I used to use deadbeef as my audio player on Linux. I recommend you check it out.

Use vlc. It's great for audio and videos if you're Not a weaboo or audiofile. Comes pre-installed with every codec you'll need.

>vlc

There's a foobar2000 wine wrapper in the AUR.

>foobar2000
cruch :^(

Just use mpv.

Using a video player as an audio player is some geddo ass shite m8s

It's a "Media player" retard

Like a moth to the flame-bait.

Thank god it runs under Wine, there really is no equivalent

Just seems fucking stupid though. I don't even think you can show a folder structure from within them so you would need to play each song from a file manager. You would also need a playlist for each album. Which you wouldnt have the track listings shown for what's in the playlist.

Why do you think this is a good idea?
I could see it working if you listen to 20-50 assorted songs from a single folder you leave on shuffle.

>you can show a folder structure from within them so you would need to play each song from a file manager.
Wrong again. Go install MPC-Qt

It's not a smiley, it's a saddy, you fucking nigger. :^(

>using the smiley with a carat nose

DeadBeef and Audacious are usually fine alternatives.

>mpd + ncmpcpp

You fucking sad shit. Stick you emoji or smiley or whatever you wanna call it up your fucking arse!

Doesn't anybody else use mpv for everything?

>not using Rhythmbox

Use Deadbeef if you don't need the catalog bloat.

No, thanks, I'm vegan.

...

I'm using mpv, because I have very little music on my computer (no I'm using Spotify or something like that). It's feature to quickly play all selected files in a playlist is very handy. I love mpv.

Indeed. I tend to just throw a folder at it and let it do its thang.

I don't keep music on any of my machines locally
I have an mpd server running on my fileserver and just a client on my main machine. There's no speed or buffering issues since it's on my home network and I can access my entire 80gig FLAC collection from even my weakest netbook.
Foobar has nothing on this

*slow claps*

*steps out of the shadows*

Heh... not bad, kid. Not bad at all. Your meme, I mean. It's not bad. A good first attempt. It's plenty dank... I can tell it's got some thought behind it... lots of quotable material...

But memeing isn't all sunshine and rainbows, kid. You're skilled... that much I can tell. But do you have what it takes to be a Memester? To join those esteemed meme ranks? To call yourself a member of the Ruseman's Corps? Memeing takes talent, that much is true. But more than that it takes heart. The world-class Memesters - I mean the big guys, like Johnny Hammersticks and Billy Kuahana - they're out there day and night, burning the midnight meme-oil, working tirelessly to craft that next big meme.

And you know what, kid? 99 times out of a hundred, that new meme fails. Someone dismisses it as bait, or says it's "tryhard," or ignores it as they copy/paste the latest shitpost copypasta dreamt up by those sorry excuses for cut-rate memers over at reddit. The Meme Game is rough, kid, and I don't just mean the one you just lost :^). It's a rough business, and for every artisan meme you craft in your meme bakery, some cocksucker at 9gag has a picture of a duck or some shit that a million different Johnny No-Names will attach a milion different captions to. Chin up, kid. Don't get all mopey on me. You've got skill. You've got talent. You just need to show your drive.

See you on the boards...

I was going to call you names and stuff, but honestly I'm pretty jealous.

i switched to cmus
only music players i don't find shit are customised fb2k, itunes and cmus.

It takes like 10 minutes to install mpd on a debian server dude
Heck I'm pretty sure there are mpd clients for windows and installing debian onto an old machine for a headless server takes an hour max if you know what you're doing

How does any of that take several minutes? Are you manually resolving dependencies?

>sudo apt-get install mpd
Thats 2 mins if you have a fucking trash internet connection
>5 mins to read the man page and make a config folder
>3 seconds to point it to your music directory
Done.
Add in another 10 mins to install a client on your machine and that's it.
>Are you manually resolving dependencies?
You don't understand what this means

You can with VLC. If you have a good ordered collection (e.g. Artist/Album/Song) then you'll be fine. As for mpv it is possible to make it a great audio player using a lua script.

For last, folder structure is a file manager's job. If an audio player provides a library it has to be using the id3 tags, otherwise it is doing what another software should.

You can use wine for foobar. Or just use Rhythmbox like a normal person

I haven't seen that one before.

Its not funny or interesting anymore. Instead its just a sad reminder about your failed, pathetic life, that you continue to piss away, drooling on the internet in a mindless self perpetuating cycle of OCD that is reinforced by repetitious Sup Forums posts. You feel the need to share that cycle with others, which is tantamount to you sitting in the corner, rocking back and forth, singing "Brown bear, brown bear" until someone forcibly medicates you and smacks your bottom.

Please, log off, and get help. This is not a healthy reaction to life. It indicates a serious problem. I'm not sure what sort of abuse you suffered, or what trauma you lived through, that drove you to this point, but it doesn't matter. You can get help, there are places and specialists that have devoted their lives to aiding people just like you.

you can make a break from your sad, failed life, and live something approaching like a normal life. You may never be totally human, but you can at least experience society in a context outside of a computer monitor.

- your Sup Forums friend.

I use it because f2k has a few problems with WINE, but it not being able to be customized the same as f2k throws me off a bit

>implying i can install it
The thing you have to do to install it never works for me...
