because they're incapable of intuition...they just continuously build on their incoherent ui

eat shit microshill

wm + keyboard shortcuts >>>>>>>> everything else

why not?

Which dock is that

>flat ui
>no submenu ethos
>context-sensitive menu on top...carpal tunnel city

how do people live like this?

Looks like a shitty OSX ripoff with a dock on the side

standalone dockbarx, not the xfce4-panel plugin

didn't know that one
I'll check it out, looks better than docky

It's simple: the people that are into free software are pretty much mutually exclusive with people who appreciate good design.

because actual user testing is required

Filthy rodent vermin mascot.
Install KDE.

>KDE

So customizable, you can even make it look shitty if you want.

I think flashback is nice.

>Filthy rodent vermin mascot.
No bully the mouse.

Because they are designed to be customizable by the user into what they like and need, unlike non-freetard user interfaces which treat the user like an idiot.

>non-freetard UIs treat the user like an idiot
no need to treat the linux user like an idiot...it comes with the territory.

...

Enjoy your baby UI and locked-down system.

Enjoy ur shitty UI and broken system

Not using wangblows, so I've none of those.

>implying

I honestly want a ganooo car

wew lad

A better question is why can't they into ANYTHING

Maybe you should install proper fonts.

wew lad

>default theme
>no appchan x
>can't hide his addons in the chromium menu
>chromium
>not superior firefox ESR
>xfce
>dead battery

you running quake through dosbox, or you playing Quake 3 using ioquake?

>If it works then it doesn't matter what it looks like!
Though 90% of freetard software gives me eye cancer. Surely it isn't hard being able to look at something and ask yourself "is there a way I can make this look a little nicer?".

That is a FRESH install

running quake with darkplaces.

maybe you should install a better distro then.
Looks like you're using *tips fedora*

ooh, I've never actually played Quake. I'll buy it and try it out.

>didn't even configure his dekstop and is already calling it a shit

honestly I like gnome 3
my only nitpick is that you can't make the topbar go vertical

Is that Marathon?

leave xfce alone it's my desktopfu

it's probably that one port of Marathon for linux.

Why can't Microsoft into ANYTHING

What font is that?

most OS have a hard time working on defective hardware

GNOME 3 is great for Fedora, everywhere else it feels pretty fucking simple, but it's still not as tablet-y as unity

>implying having a dock for your most frequent applications is a bad thing

get over your self faggot.

>/Pictures/Chinese_cartoon_girl_reactions/Shit/

Wallpaper sauce?

All of these screen grabs are quite shit

except mine

>1366x768

Try using "GNOME Shell", also known as "GNOME 3", "GNU Network Object Model Environment 3" or "gah-NOM".

That's disgusting, amigo.

I disagree.
Your opinion doesn't matter.
You're not objective.

pure shit

>Being attracted to commushits

Ye boi

I fucking love Xubuntu/xfce famalam. Idk what you're on about.

I just like her, k, I don't like her views though.

there's literally no loonix distro that looks decent out of the box.. you have to rice and tweak it to make it not look like shit, all of them

Mint is at least as good as windows 10. At least the config menus aren't an abortion of aero and metro.

linuxmint.com/pictures/screenshots/rosa/cinnamon.png

What seems to be the problem? It looks great desu. Looks fast too. Just change the background to a grey color so it doesn't clash with the UI.

What about this?

I wish there was an app that could turn your multiple workspaces into a 3d cude, shit like that would instantly sell me the OS.

So you mean compiz?

What did they mean by this?

That looks terrible

What's the name of that image viewer?

It's probably the file manager "ranger" with feh.

It's in the wiki.

This is my GNU/Linux desktop about 30 minutes after install. Got a better terminal font, and now I'm in business!

Change your window decoration. Nobody uses the default one as it is huge and ugly.

I'd probably use XFCE if it didn't have that stupid rodent mascot.

Say what you will about it, but I think Manjaro is one of the nicest looking distros out of the box desu. It doesn't look like some weird early 00's fisher-price shit like most distros do.

Shitty hack that only works in three garbage terminal emulators known as w3mimgdisplay

Just ignore the shitty laggy "file manager" written in fucking python

Nothing wrong with python. Also it is not a hack

Why don't you put the dock on left side to conserve precious vertical space?

Looks really bad.

If he wanted to preserve vertical space he would not have inch thick window decorations.

Yes it is a hack

And there is something wrong with python. Its community of retard programmers. Ranger doesn't have to be as slow as it is, asynchronous unix shell commands could easily be used for file management, but it is.

You can't seriously think this mess looks good.

Python community is not bad at all. And the language is great

Freetards, just fucking give it up.

>he fell for the "precious vertical space" meme

tell me user, what's more awkward

scrolling vertically
or
scrolling horizontally

The only thing OS X has over linux is a trackpad that works without xorg.conf fuckery

I'm trying it just to see how long I can tolerate it. I already had to install a third party mouse app so my mouse can behave normally. I'm getting really annoyed with how the Home and End buttons behave on my keyboard. Why are we forced to use Command+left and Command+right?

>having a laptop with a trackpad

OS X was designed by emacs users

>Doesn't know what he's missing

enjoy your RSI

>having to remove your hands from home row to move the mouse

Does anybody have MATE inspo?

I've been thinking of switching back but never see anything with MATE looking good.

Linux is a hack.

If something is popular enough, some percentage of the community has to be dumb.

Docks are fucking disgusting.

Has open source software ever pushed anything original in terms of UI? All the good looking Linux UIs seem to be heavily inspired by closed source software.

interesting. Although personally I'm not a fan of where your system bar information si located but since it's ultrawide, don't know what would work

Virtual desktops

tfw tesla open sourced their patents on their cars

Most Linux DEs do virtual desktops much better than OSX or Windows. OSX can do it with Mission Control, but it's clunky compared to Linux's Mate or Xfce.

In Linux you have the keyboard shortcuts just like OSX, but you can also have a visual representation via widget on your desktop with a mini diagram of all your windows. Mate and Xfce both also allow you to simply put your cursor on the widget and use the scroll wheel to change desktops.

In OSX, it's like yeah, you can use Ctrl+up to open up Mission Control and you can move your cursor up to see all your desktops, but it's not as fast or convenient as it is in Linux. By comparison it's just cumbersome.

>libreboot
Very nice, user.

Linux is a form of mental sickness; a security blanket left over from the childhood of the Computer Age. The sooner "Tux" and his travelling freak show pack it up and move on, the better.
