Cross posting from I'm using bbLean on Windows 7, and I have systembarex loaded instead of the default bblean taskbar because I wanted to be able to see my systray icons. However, I can't right click on some of them, specifically MEGASync. Anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

Will the 200m fan carry the weight enough to make this setup have positive air pressure

i want to buy more hard drives to install os's on but if i cant get muh screws how am i gonna ;_;7

no

Are aftermarket case fans worth buying?
I would like to cool my rig down some more, but I don't see how aftermarket fans would make a difference.

The only two noteworthy brands I've seen talked about are these Corsair fans and Noctua's.
Both seem pretty expensive for fans.

aftermarket fans are good for cooling down the actual chip
If you have bad airflow though then the reference design cards are usually better options because the blower style fan directs air away from your components.

Is your pc overheating?
You don't need to keep adding fans, just dust it twice a year and don't block airflow.
Parts are made to withstand heat and most will power down to avoid damage if they actually get too hot.

What do you guys do with your replaced PC parts?

It's not overheating, but the graphics card produces major heat in even the shortest gaymen session.
If I were to get aftermarket fans it would just be for "insurance," to prolong the life of my components without shelling out for water-cooling I suppose.

So these SP design fans from Corsair aren't just a gimmick then. Would they be just as useful for getting air through the HDD rack? I've got 3 on the rack and them along with the cables could potentially be negating the optimal airflow.

try to sell them or give them away

I've never personally used a reference card so I can't accurately reply, but I've heard that the only purpose of them is for improving airflow of the entire case.

So if your issue is that the card is overheating because of airflow and not just heavy load, then yes I would recommend getting reference design cards. In every other case though the aftermarket boards are superior.

Is there any good reason(s) to upgrade to Win10 from Win7?

As an upgrade from a 270x for FHD gaming, would the 480 or the 1060 be better? Theyre both gonna be around the same price i guess. Is the 390/x or 3.5gb meme card a better option at that price?

My random number gen in C++ doesn't work in CLion. I'm including and using time as the parameter but it keeps giving me verrrry similiar number that only change by a tiny percentage.

The RNG works fine in Visual Studio though. Anyone know why this might be?

If it's peripherals then I keep at least a set for backup then either sell or give away the rest.
If it's a graphics card I've replaced for an upgrade, then I would only sell it.

wait for 1060 benchmarks
My guess is that 1060 will outperform it in dx11 and they will be tied or the 480 will have the edge in dx12.

It's lighter/faster, and DX12.

No

>better performance for old hardware
>DX12
>better game performance
>faster os in general
>longer support period

Just search for all of the debotnet tools and run through them.
Then install classic shell windows menu and you'll be set.

>debotnetting Windows 10
Enjoy your placebo

I should have mentioned I'm using the default_random_engine

DETEL THIS
ITS CALLED STUPID QUESTINOS

no

It's really up to you then.
If the card actually burns out and you aren't OCing warranty should cover it but if you want to spend some money for peace of mind I guess it can't hurt.

How hot is it getting?

Neat pic.

Money is no object, what's the best USB AC wireless card?

I don't have any free PCI-E slots and I need an AC adapter that's reliable, has good bandwidth/throughput, excellent latency for games.

I'm using a T4UH at the moment and it randomly drops the 5GHz connection, the 2.4GHz spectrum has too much traffic where I live.

If USB AC is inherently garbage, should I DDWRT or OPENWRT a router into ethernet and use it as an access point?

My CPU temperatures was hitting like 90+ Celsius and people were freaking out when I was posting the Speccy. (which I've since deleted)

Did I fuck it up?

What CPU and cooler?

Might want to reinstall and reapply thermal paste.

Is it overclocked and if so do you have a custom cooler?
90C is pretty hot.

weechat or hexchat?

how old is your shit?

Should i use this test build of SumatraPDF or should i stick the stable build from November 2015 ?

just stick to stable
There's no reason to be on the cutting edge for a pdf reader.

hexchat

i7 960 (I was in the last thread talking about replacing it)
Stock cooler
7 years old
Not overclocked

I reapplied thermal paste and it idles at 50C for the last few months. So its been working but I was curious if that kind of temperature did some sort of minor damage to it.

Hola
Picked up a Dell Inspiron mini 10 from a local thrift store. On the inside the cord that feeds the incoming electricity from the charger to the motherboard is broken. What's it called and where could I buy one? Pic related

Where exactly are you supposed to hook the wire with one of these? To the wristband?
Also, does this thing alone qualify as grounding?

weechat can run in a detachable terminal multiplexer session accessible via ssh. If there's no chance of you doing that, and you don't want to feel like a 1337 h4x0r. Hexchat can be less cumbersome to use.

why boner

I'd like to get an irresponsibly powerful PC, way overkill for any purpose I might have. Do I really need a full tower case as opposed to a mid though if I'm going to roll a NH-U14S and a 1080?

Plug the parts into pcpartpicker.
It will tell you if there are any incompatibilities including space/size.

Just solder it, it's piss easy.

I don't have any soldering materials. I'd prefer to waste money.
What all would I need to solder it? The little stick and some wire?

The stick, some flux and the alloy. You can get the whole thing for 25 bucks off ebay and it will last you a while.

2 questions Sup Forums

What file manager do you use for Android? Must be free (preferably as in freedom as well if that's possible)

Also what's a good IRC app for Android as well? All I use is Pidgin on Xubuntu but I want something mobile, again free if possible

I'm looking to reinstall my dingpad with a new OS.
In the past I have used Fedora, openSUSE, and have installed Arch (but never really used it).

Any suggestions for an intermediate 'room to grow' OS for someone who is neither beginner or master?

Root explorer (you can find the apk)
Amaze if you want a "free" file explorer.

I use androirc which is decent.

There are to computers in my appartment, both on wifi.
When it's just me that's connected, I get 2mb/s.
When we're both connected, I get 150 kb/s.

Why do we get rougly 10-90% instead of 50-50?
How can I fix this?

What kind of router are you using?

the brand is comtrend and I think it's optic fiber
I don't know if that answers the question

Log in and give yourself Quality of Service so the other guy's fucked over.

how do I do that?

Maybe this is more /biz/ but if I set up a porn website would it be hard to hide that I own it?

I got a gtx 970 and when I boot up my pc seems to be running on the integrated graphics bc I'm getting 30 fps. But after a couple restarts I get a solid 60. What gives. It's random but usually always requires 2 restarts. I use fallout 4 to check if my 970 is running bc the taskbar is wrong. I know it's on when I can hear the fans spool up.

what anime should I watch

Do what you would do to forward a port, just go to Administration or Applications section of the router and find QoS. Set up your MAC address with a dedicated 2 mbs

Internet forums are shit because they're populated disproportionately by losers without better stuff to do?

Ask tastekid.

How do I fix low voices on my TV for downloaded TV shows/movies without messing with other sounds? I can't find anyone discussing it for my TV (Sony W600B) so I don't know what combination of settings will fix it, there are too many variations.

Here are the sound settings for my TV if anyone can help: sony-asia.com/microsite/bravia_i-manuals/FY14/W600B/GA/c_snd_qv_se.html

What's the best way to keep your computer "clean" and running smoothly?

using socks5 proxy (with username/password)
getting error: connection not allowed by ruleset
using program proxifier portable
however its an error that can be returned by any proxy manager
checked over settings, googled, can't find an answer as to why im getting this

CCleaner is a good program, pirated version for maximum features, adjust the settings correctly & enable the "add shortcut to right-click of recycle bin for 1-click cleanup + reg cleanup
I also suggest "Trend Micro Hijack"
Using the whitelist method
basically what you do is, once you have your computer & browser & other things the way you like them, you do a "scan" with the program
all the results you get, you select them all & pick whitelist
then do the scan again, make sure you get zero results
then in the event things run like shit, or you think you maye have malware or adware or a virus or anything
do the scan again, instead of seeing no results, youll see some results
check all the results & click remove
this will undo the changes which have occurred which are causing slow down, problems, & other issues
its very nice method

>I also suggest "Trend Micro Hijack"

What should I go about upgrading first?

More hard drives.

is it possible to change the led in a cheap chink projector to a stronger led? so it would be brighter?

>GPU, get an SSD and a 144hz screen

Dunno why i done that

I'm using a RAT7 at the moment, and I'm looking for a new mouse that's better, preferably with an optical sensor. But the pinky rest that comes with the RAT7 is incredible.

Are there any other mice that have very similar pinky rests?

>I'm using a RAT7

What's the post portable way to edit text files in sh scripting?

Tshi
If < is passed into the function it should change to
#Shit

If > is passed it should change to

I've tried with sed -i (but i read it's not portable) and grep '#' | tail -n1 but it feels messy

LEDs' intensity depends on the current, not on the LED itself. You'd have to make some changes to the circuit, and they could be either relatively easy or a lot of harder stuff.

How could I move a folder from ubuntu to windows 7 that are both connected to my router?

Is the WD blue QC still acceptable, or has it gone to shit?

do you use download managers or accelerators?

which one?

DX12 is literally the only true thing in this list
7/8.1 are faster, less bloated, better game performance, way better for older hardware

Debian

I live in Brazil and I'm about to install windows 10. If what people say (that windows 10 spies on us) is true, what are the chances of Microsoft sendind FBI or CIA after me because I consume pirated games/movies?

What's the best 16:10 monitor who doesn't cost a kidney? (5K I know what a kidney cost)

...

looks good to me

you broke it. You can't put it back on. It's a flap that's meant to lift up but remain attached.

well fuck me

i got the yosemite zone iso, and it works in virtualbox. if i try booting it with my pc it doesn't work. i tried making a bootable usb with gnome-disks and dd on linux, and i tried with win32diskimager and rufus on windows. i have no idea what to do, when i choose the usb stick in my bios nothing happens, except when i use gnome-disks on linux, and i just see an error that warns of a missing file (something related to isolinux, that has nothing to do with the iso i downloaded).

i made several bootable usb sticks with linux and they always worked, so it's not an hardware problem and i think i know what i'm doing, but it just doesn't work

tl;dr how do i make a bootable usb stick for hackintosh?

Its too late, 16:9 already won and it has mass production on its side.

So I will have to resort to some overpriced apple monitors? ;_;

The audio cable for my chc silverado headphones is starting to fail, and designed the wiring for these headphones was moronic. Each ear has a stereo jack that only connects to the right channel. The default cable takes stereo and splits it into two stereos, one that maps the right channel input to right channel output, and the other maps the left channel input to right channel output. What's the easiest way to get replacement cable? I'm thinking a stereo to mono splitter, and then mono to stereo cables (the left channel outputs will go unused, but the sound ought to line up), but I'm not super familiar with audio cabling so I don't know if that will work. Help appreciated. I know I can always solder my own cables, but it'll be a minor hassle, and I won't be able to get the cables to look nice.

A buddy of mine got a used MacBook Air, and is looking for a new battery.
It's a pretty old model, like 2005, or so. (I'll ask the specifics later)

>What do I need to keep in mind when searching for the right kind of battery?
I know the model number (for example "A1245") is needed, but what else?
>What are the risks in just buying the cheapest battery from eBay with the right model name?
I mean like some 2$ shit.

I would REALLY appreciate help with this.

Pic for attention

correct

Apple doesn't make monitors anymore, and you never even specified a resolution or size.
