Because, I don't know how to install a desktop environment.

im using gentoo

i have no reason to

Because after using it for a while I realized all the distros are the same and not worth optimizing.

I still want to create my own distro though.

It

is this the new desktop thread

>arch
>professional

LOL NO. Most professionals use Fedora, Ubuntu/Debian, or Gentoo.

You have exactly one light year to explain why I should use it.

Alright, so I know this is a troll because as great as Arch is, it's certainly not what I'd call "professional".

Also I don't use it because I'm a RedHat certified engineer and I run CentOS servers at work, so it's super comfy to come home to my Fedora desktop.

>professional
What exactly is your job OP? lmao
Systemd and software anarchy

professional enough for me lads

In other words you're not a professional. You just use Arch Linux because you think it makes you 1337 but it doesn't.

That's just bad practice.

Gentoo

Gintii

I use it because it works and doesn't shit itself regularly like CentOS.

> --skip-broken / can't update at all
> have to spent x hours after every big update to get shit running again
> outdated packages

Because it's a hobbist distro, not professional.

Because Windows 10 is the universal professional operating system.

Desktop threads are back!!

>>>/reddit/

this is not a desktop thread, it is a thread about professional individuals using Arch Linux in the work place. NEETS

I do all my work on my gentoo box.

What-it?

>this is not a desktop thread, it is a thread about professional individuals using Arch Linux in the work place
Soo, desktop thread?

>professional
>anything other than *bsd

>Professional
>Anything other than Windows 10
Grow up.

...

You got me there

>Larry Wall
>Desktop: Linux Mint with Cinnamon
Accomplishments: Perl, patch, FSF award, twice IOCCC winner, worked for the Jet Propulsion Lab

>Linux Torvalds
>Desktop: Fedora with GNOME and later XFCE

>Sup Forums
>Desktop: Arch with dark-like-my-soul tiling WM
Accomplishments: ?

Is there a correlation?

>picosecond
you can't even get down to microsecond timings on Arch
t. rt-kernel Gentoo master race

Then use ubuntu server.
>Stable.
>Mostly up to date packages.

I'm not 16 anymore.

(I types this all in under a picosecond, I'm the motherfucking Flash).

Figure this is good a place as any.

I tried installing Arch on virtual box. I finished the entire Beginners Installation page on the wiki and when I rebooted I unmounted the original install iso it said it couldn't find the boot file. Is this something I did wrong or is it an issue with virtual box?

- bloated kernel
- bloated packages
- doesn't respect my freedoms
- doesnt care about the community

you fucked up, post some screenshot

>- bloated kernel
arch support custom kernels
>- bloated packages
still less bloated than downloading source code
>- doesn't respect my freedoms
fuck off richard
>- doesnt care about the community
arch community is the best, why should we care about the plebs?

but I am op

Because I am a professional.

I think you missundeestand the point of Arch

I'm at work for the next 10 hours but I will when I'm home of threads still alive
