No, jailbreak is independent of the memcard
You can format then copy the jailbreak mod to the memcars then install it

Reinsert the card in the PSP.
Format the memory card on the PSP.
Reinsert it up your Ass.
Remove it and reinsert it on your macbook.
Congrats it now works.
A word of advice just connect the PSP via USB it will save you alot of headaches.
