Stop implying Sup Forums is a tech support board. Posts like yours is what causes this mess

What does OP's question have to do with tech support?

>the google meme
Aren't you ashamed of this?

>google
fuck off cia nigger

>are really dieing
Grammar is also an underestimated cause.

>Does a laptop battery degrade
It starts as soon as they are made, for Lithium batteries at least.

>batteryuniversity.com/learn/

Your goal should be to keep the battery between 40%-80%. Every month or so, let it run all the way down to zero before charging it back to 80%. Your welcome.

God forbid users on an image board dedicated to the discussion of technology actually discuss tech related topics.

>semen demon

> Every month or so, let it run all the way down to zero before charging it back to 80%

Yeah, no. Don't do that, I've read before that lithium ion batteries aren't supposed to ever hit zero. Keeping it between 40% and 80% would be optimal.

Do you happen to know if the laptop stops taking charge after 100%? It would be a hassle to keep taking the connector on and off just to keep into those percent ranges. In my system profiler it says:

Fully Charged: Yes
Charging: No

Can I just leave that connector on and discharge once a month as needed?

They're supposed to quit charging once the battery hits 100%, but I honestly do not know. I do know that keeping the laptop (and battery by extension) cool is preferred. The user manuals for Dell at least tell you that if you're not using the battery to store it in a cool place.

Personally, I just keep the battery in and discharge whenever I remember, and it's been 5 years and it still holds 98% charge.

I believe you are also supposed to store batteries at a half charge if your don't plan on using them for a long time, like you said in a cool space

Once the battery hits 100% it will cycle between discharging and slightly charging. Every modern phone/computer/whatever will do this

And I'm assuming that degrades the battery?

This is correct except, possibly, for the discharging part. 40%-80% is optimal. Discharging will let your system calibrate it's battery meter, which is arguably, essential.

Li-ion will never hit zero unless you leave your system discharged for a long time on the shelf. The battery's built-in electronics will shut down your PC and say '0%' long before the battery actually becomes fully discharged.

Storage voltage is approx 80% of max voltage on lithium batteries.

> 40% - 80%
Is it even functional to use a laptop then? That just seems annoying

on modern laptops it shouldn't matter.
Not that I have any idea what that means, I just read it somewhere.

Thinkpads don't have this problem. :^)

>using the smiley with a carat nose

yet macbook's batteries last twice as long and don't have to do stupid stuff like this

>macshit
>battery life

Pick one.

I'm talking about how long the battery is still useable, not how long the the computer lasts on battery.

2 rupees have been deposited in your loo Rajeesh.

oh wow, a laptop that costs just as much at a macbook pro actually has a battery that isn't terrible
and you only have to pay an extra $75 to get a battery that isn't terrible
also do you have a link to that specific article?
because macbooks have literally no special power saving features when under load, and I bet that that turbo gaymen laptop was running at 3fps on throttled integrated graphics, while the macbook was going balls to the wall

>2013

>I bet that that turbo gaymen laptop was running at 3fps on throttled integrated graphics, while the macbook was going balls to the wall

>mactards are actually THIS delusional
lmao

Not even Acer is as total garbage as shitbook toddler toys for gullible morons.

everyone knows that the 2015 macbook pro is an abortion
the 2013/2014 where alright, but the 2012 non retina is by far the best macbook they ever created

JUST DO IT OP!!!!
FUCK THE SYSTEM!!!!
NO ONE TELLS US WHAT TO DO!!!
RULES ARE MEANT TO BE BROKEN!!!

Where is the cheapest site to buy a decent gaming pc. Please

the mid 12 MBP is slowly becoming a meme, but very rightly so

>2013/2014 where alright
Everything from 2013 to now are literally near identical and Applel still makes mad bank off you idiots paying current day prices for 3 year old hardware. It's hilarious how hard you cucks will defend "muh apel".

Feels good owning the best and only Apple product anyone with a brain should own, their stock. :^)

B...But its thinner and lighter

>brain
>their stock
Yea, thats only ging to go downhill from here on. Good luck

>implying that I fell for the retinal meme
>implying that I blindly defend applel
I will gladly shit on apple for the abortion that the 2015 macbook was, and how the 2013/14 was meh at best.
and I will gladly use my 2012 non retina with a 1680x1050 matte screen until the day they release something new that's worth 2-3 grand for

lol this guy is poor

I'm using a late 2009 macbook right now and it's the best computer I've ever owned. I can't bring myself to buy a new laptop until this one dies, I hope that happens at some point.
