Why did you spend more than $80 on a phone?

Why did you spend more than $80 on a phone?

How do you justify this?

I spent 70€

Some people have boost contracts and they feel like getting watevet phone

I didn't. I don't have one.

Because I actually like getting updates instead of that shit phone that will never get updated to Marshmallow let alone N

Personally I would get 1080p on a 5.5 inch phone. But yeah, getting something more powerful is generally too much for too many people

Boost is a prepaid carrier.

>What are OTA updates

I've spent $200 for good hardware and large dev scene.
>720p at 5.5 screen
WOW, fucking garbage.
Something you'll never get.

$130 for S5 Galaxy.

Will be used for my VR needs.

Because I like my note4 rubbing holes in my pockets from the inside out thank you very much.

That the G3 m8o?

>blu

Just wish there was a cheap phone with a decent display and north american lte bands.

That's why I'm stuck with Samsung.

G2. G3's resolution is too big.

How can an android phone be incompatible with a newer OS when you can update other linux systems without problems

And windows systems

Proprietary drivers and significant kernel changes because google doesn't want to rewrite their shit display system?

stallman warned you about this (OSS alone could have stopped it, the free was never necessary, as always)

i use a track phone. i only spend ~$60 a year on minutes

I spent 500 dollars on my phone because I actually like to have nice things with great hardware.

My phone can even fucking fullspeed smash melee with a slight overclock.

The biggest reason I bought it though, was all contract phones are generally locked down with no ability to gain root access or unlock the bootloader, unless you use some 3rd party exploit. Also terrible bloatware that you can't uninstall because custom rom.

Nexus 6p

holy shit for that price you will most def not get a good looking phone like that, performance is epic for the price.

Because OEMs don't release sources. Maybe kernel, and even then it's not guaranteed to be genuine, the rest is always closed source. Locked bootloaders - you can't replace kernel(there are hacks for some phones like ramdisk hijack, but they are just that - hacks). RIL and camera drivers are guaranteed to be blobs. The most dev friendly devices are flagships.

Planned obsolescence basically.

I spend $30 on a pooinloomia 640.

I would get that phone, but boost doesnt have service in my fuckhole and the 720p screen is dissapointing.

>snapdragon 4*
i don't want to start a fire

Because I use lagdroid.

>people still throw their money at this scam

>the most successful application of Linux is a scam
I wonder why isn't Linus sad. Oh wait I know, because he's not a delusional freetard.

410 is surprisingly good. I have a warp elite and most it will heat up to is ~115F/46C after playing vydia for hours.

Nice meme. My warp elite has nova launcher and all bloat disabled. It runs fast as fuck. Maybe stop using shitty apps?

Zte is known to load botnets in their phones

>the 720p screen is dissapointing.
It really isn't, not a lot of sub-$100 Android phones with a 720p screen.

>Samsung, LG, and Google don't do this
k

>why do people buy high-end CPU's and GPU's when they just could go with AMD
Some of us have standards m8. It's undeniable that high end phone work faster and are better in every imaginable way. It's just that there is a diminishing return up a certain point (around 300-400 bucks) and it doesn't make much sense to go higher from a performance perspective.

Not as much as zte

You got any fucking proof or you just like memeing people to death, you sick fuck?

I'm actually serious btw, I have a warp elite and this is making me worry a little.

There are hundreds of articles about zte containing back doors

Been using this $50 ChinkPhone for two weeks: it's really shockingly just like any other Android smartphone, just with somewhat poorer viewing angles, a bit of UI lag sometimes, and a completely shit camera. Makes me think a $100 ChinkPhone would actually be quite good (at what pricepoint to these things start having passable cameras?)

Because I wanted BB10OS and a hardware keyboard.

We aren't all poor here

There are also hundreds of articles about LG, Samshit, Xioami having backdoors as well. Also I'm not really sure this is a backdoor, it just grants root. It can't be used to decrypt a zte android phone and extract all data within for example

The only good thing is with android you know about the backdoors, with iOS you can't know.

because i needed a phone the day i bought my phone so i bought an expensive phone that hopefully lasts for a while, had it for like 2-3 years now

p at 5.5 screen
>WOW, fucking garbage
why do you need more?
desu i have a 1080p phone but i dont see why i need more than like 960 x 540

Because I want timely updates, that's why I got a 6P. After using the S5 for two years I will never again get a phone that doesn't have first party support in some form.

Took fucking Samsung an entire year just to go from 5.0 to 6.0.1 only for them to load it up with Touchjizz bullshit. Couldn't even give us 5.1 in the meantime which fixed some battery issues.

The only exception is if they had a timetable and STUCK with the timetable. If they said it'll be 3 months to update their Touchjizz version from version A to version B, then yes, I'd be fine with that. But I remember reading shit where it'd be "ready by Christmas", then "ready by January", then ready by whatever month next. Fucking annoying. Give me a solid date and stay with it. Also, never getting anything through Verizon again.

Is that some flesh colored cloth or is that her perfectly shaven crotch peaking through.

It's not about being poor, it's about spending money wisely. Why spend $400-$600 on a phone when an $80 one can do things like calling, texting, play chinese cartoons just fine?

>6P
Why do you hate microsd slots so much?

>the only thing you expect from your phone is the ability to watch Hawaiian home videos

What the fuck do you do on your phone that demands the latest 911 housefire and 12GB of RAM?

>Not wanting anything over lollipop
>Not knowing lollipop sucks

Root allows you to do anything dumb dumb

Root is the super user

Cause pic related is the more superior phone.

nothing, but 99% of neo-Sup Forums are Sup Forumsirgins who heard from their computer expert uncle that GHz and GB are the only things that matter

I use it every day, constantly, and would like it to be fast and pleasant to use and secure? Not to mention I'd like to have enough storage to hold all my apps and data?

my job pays for it.

a job is a thing that people on g rarely have.

people are carbon based squishy animals that exist outside your moms basement.

I don't use my phone often but when I do I don't want it to chug trying to load ad-infested web page when I need it.

>kitkat
>8MP camera
>SD 400
>only supports fat32 formatted microsd cards
>superior
>$90 version locked with shitty at&t networks
lmao

warp elite has a microsd slot. The 11GB of internal storage space (system uses ~5GB) is more than enough for your apps. You can buy a $15 64GB UHS-I microsd card for storing your chinese cartoons and nickleback albums.

Regardless, it got some grown men to post a picture and have a discussion about a brand

...

Because money is just money. Who gives a shit if it's $10 or $1000.

>Android 5.1
Annnd it's already out of date

You really should. Money is money but you will always have a finite amount of it to spend in your life no matter what. By the time you spend $20,000+ on phone over your life you could have eaten better or bought a bigger house/better car.

You seem underage but when you grow up and actually give a shit about your life you start using money more wisely. Not saying get a $10 flip phone but if this $80 phones does the same things a $400 does then why buy the $400 one?

Buy nice or buy twice.

Or in the case of Android: Buy nice or buy lots of times.

>a e s t h e t i c s

the zte $80
looks like 3 times better then iphone 6

>2016
>not buying $4 dollar ChinkPhones
If you're gonna go cheap, might as well go the cheapest.

>Why don't people do what I do that way I do it?
>How do you justify this?

By not being an insecure autistic 12 year old.

>2036
>everyone uses $0.25 edible phones

>Buy nice or buy twice.
>Or in the case of Android: Buy nice or buy lots of times.
It doesn't work like that, android phones become outdated after 2-3 years no matter what and technology becomes cheaper.

The real question is, should you buy the best $80 android phone every 2-3 years or the best $400 android phone every 2-3 years.

By 2017 we'll probably have 1080p android phones with 2GHz quad-core A53 chips and 3GB of RAM.

>*By 2017 we'll probably have 1080p android phones with 2GHz quad-core A53 chips and 3GB of RAM for $80.

I need a fast phone cos I use it for vr porn in 60fps lol

My phone cost me $99 about a year and a half ago. close enough.

>touchwizz

Um. I'm at 10GB of apps right now, and it's only due to grow.

I have a G3 the resolution is perfect for people who are going blind. (I am going blind... My days here are limited)

Redmi 3 is already like $120, but display still 720p.

>hoarding all those apps
This isn't healthy you know. Are you sure it's 100% apps and app cahce? I only have 3GB worth of apps and app cahce which includes a 3D FPS vydia.

>Android 6 on an LG g2
How
