How do I remove the mic from a smartphone without breaking the phone?
Is gentoo really the best linux distro?
you pc bro?
>disassemble phone
>desolder or cut off mic
>reassemble phone
yes
How do i move data from a 2GB SD card to 32GB Micro SDHC (with SD adapter) without bricking my 3DS?
Is the 380 the best card out for 1080p gaming?
You can't just dragon drop from one card to the other?
Is there an actual easy way to convert videos from mp4 to avi or would re-rendering a video be the best, albeit slower, course of action?
Sup Forumsirgin here, i want to learn about hacking/security to give myself something to do besides waste my life on videogames.
i use windows 7, are there any go-to programs i should use to ensure anonymity? ive done a bit of research and most of it says hacking anything from a windows operating system is usually a bad idea. im new to this shit though so any general advice is really appreciated.
Listen here fuckface it's called stupid question thread and it's /sqt/. Jeez even I came from Reddit last week and I learned this
As long as he gets the image right and includes "sqt" somewhere in the title, I don't care.
It's my first time buying a processor and I've settled with the i5 6500, I'm wondering if it comes with a tube of thermal paste or at least it pre-applied.
If you're not getting a K variant (which you aren't), then there is some paste pre-applied to the heatsink.
Yeah that or 390/Nvidia equivalent
I'd go with the 480 when it comes out.
Some games are still quite demanding on the 380/X even at 1080p.
Windows will just hold you back because most of the "hacking" software is written for lunixes and the AV/firewall software will screw with the stuff you're running. Just put Kali Linux on a flash drive and dual boot. As for starters guide, look for the wiki page on /r/netsec, it's got all you need to start.
Yeah, I was considering the 6600K, but if I do get the 6600k I'll still have to buy thermal paste right?
Not only the thermal paste, you don't even get a cooler with the 6600K / 6700K
Most aftermarket coolers come with a tube of generic paste anyways.
I know that the 6600K doesn't come with a stock cooler, I just wanted to know if the CPU came with the paste, thank you by the way
thanks man, ill put your advice to good use!
To be fair, it does come with thermal paste.
It's just under the heat spreader, where there should be solder.
just use mayo
How do I use getleaks? Don't really know where to ask.
I'm gonna build a computer in a few weeks (waiting for the RX 480 and maybe GTX 1060 if it comes before august).
Will the 480 and i5 6600 will work well together (no bottleneck) ?
Since it only draws 150W maximum, what PSU will be required ? I'm guessing a 300W or 350W would be enough.
You can't even buy good PSU's less than 450W
480 and 6600 is really quite balanced.
>You can't even buy good PSU's less than 450W
I checked. Be quiet have a nice 400W PSU gold certified. I'll probably look at that after all the reviews. I'll check again later once the GPU is released.
posted this in the last thread.

I want to start my own website as a portfolio for my design work, and little applets/tools I'm building in python.
I'm running freenas on a proliant gen8 microserver, but I don't think it would be a good idea to put it on there.
Where do I start?
I need to buy a domain, then find someone to host it.... I think.
I have no idea where to start.
help.
Watch the recent DIY webserver vidyas on the Tek Linux channel.
thanks senpai.
I've been meaning to catchup on KEKlinux anyway.
>ASRock H110M-DGS motherboard
Will I be able to change the BIOS splash screen?
Is it a fucking stupid idea to try?
Never had Asscrack mobo but it should allow you to disable it completely
>accidentally posted this in /csg/
If I build a python application, how would I go about hosting that on a website for my friends to use?
i.e. use via a web interface rather than having to install python, download and run etc.?
Yeah, that should be good.
Will doing that just show text data on the screen on startup, or black screen until OS shows up?
Why do usb cards have a slot pointing inside? Is that for a wifi? I never understood this.
Pretty sure you can just copy the files over to the new card
I keep getting this.
Fixes range between overly complicated to utterly useless. Mainly I just can't find the files the fixes ask me to find.
What is the reason this thing is failing to install right in the first place though? Is it my fault or Microsoft's?
Only if you enjoy watching code flying around your screen every minute of the day when you updated.
Gentoo isnt an os, it is a game people play, based on maintaning a system.Rather then using it
ffmpeg -i mp4.mp4 avi.avi
Done
So I was wondering, if I make a free app/software in java and use oracle's JDK to compile it instead of openJDK and then distribute it to people, will I be in trouble?
Any good privacywise? ring.cx
>domain
namecheap, AVOID godaddy at ALL costs.
>someone to host it
If you're just doing a portfolio, there is most likely software already setup to do this. You would just need to setup the basic http server(easy) and then install the portfolio software.
>hosting
You can get a nice shared VPS unlimited, 100mbit throttled for ~$30-50/month
related question.
good TLD for an engineering/design/programming portfolio?

I've got a windows 7 desktop and I want to use more screen than my GPU has outputs. I know I can use multiple GPUs that are separate brands, but I want to know:
If I have a powerful Nvidia GPU and a cheap ATI gpu, if the Nvidia GPU is my main display will it do all the 3d related rendering for programs running on the displays of the ATI GPU? In a multigpu setup, which GPU's computational power is used?

don't those make it look like I'm running a scam
I'm actually considering .io, and .com in case I incorporate myself later.
How do I hibernate or sleep my computer while having torrents active?
how does the cutting off the mic part happen? are there visual instructions somewhere?
Where is the gentoo install wiki?

Am i gonna be fine if i delete temporary files? Pic related
that's why they are temporary
why is my CPU usage reported to be well over 10000%?
Why would I want to emulate or use a virtual serial port? What are the uses of this, can someone give me an example?
How does running a 1080p game on a 2K screen look like?
Would it literally take up 1920x1080 pixels (leaving black around it) or would it scale up?
depends.
I can tell my monitor to stretch it to full or just have it centered with black bars around it.
Electrical stupid question here.
Looking for about 10 new batteries across 2 phones. Is there any specs I should care about than mAh?
Phones: Motorola Droid Pro XT610, LG Cosmos 3.
Also open to suggestive additions to the phones for quality of life.
To test lights-out equipment, like if you have a server OS and you want to communicate with it over its serial port to test it out.
i7 4790k and air cooling, but launching a big game or starting prime95 test instantly crashes PC.
Should I underclock, or is my cooler busted/dusty?
Did you overclock it? Raise the voltage a little bit.
what's the equivalent of ./thing from unix under windows command prompt?
I need to run this thing but doing .\thing opens a "what do you want to open this file with" prompt instead of running the file.
I did not overclock it whatsoever. It's left at the default, but I did already try lowering the turbo to 4 instead of 4.4, but the problem still persists.
I've used this cpu for a while without problems, and had a gtx580 as a separate GPU. That GPU died however, and it feels as if the cpu+gpu is now stressing the processor too much even though it should be able to handle light gaming more than capably..
Any guides on what voltages levels are fine for cpus? And how they relate to clock/tdp? I know nothing about overclocking as I never dared messing with ti
You have to cd to the directory if it's not in your cmd prompt's home dir. Google how to change the home path on Windows and save all your files there.
If it's in that dir, just type the filename with or without the file extension.
All the knowledge I know though. Might not be useful.
but you get a bluescreen when it crashes? or your pc freezes?
How do you embed data in pictures and videos? Not watermarks but say, an id that isnt easy to distinguish unless you know it is there.
Not steganography, nut something else hiding it within the media
INSTANT reboot. Windows logs don't show anything besides the generic "41 power kernel failure" as it has no time to log anything.
Can't follow CPU temps with Speccy either, as it is just too quick
I replaced my PSU as I had some bronze shit I RMA'd three times, but I think the PSU was fine and it's something else.
What is a good list of PC maintenance tools?
Just wondering if I've missed out on any
Dear Microsoft. Fuck you. I have now been trying to install c++ 2015 for 6 hours now, to no avail.
None of the fixes work, manually installing brings up a new error, even using command prompt doesn't help. Why are you one of the largest megacorporations in the world and still fuck up basic software to the point it takes this long to fix.
Fuck you microdick. I hate you.
>How can I test a usb port?
I've noticed different ports on the same machine act differently.
I have a wireless remote that stutters when the receiver is plugged into the back IO but when it's in the front IO it's flawless.
I thought it might have been a distance or interference issue so I ran an extension from the back IO so that the receiver was near the front IO but still stuttered. Also some devices straight up don't work in some ports but work in others?
I think (I'm no expert whatsoever) that raising the voltage might help, for that processor anything lower than 1.25-1.3v should be fine.
SSD on sata 2 port is a waste? My motherboard has only one sata 3, I was thinking on getting a 240gb ssd, but in the future I probably would have to replace with more storage.
I could buy 2 PNY CS1111 240gb for the price of one Corsair Force LE 480gb. Is the PNY a bad choice?
Good news, with the turbo limited to 4ghz Prime95 no longer destroys my PC. Doesn't evene xceed 70c, so it's not my CPU. Guess it's an issue with the igpu or its drivers, so I'll try fiddling with those again..
Thanks for your time, and I'll keep voltages in mind next time
In an advertisement for a motherboard with one of these the spokesperson talked about complex hardware/software authentication keys for special programs and access. Basically some advanced security setups have uses for them as hard keys with semi-permanence, i.e. not changing computers everyday but not going to pay for custom locked motherboards.
I like the idea as I could use them for lots of things.
Like a second OS that boots from USB, a modified non-persistence one is very secure and wipes all activity at shutdown, others files could be on encrypted on second drive for on going memory. Thing hiding files through non-promoted BIOS options, only a very deep IT scan could detect it and it still wouldn't know what it was.
>I B likz Jame Bond
Or a back up recover partition to fix things when it all goes wrong.
There is no reason to use an ssd on anything but 3-6gbs.
You can't. Your best bets are either home server/NAS or torrent-able router.
When I read the benchmark and it says that it has read/speed of 450mb/s that means I need a 4,5gb port minimal, right? Aka sata 3 port.
Is anyone else seeing only /r/videos as the default front page of reddit?
and if so, wtf?
It's worth it for seek time.
450 megaBytes is 3600 megabits, or 3.6 gigabits
VPS with Python plugins on web server.

Gentoo is shit. Their "documentation", is just a round about of talking bullshit. I just want a single list of how to install it.
Any ideas on how to sort my rapidly fluctuating download speeds on windows 10?
I get around around 20 Mbps when speed testing using debian or linux mint, but when using windows it regularly drops from 20Mbps to 2Mbps, with pages sometimes failing to load, I'd tried resetting ipconfig but to no avail. My upload speeds stay consistent without drops however
What are the best processor, graphic card and motherboard so far?
for a specific price point or in general the most powerful?
You won't find it.
The beauty that is Gentoo is that each OS is custom built by you for your application on your hardware, thus giving you phenomenal performance gains.
Thus your Gentoo is a special snowflake and no one could just give you a how to guide for it, expect the very general Gentoo coding rules set which next to none of the systems follow.
Thus the thrill is to constantly maintain that huge performance curve that could break at any second do to some update or minute system change.
You can spend so much time fixing and improving your setup you may never brother to actually use such a powerful setup for your original goals as you realize working on Gentoo is the joy of Gentoo.

i7-4790K has the best thread performance. The best Xeons beat it in other use cases. And the rankings are different if overclocking everything as much as possible. GTX 1080 is the best GPU for "muh games".
Should I shave before my bf gets back or remain ottery?
Not poster, but interested in the no price limit build. And I'm sure other are interested in the other more typical build setups that don't involve being richy rich.
But to make it interesting it has to be limited to a single motherboard, none of this cluster stuff that's cheating.
Intel i7-6950X, ASRock X99 WS-E, any Nvidia 1080. Keep buying 1080s until you find one that overclocks amazingly.
