, what troubles?
Jaxon Watson
Really you want a 390 if you're getting something from the last gen, but 1060 should offer 970 performance at a much lower wattage and with more features. Don't forget about the 480 as well
