Can a bad sata cable still function but make your computer run extremely slow, with ridiculous boot/shut down times and program launches? I've been experiencing this on my 1tb hard drive which holds Winshit 10
Can a bad sata cable still function but make your computer run extremely slow...
>he doesn't own an ssd
>HDD
>Win10
Two problems here.
It's literally just a wire. There are dozens of complex things that can actually fail, don't blame the wire.
An 850 Evo is probably my next purchase, I know.
it's copper wire transferring digital information
if it works, it works
if it doesn't, it doesn't
>what is packet loss
If your C7 from smart is greater than zero, then yes - otherwise it's not cable.
nope.jpg
Not when the cable is running at at Mhz fequencies. It can act as a radio and jump the gap of broken wire. Then the error correction starts piling up and it half works.
Happened to a usb interface to a helicopters autopilot i was working on.
t. avionics radio tech
So in the matrix it looks like water leaking?
Yes.
I even had a badly shielded sata cable placed near my GPU which generated a lot of electrical signals, and it caused my OS to crash.
Yes, it's possible, but it's unlikely. It's much more likely your harddisk or maybe motherboard are broken.
Interesting
I hope not
this comment smells like a bunch of bullshit
I bought both in November last year, but the motherboard is most likely to be bad becuase it's shit. I could try plugging it into one of the sata express slots instead of one of the TWO FUCKING normal satas it has
Swap out sata cable with known good cable and see if performance improves. I doubt cable is the issue but maybe.
No, it either works or it doesnt.
Go to
Your HDD is probably fucked.
Download speccy or cristaldiskinfo and post your SMART Data.
No bullshit man, the cable was touching the GPU's VRM area. routing the cable away (or replacing it with a better shield cable which I did later) removed the crash.
I have speccy, will post when home.
This isn't true.
I use SATA cables that are completely unshielded, with next to no casing on them at all.
These SATA cables are used in servers, with an incredibly high reliability.
No. It either works or it doesn't.
Will post smart shit soon
Yup had this issue recently, reseated the drives and cables and worked fine
They use PATA cables in the matrix. That's the reason of instability.
What case?
Forgive my ignore what does
t. blank
Mean?
See it in posts lately and just curious what that context means
Umm shit not sure, originally bought it off a friend in 2012 and upgraded all the components since. I drag my tower to VJ / A/V gigs and apparently my OS drive had the sata cable come sliiiightly loose.
Maybe you're not supplying enough interference, see
I had it happen. Not 100% sure if it was bad cables or a bad connection at the terminals. Either way, start up was extremely slow, with SSD and without.
Your windows is bad prob.
How did you fix it?
That's what it fucking feels like becuase I've had nothing but issues. It was a legit purchased copy though.
Try a full reinstall
I feel like my whole computer is just degenerating. All these issues began for no reason, steam started taking ages to "verify installation", my mouse driver stopped launching at start yesterday even though Its set to do so, I just wanted about 4 minutes for a right click menu to come up... Im starting to hate this fucking thing.
ITT: Sup Forums stops posting in gpu threads long enough to show how little it understands about rf and transmission lines.
I run over 3GB/s over these SATA cables on an hourly basis, and they're literally touching several core parts of my GPU and motherboard.
No problems, at all.
>packet loss
That's only for networking you dip shit.
OP HERE
finally got into fucking speccy. Took about an hour. Anyway, everything is green across the board.
You know, you probably have a rootkit or someshit on your computer..
100% disk usage though, AS ALWAYS
I had an issue with one of my drives running slow. SMART was all good, reseating and different ports didn't do shit, replacing the cable was what solved it.
I really don't think so. As far as Internet, I've been on Sup Forums, Facebook, youtube, and I've only installed programs from their own websites like msi afterburner and cpu-z
>hurr durr its digital it works or doesn't
...The fuck do you think "doesn't work" actually looks like? Didn't we just have this argument last week with chink shit HDMI cables?
what does chckdsk /f tell you?
It's gay shit from ylilauta.
Basically "greetings".
Tried a new cable and different ports, I don't know what to do.
I'm just using the check button under properties for the c drive. It's the same thing right?
Just go type that in admin cmd.
I assume you quoted wrong. I did the other way, it got stuck and started incrementing the time by 5 minutes every few minutes, I canceled, now it's stuck canceling. Probably just going to go ahead and kill myself at this point.
Just copy what you can off the drive and format it.
:/ yeah. That's what it's gonna be. Never formatted a drive before, what happens to the os if I don't have the disk that it came on anymore?
That's exactly what you would say if you had a rootkit.
Hm?
