If torrenting suddenly became as obsolete as Limewire what would take its place?

...

torrenting is only the most popular way.
not the only one.
theres plenty of other ways more convinient than fucking limewire.
>>>/reddit/

I'll wait for you to read the question.

fucking retard

Do you not understand the question?

limewire?

What the fuck is this?

DC++ era all over again?

Napster

IPFS maybe?

>IPFS maybe?

Some sort of meshnet protocol outside the Internet would be p. cool in dense cities.

Streaming?

Hasn't it already, to quite some extent?

Honestly it would be split between payed streaming and Usenet.

>payed
>nigger
Obviously

torrent? haven't touched in years.
direct downloads is best, if you can afford the couple bucks a month.

Aye this has been the most common aproach payed streaming services are at an all time high with normies.

Whatever made torrents obsolete obviously

Another P2P technology.

as cool as this AiO looks, i can only imaging how hard it will throttle after 10 minutes under load.

Whatever obsolates it, duh. Maybe ipfs in a few years.

Limewire died because it was centralized. P2P bittorrent can never be shut down because you would have to control the entire protocol.

Why should it?

How does this differ from Freenet?

>stock cpu cooler
>reference gpu
>no airflow
>screen creates heat as well and is right next to the other hardware

It's called DMCA. KAT and all other trackers follow DMCA except for TPB.

Also, private trackers are centralized.

>speakers
seriously?

>no airflow
But the cover is off, user. Plenty of airflow!

Apple can pull it off.

Pleb

DDL and/or Download managers that download files via some encrypted system like CNL2 which I dont understand

Get out.

seriously this. apple has been doing this for years why is it just now a concept for regular PCs? is apple really this far ahead of you guys?

to be fair apple uses laptop gpu's on their desktops

Much better speeds, but with no anonymity built in.

I really don't think it's possible. Torrenting is just too god damn convenient. You can download sequentially (streaming) or randomly (most efficient), your progress is saved even in case of a power failure, everyone is an uploader when active so no single point of failure.

Big businesses should be using it more. Can you imagine downloading battlefield 4 at 1Gbps+ if EA had a 1Gbps seedbox seeding the game?

No I honestly cant imagine purchasing any product from EA

Darknet, the Japanse Government has been acting like a virus continuously, trying to shut it down only so the developers had to implement more and more security measures to keep it alive.

e-mails

Probably something akin to direct downloads. At least in the front end for the average user.

It's pretty much the only thing that has a chance of being convenient enough to replace torrents.

There is one with a custom liquid cooling solution, so it would throttle less hard, also the back panel is designed to accomodate reference coolers

Doubt it, while it's true limewire isn't popular NOW, there are other peograms, DC for example.
But the real reason for these programs becoming obsolete, is the CP propaganda.

>All files in the world in a single git repository

You all know it's gonna be whatever the scene dictates right? As long as they can get out their Nisekois and Game of Thrones, they'll put support behind whatever works and that'll be the go to.

but user torrents went obsolete in 2009

what poorfag can't afford at least 10megs? why download shit slower and insecure?

>sending emails >50MB
teach me your ways, wizard

LAN filesharing parties.

They'll be like speak-easies.

God I miss DC++

Nigger what the fuck are you doing?

>he doesn't share physical media with his friends

Ah, Limewire. I remember the CP I enjoyed as a kid thanks to it.

Sweet house fire.

My money's on IPFS

Because I want to play something more intensive than FarmVille.

Torrenting will never be obsoleted like limewire.

The only thing that would replace it is something better, faster and easier to index.

What I could see replacing bittorrent is something that is a peer to peer in the nature of sharing the files. Everyone is a node containing part of all the torrents in circulation. Torrents use a cryptographic identifier to indicate who the uploader is. (ie some ripping team could sign their stuff with their public key so you knew it was from them.) Ideally part of the torrent file would contain meta data that could be used to search against.

It would solve all the problems that torrent sites currently have with DCMA takedowns, high bandwidth costs, etc and spread that cost to everyone. It would eliminate private trackers and all the problems that go with them (if they shut down all the files go into oblivion along with all the meta data the site provides)

The most someone could do to shutdown bittorrent is take down all the major sites providing torrent file but new ones would pop up hours later. Only way I could see bittorrent dying is if private trackers take over, become even more exclusive and the quality of files on public trackers tanks to the point where no one bothers anymore.

It's kinda like that now, unless you're looking for a brand new movie finding a 720p or higher version of a older film is next to impossible. Like I tried to find a non shitty rip of 'a night at the roxbury' on public trackers and only found SD versions or really tiny files that claimed 720 or 1080. It's not even a obscure movie. All the folks who used to seed for the sake of seeding and helping anons out left for exclusive private trackers where they can feel important.

Oh, why well- Hello, Summer.

nigga if I was gonna shell out 3 thousand for an 600fps ALL in one gaming rig I expect a 144hz display and not some cheap ass 60hz

Don't know much about Limewire, someone please inform me.

Limewire is one of DOZENS of p2p file sharers. Share, PD might be more popular than it currently. Hell, DC/DC++ variants are still kicking in some forms. And you're only scratching the surface of a few networks, yet alone different protocols.

Also the sheer problem of viruses and incorrectly labelled shit. Not that it's any different with torrents (private trackers aside, some shit can slip through the cracks if no one checks). I'd almost say there's more inherent risk and load from p2p dc/limewire networks than torrents.

And some poor network has to host it all. Which is the problem, how are they untouchable to hold 'everything in the world', every version of a file so that people of different needs (sizes, versions etc) can be accommodated. Then still be legally connected without some asshat international agreement or gaggle of associations calling for your network to be disconnected from the mainstream internet.

You'd need magic levels of money and influence to pull it off.

Filesharing sites are still pretty popular.
I'd just go back to using w-bb.

How old are you?

Russians and other slav niggers would start selling pirated stuff on physical storage media like they did before internet became common. They would also sell you a bag of amphetamine, a few illegal guns and a prostitute while you shop for pirated movies :^)

>CP propaganda.
Spoken like a true pedophile

Kek Soulseek is still GOAT for music.

Worst case, like cyberpunk bad, we go back to BBSes or IRC style transfer

These anons know what's up.

IPFS is coming for your planet bound waifu prons.

everyone has 38888888TB hardrives and 1000000GBps bandwidth
