>my rx480 works out the box
It's like you're being intentionally deceptive or something

Fuck off GPU shitposter
wrong thread

Most linux distros use all the hardware in my machines out of the box. With windows I have to download a gigabyte of random drivers before things even start to work properly...

Also linux is better if you just get a distro thats designed to be work for most people instead of falling for memes and installing arch or gentoo.

Ive installed both Arch and Debian and ironically Arch has better support due bleeding edge and all that

But seriously, aside from showing off my anime porn in a bash file browser, theres really nothing to do

All my hardware works on Linux the first time everytime. Works for me.

Then you probably don't do much on computers anyway.
I have not booted winblows in over a year and I spend 6-8 hours a day behind my screen.
I have never riced anything beyond changing a theme once and probably browse g 5 hours a week tops.

What exactly do you expect a computer to do?

>No hardware or software supports it

Well you installed it didn't you?

Also sage.

>No software or hardware supports it
>The newest consumer hardware release has first class support via software drivers, including vulkan
Intentionally deceptive

>everyone keeps saying im bullshitting about hardware but dont adress the software issue

Theres literally nothing to do but fuck around with the terminal, watch videos, and browse Sup Forums

One can do everything apart from playing latest directx games.

What would you be doing in Windows then? Same story but replace terminal with powershell and maybe add games.

I do all my work on Debian, and even game and watch movies/TV. It's not that hard user

What do you use your computer for?

If you aren't intending to do anything software related, then your focus shouldn't be on consumer-unfriendly sodtware.
Install Win7 and do whatever you like hardware-wise. The fact that you have nothing to do on Linux is not a flaw of GNU/Linux itself.

>no hardware or software.
>1999 called. They want their memes back.

>tfw not lacking software whether I use Linux or even OpenBSD

Make something, learn to program or take this an opportunity to stop playing video games/shitposting and go outside

>make something
????

The way that dog is posed and dressed kind of makes him look like a person; I like it.

>no hardware supports it

>bawwwww why doesn't linux offer me endless options for consumption and brainless entertainment
It's not for you

It's really its job to support hardware, not the other way `round

>$0.02 have been added to your Microsoft account, Janesh, keep up the good work.

You obviously don't do anything else on Windows either aside from maybe gaymen.

???????

>TFW even muh vidya works on arch
>I have no reason to use Windows now

What do you play, Tux Kart?

????????????~

>installing gnu/linux when all you do is play gaymes and fuck around with photos hop

I seriously don't understand why people install GNU/Linux when they know they won't use any of the specific functions that it offers.

Photoshop *

>osu! (in wine-staging)
>TF2 works, but nouveau causes some graphical glitches

I played through Max Payne 1 and 2 on Arch. 1 had some performance problems because of nouveau, and 2 had some framerate issues because of it. I wouldn't have any problems if I had a modern gpu that still has working proprietary drivers and updates for them.

Why is everyone on windows a professional artist or a mechanical engineer?
A lot of people don't need autocad or photoshop.
But if you do, linux is not for you.

gpu threads should be banned on Sup Forums. this place is pretty shit these days.

Fucking this

I'm a professional musician and audio engineer. I have a mac for it and I never touched a windows platform in any recording studio in my life.

It does though the gtx 1080 was supported a week or so before it even launched on linux and freebsd

It supports much more hardware than windows. Have you tried getting drivers for legacy hardware in newer versions of windows?

matlab works fine, I don't know what other tools people like you need.

Yeah, it's a little weird. Because everyone who makes these threads are just trying to get replies, they don't actually give a shit about anything they say. Yet people keep responding to every single thread these idiots make. Same fucking threads every day.

Linux is so advanced it can't even run video games

It's up to the devs to support Linux, not up to Linux to support gaymes.

>my operating system should be an end in itself, rather than a means to an end
>my operating system should go out of its way to entertain me
the hallmark of an unambitious NEET

You can rive windows just as good and use it

Arent most Autodesk applications on Linux?
The only thing the art community is missing from linux is a decent Photoshop

If it has no games, the OS isn't worth your time.

"Okay, kid" has never been a more fitting response.

I have only used inventor, I don't know what they offer that works on linux.
Inventor had microsoft office as a dependency, so I doubt that they will ever port that to linux.
What application were you thinking of?

why do you browse thsi board 5 hours a week

He's shitposting ironically, m8

>games something that are a waste of time render something not worth your time when the thing doesn't support it.
What wanted to say

It surprises me how much g hates video games. They're really impressive, especially if you're interested in computer hardware and computer programming. A lot of people say it's a waste of time, as if spending your time on Sup Forums is somehow more productive.

>They're really impressive, especially if you're interested in computer hardware and computer programming
they actually really used to be, but now everyone seems to use one of 5 licensed engines, rely on sheer power rather than programming tricks and efficient code, and just throw shaders at the hardware to try and simulate something approaching a realistic atmospheric distortion.

Brute force is cool and all, but thoughtful implementation is cooler, especially when your job is "make a cool game that'll sell a bunch"

The Nintendo Gamecube was the apogee of video game programming, prove me wrong.

>install windows 10
>ricing is a pain in the ass
>realize there is nothing to do on windows besides not rice and browse Sup Forums even though almost all software and hardware supports it

You can't rice it to the same extent, and ricing in windows usually means shitty third-party software like rainmeter that become useless resource hogs, unlike lightweight and minimalist implementations in GNU/Linux

Unintentional (you), here have another one

not him but you can't beat programming and writing on linux imo

I really love colored pencil art; thank you for sharing
