Laptops

What laptop is Sup Forums using?
Just got this vaio for 420AUD a few weeks ago, came with a battery dock and gives me 10+ hours with the dock attached.

unfortunately the dock does cover the vents so it runs a bit hotter with the second battery docked in.

do you like your laptop? how battery life?
what specs? hows performance? Does it overheat?

Battery is docked in right now, so it's running a little hotter than it usually would

Considering this since it's only $340 and has a 1080p display.

Solid laptop.

I fell for the T420 meme.

I like this meme.

...

Docked T420 with dual 22" dell monitors.

Why doesn't it properly identify the cpu?

About half an hour of battery life with regular usage
Overheats on WoW raids

Thinkpad T420 with Coreboot installed
Thinkpad X200 with Libreboot installed
ASUS X550LA first cuck laptop

Did you try overclocking the gpu?

I bought T460 with lowest specs but with an i5 processor. I changed the hard drive to SSD and put 8G RAM.

I love it. Battery life is beyond my expectations, it's quite likely that you won't need to charge more than once a day if you are only casually using it. I've given the specs. Performance is great so far, but I've not used it heavily since my work usually involves connecting to a server to do the heavy work. It does not.

In overall I loved it and I'm glad I bought this laptop.

>Thinkpad T420 with Coreboot installed
Is it fully compatible? any issues?

I was using a Latitude XT2. The 1GB of onboard memory died so it's kill now though. That thing was the perfect laptop for me. It sucks that it died because it's not even an excuse for buying the new laptop I wanted, I'm probably just getting another one.

Right now I'm using an IdeaPad S10

My old HP's motherboard burned down because of a problem with the charger and i found a very cheap but nice gateway (i3, 4GB RAM, 2.50 Ghz, 320 ROM) but there's a problem...

My old HP was my first computer which i had for 5 years and it only had 80GB so instead of downloading things i would bookmark them on chrome so that i would download them later when i bought and HDD or a new PC but i never bought neither because i was fine with my HP.
I had well over 200 bookmarks ranging from video games to porn and all kinds of things that are precious to me so i ask you: how can i get them back?
I had the sync off btw.

If the mobo died, the hard disk could still be fine. You think of maybe getting an enclosure or a dock? You could also repurpose the old hard disk as an external drive that way too

Yeah the hard disk is fine but i don't know how to hook it up to my new laptop as an external drive besides the dock thing but i don't have one.
I know how to retrieve the file and all i just need a way to copy it into the new HDD.

is this the new desktop thread?

Panasonic Toughbook CF-19

Around 4 hours
Gets so hot you can easily burn your hand
I love it for what it is

Why would you ask this? There's no desktop in the op

yes there is

Gaming PC, but need it for school

How?

What's a good budget laptop?

OP here. It's one of those silly Vaios with 4x64gb in raid 0.

T420

I need a 13 inch lightweight laptop, preferably with an i5. Budget is around 600$ and I don't want refurbished stuff.

In the same boat as you. Need light weight, long battery life and it has to be snappy. Compute performance wont really matter.

Lenovo 3000 G530
It has less than 10 minute battery life, it's like a weak thinkpad

x220

>lightweight
>not refurbished

X220

asus f302la

Hp stream 11, lenovo ideapad 100s

How the fuck is a x220 not lightweight?

How is it lightweight and not used or refurbished?

EliteBook 6930p with two SSDs.

11 inches is too small, but that asus one looks mighty interesting. Cheers.

Has the Asus got a good battery life?

It's only 1.3kg, that's pretty lightweight.

Thanks for the reply. I also use a mobile sandy i7. N57SM to be specific.
>inb4 dem bezels

Average battery. With the haswell model they were getting 6 hours with Wi-Fi on and max brightness just looping movies and shit. I'd assume the 5200u model would have slightly better battery life.

pcworld.idg.com.au/review/asus/zenbook-ux303ln/559343/

aayyyy I have the N53SM, fucking thing has

>Elitebook 2570p
Currently has a 6 cell battery, 320GB HDD and 1x4GB DDR3 module, and the i5-3360M (2.8GHz)
I plan on putting a 1TB HDD for storage, and a cheap 256GB SSD in the optical drive bay for the OS
And I'm going to get either 4 or an 8GB DDR3 module because 4GB single chanel isn't good enough
Might also buy a 9 cell battery and a quad core i7 CPU that's up to 45W in TDP
Too bad you can't upgrade the LCD to an IPS panel one, it's the only bad thing about the laptop.

Based n53bro. Our configs are really similar except I upgraded the RAM to 16gb and swapped the dvd drive for an ssd. By the way are those idle temps?

Yep, It's fucked!

I've had this bitch for 4-5 years now, can't be fucked buying a new pc, I rarely gayme on it anyway.

You can fit two hard drives on a T420?

And a mSATA SSD.

I'm getting this

You can pull the CD drive from the Ultrabay and replace it with other stuff like an HDD caddy or a battery.

battery isnt an option on the Sup Forums memed t420. only the "s" variants iirc.

did you flash a custom bios for that? iirc if you want to add 16gb of ram you have a 100% cpu usage right?

I just got my t460p today, and goddamn is it fast. Best purchase I ever made.

Thanks Sup Forums!

I have 2 different refurbished HP ProBooks. There was a time in my life where I owned consumer-grade laptops. No longer

No, its the stock BIOS. i only think that that issue is with the X220 and an EGPU. I only have 8 installed so i dont know, but i havent heard of any issues like that.
