I think the suggestion is they'll do the design (as with the Pixel devices), not basically slap a NEXUS badge on someone else's design.

I fail to understand how this device will be any different than a Nexus phone. It'll still function the same and look similar. Still will run Android. Will still be unlocked.

Its much preferable to have decent internal storage than have to rely on SD cards.

Recent phones with UHS-I microsd card interfaces get those speeds. Like the S7 or LG G4.

UHS-II phones will support up to 312MB/s microsd cards. We're still waiting on those though.

This would be true if MLC NAND was used but V-NAND is used instead. That 90MB/s is actually the minimum write speed for that 256GB samsung microsd card. In this case the UHS-I bus is actually a bottleneck for it.

This V-NAND is the same V-NAND used in the 1337 950 pro SSD.
