Who here is in the >16GB ram club?

Right now I'm using 14,945 MB thanks to IE11 and FF sucking my system dry with over 100 tabs open. If I open a game it exceeds that easily. Why are browsers such memory hogs? Some of us keep our PCs on for months on end and accumulate a shitton of tabs open for good reasons (in b4 pr0n). They drain memory because of shitty programming. Video memory also runs out and the browser ends up not even rendering. This happens with all of the shit browsers, not just IE11.

>over 100 tabs open
>in multiple browsers
this is legit hoarder behavior tbhfam

16 gb ram here. Typically max out at 3 though with win 7.

There is no good reason to open that many tabs, ever. That's what bookmarks are for, literally that exact purpose. How retarded would it sound if I kept 100 Explorer windows open instead of pinning the important ones?

Even with 15 tabs open I still don't go over 4 gb. I use chrome though but pretty sure firefox wouldnt do that to me. I even tried to reproduce all these memory issues others compain about and cant. I think some people just into stupid too well.

32gb of tasty corsair dominator platinum ddr4 3000 reporting in.

i use it to shitpost, WoW, and run multiple linux vm's to study for my rhcsa.

Memory is suppsed to used. You wouldn't run out if you weren't so autistic.

>tfw 2 gb

first off I'd question why you're actively using both IE and FF

get an extension that saves tabs or something if you actually need to save them over a multi-month duration (spoiler: you probably don't)

freely admit I'll have >200 tabs open often, usually for porn + tech sites or something

so glad I didn't fall for the

Some of us work for a living and use our computers to the near maximum potential. Not all of us are hipster app developers that spend hours on 1 tab, or a poor college student writing an essay spending hours at a time on facebook with the occasional game.

I need over 100 tabs open because I'm bidding on at least 60 different auctions a day, most of which include a ton of details I have to look up which require even more tabs to be open, and kept open for sometimes over a week.

There are also tabs I have to keep open for research purposes. For example, if I need to organize an event at a restaurant or hotel, I keep at LEAST 40 tabs open on all of the hotels I have found, their website, yelp reviews, and prices, that's 3 tabs at least per hotel/restaurant. I'm not going to put all that shit onto an excel spreadsheet like some autist OCDfag, when I'll make the decision within a few days depending on situation and environmental factors. I've also got ADHD and seriously do not have the patience to do this sort of thing when my mind is constantly moving.

If I bookmarked every tab, I'd become too overcrowded as it already is. And it's a waste of my time to create a whole new folder, sometimes having to rename the bookmark because of it defaulting as the same name, and remember to delete all of it afterwards.

I believe the default browser on android employs a system of sandboxing, or sideloading the tabs and shutting them off. Windows Edge does this as well. Why can't any of the desktop browsers do this? And support extensions.

>100 tabs open

Congratulations on your mental illness, you might want to work on that first before worrying about RAM

upgrade to 32 gigs
or get a lightweight browser

32 gb ram here. Fuck off

>100 tabs open
>2 browsers
>it lags help
Are you kidding me kys

If you ask a hoarder why they keep any particular thing they'll have a reason why they can't possibly get rid of it. I don't doubt you believe you need 200+ tabs open. It's not really possible to see your way out from the inside of this kind of behavior.

Do you have someone you can talk to about this?

I have 54 tabs loaded (out of 2649) on this profile, and ff is using ~3.4G according to htop

24gb on my desktop rig and 8 in my glorious thinkpad. needed? no. but fuck it i had the means laying around so why not.

16gb on Arch Linux. Hardly use anything close to 16.... Such a waste

>IE11
>100 tabs open

Dude, unless you opened 100 instances of angio.net/pi/digits.html and generated Pi to a few billion places per tab then you have a fucked up system.

>100 tabs open at the same time, ever, for any fucking reason, ever
>stupid fucking people will be the death of us all

>AT LEAST 40 tabs
>open for weeks
It's not because you have a job. It's not because you have a life.
It's because you have a problem, user.

Maybe I should edit video or something.

why don't they remove tabs completely from firefox?

should save on code-complexity and make Sup Forums happy since you're not allowed to use tabs anyways

>16gb

bought 32gbs of ram just for league of babbies
