General CPU Thread

How did I do, Sup Forums? I got the CPU for US$15 and the motherboard for a solid US$100.

What CPU's are you using on your main PC's?

...

>Sup Forums is NOT your personal tech support team or personal consumer review site.

What cooler do you have for the CPU? I have a 212 evo and it can harly cool 4.3Ghz without reaching the thermal limit.

Thermalright HR02 Macho.

5820k

$175 for CPU, mobo, 212 EVO, 8GB (and got another 4GB free elsewhere), and case

$175 for 3770/12GB/500GB XPS 8500.

...

>6 core CPU
>still the highest single core performance in the thread

5820k really is the 2600k of 2015.

rate my overclock

Kill you're self

Bump

>that cpu-z

>not using superior BLAZING FAST red color scheme

that voltage

the fuck are you doing son, thats more than my 2500k needs for 4.5ghz

He probably paid more for his water cooling than I did for my system.
I could OC the 4670k way higher but I just keep it to a stock volt 4.0GHz so it stays silent while encoding.

...

>He probably paid more for his water cooling than I did for my system.
Is $150 more than your whole system...?

Not counting the 5 drives, it was $285 w/ a 7870.

muh 6700k

So to recap, no, I didn't spend more than your whole system on my cooling.

Just more than half.

I spent over $800 on hard drives, what's your point?

If you go dumpster diving eventually you'd have had most of that for free.

Not OP here

Should I wait for Skylake X? I can buy a new desktop PC next week already

bought it in 2008

Can't OC?

6yo.

back in 2008-2011 I used to run it at 3GHz, but haven't bothered since.

Anybody? I mean I know it's objectively better, but is it worth the wait?

whats sad is piledriver didn't increase ipc that much... 4ghz piledriver (8350) scores around the 900 range for single threaded.

~~~250 score increase with a 1200mhz increase.
all piledriver has the phenom generation beat is core count.
Breddy gud considering.
>4.7GHz
>still 30% lower single core performance than a stock 6700k
>newer cpu is faster than older one
SHOCKING NEWS.
Not just that, but slower by a significant margin, while being clocked 700MHz higher.
Once you OC the 6700k it would be greater than 50% performance difference for single core.
Autist still thinking speed = performance
we can pull out cinebench R11.5 if you want to embarrass yourself.
fight me faggots
>he fell for the 6700k meme
Used to have FX-6300 so I kinda miss having 6 cores
Wish I had picked the i7 instead of this piece of shit.
>m-muh IPC
It will obviously win, but your arguement with the .7 ghz oc is retarded. It's just an old cpu
>TDP ~178W vs 45W
>literally 4x TDP
>worse single thread performance
>only 48% better multi thread performance
>while being newer and supporting more instructions
Can't make this shit up.
>Buying a dieshrink of Nehalem instead of any SB
>VT-x
It's clocked 700MHz faster, while still being 30% slower, that's significant no matter how you slice it, especially when compared to the OP or similar CPUs.
The Vishera CPU design came out in October 2012, the 3570k released June of 2012. Several months earlier.
as we can see here The 3570k once OC'd easily manages to match the stock 6700k scores and it came out long before your 8320e (which while based on the 2012 design, released in 2014)
>what is AMD-V
Something not locked behind various skus, thats what.
That is one shitty silicon (for 22nm Ivy) with vcore so [email protected].
I can only wonder how hot that fucker gets with the TIM'd IHS (or have you removed it?).
My 4670K scores below average.
Stock clocks.
1.34v gives me 4.6ghz ever try anything lower?
>1.4v
kek, that's disgusting mate.
I can ge 4.6ghz on my 2500k with 1.34v
You did quite well. Perhaps in the future you will upgrade to the X5650?
Bump
>tfw spend €1250 on my WC cooling.
Still going strong
