Buy both and compare...
Oh wait
1060 because I play video games that aren't Ashes of the Singularity
480 if you plan to keep it for more than a year, 1060 otherwise.
480 may have more juice left for future games. 1060 is as fast as it will ever be.
Also, 256bit bus and 8GB of VRAM.
And Open Source drivers.
And Async compute for shitty CPUs.
And you aren't supporting Jews.
>(including aftermarket for both)
The 480 because it's $100 cheaper but only performs very slightly worse, it will perform better with new games that come out in the future, it has 8GB of ram vs the 1060's 6GB, and best of all you'll actually be able to buy them from retailers without getting completely ripped off and told to wait weeks for new stock to come in.
Not OP, but my GPU died and I decided to get a 480. Should I wait for non-reference versions?
yes
the golden rule of gpu buying: NEVER buy, ALWAYS wait
1060 seems more promising than the RX480 ever was.
If history repeats itself, RX480 will provide better performance over time compared to the 1060. You will also have more choices for multi-gpu if support for it becomes not shit in the near future.
The RX480 aftermarkets will be a nice bump in performance for the price as well if you were considering waiting for a few weeks.
>1060 already released for like a 1week and nobody reviews it
ah yes jewidia made a paper launch because their yields are trash like the 1070/80 again.
LEL
Wait yourself into a coffin.
Just get a reference model if you have no GPU at all, the wait won't benefit you too much.
But whatever.
in 2-3 years rx 480 will be too weak to play any AAA game with high settings/1080p so who cares about future? In 3 years you will changing gpu anyway. Also gtx 1060 oc very well so it outperforms rx 480 in dx12. Vulkan doesn't matter since nobody will be using that. Only dx12 matters.
>The 480 because it's $100 cheaper
user stop raping logic,
also bonus gtx 1060 is cheaper in europe than rx 480
get gtx 1060, oc to 1900-2000mhz and get 15% better performance than AYYYMD just for $10 more, or $30 less if you live in europe
Canada fag here.
Rx 480 is running for around $300 for the 4gb and $350+ for the 8gb. If the 1060 is around the same price would it be better to go with it?
Depends on how long you want to wait I guess user. If you're really in need for a gpu buy one but if you can wait I'd wait.
We won't know until the benchmarks come out, and anyone saying otherwise is either lying or an idiot.
yes, gtx 1060 is 10% better and 15% better with oc
Hey just curious user, I'm running a bit of an older i5 cpu. how does Async work exactly?
Thanks guys, I'll wait and see the prices to be sure.
>Vulkan doesn't matter
being this dumb
