Story time

Story time.
>Coworker gives me a bunch of components, tell me to assemble
>No problem I do this as a side job
>Get home, build it, maybe 30mins
>Gets Windows on, start testing it
>Leave it running for an hour while I shower
>Come back, it's off
>wtf.tiff
>Turn it back on, it boots up
>Shuts off as soon as Windows loads
>areyoufuckingme
>Take side panel off
>See pic
>I almost died kekking

Any other stories?

>closing side panel before finishing build

too little thermal glue OP, apply about 25mL next time

Coworker didnt supply me with a tube, he got what AMD puts on their heatsinks from factory my dude

Did the plastic holding the heatsink just snap? What?

Had a giggle. Thnx m8

Did you not even use the screws for the heatsink? what?

That heatshink uses a latch, anyone with an amd builds knows the troubles.

I think IMO that AMD's headsink is easier than Intel's. Why? Latch. I tried installing a custom Intel cooler and ended up splattering the thermal paste when I tightened it up.

The latch came unlatched. Theyre really awful latches.

The latch is garbage, if you cant screw a heatsink on right then you are too fucking stupid to even be opening up a computer.

I said easier, but the quality is garbage
>can't screw a heatsink
I can, but it's a hassle.

i installed my first BIG BOY heatsink recently (cooler master hyper 212 evo) and good god damn that was a worse pain in the ass to get on correctly than anything else I've ever assembled

I've never had much trouble with mine save for when I moved it from my am3+ to my lga1151.
Found out after numerous tries that it uses the AMD hardware for 1151.

>get call from family friend
>says computer is stuffed
>tell him to boot it up
>says he cant because there is an ad on start up
>what does it say?
>is says gigabyte, USB 3 SATA 3
>oh wait. its gone. WTF HAPPENED? HAVE I BEEN HACKED
>mfw he was referring to the bios splash screen

>Have I been hacked
God I love people that cant even compute

That was irony

My cooler on fx 8350 has screws. Never heard of a heatsink with only a latch

>that horrifying cable management

Your coworker is a fucking retard for trusting you to even touch his stuff.

He only paid me like $15 my dude. I put just over a dollar per minute into it

cable management is for bitches

The AMD stock cooler uses the latch.

>getting paid 15$ to do it

You really are retarded arent you?
You either nickel and dimed your buddy for something you should have done for free, or you sold yourself way short for someone you dont care about.

You set a bad precedent. You do shit for cheap, and the fact that he paid you to do something means you are suddenly his IT for as long as he has this computer.

And the worst part is, you did a really poor job of it.
Good job, you went down the road many other idiots who think they are special go down.

I remember being 16 years old
Let me guess, you are proud of a gigantic full tower case with LEDS and loud as fuck fans too?

Nothing wrong with a little nickel and diming Goyim

Personally, I wouldn't even touch an AMD build today. Too much chance of issues, blame and hurt feelings.

I'm glad I went with my NH-U14s. Besides being FUCKING HUEG, it was a pain-free install.

Youd love Nvidia then!

So did you fail to seat it properly, or did it snap, or what?

>Working at Dell as a tech support guy in late 90's
>Old lady calls cause the computer she got
>won't boot
>30 min of bitching cause I'm asking her to
>troubleshoot
>30 min of her bitching about Dell
>5 min into troubleshooting figure out the issue
>This bitch only bought a monitor, no computer
>no CPU...

the worst installation I have ever made with that cpu heatsink because it is very easily to drop/lose some of the parts. the plastic part that lifts the heatsink fell off because they don't screw in and are just held by putting a screw on top. I manage to drop one because I put all of them at the same time put I drop one because I was putting the top screws on the other ones. I could not find that last one for hours. meanwhile every other heat sink I had all the parts screw in.

I know how that feels, man, first time I installed a hyper 212 I almost broke the frame. Was much easier installing my D14 before that.

no.....thats gold! ahahahaha

>tfw backplate cutout isnt big enough so you try to squeeze the backplate in by pushing on the mobo to make space

>and the all in one pc was born

@55447468
your retarded, OP
