Sometime mid August. AMD has to fill back orders on their reference cards due to high demand. So AIB partners are running late. AMD expected high demand just not this high. Blame coin miners and overhype.
Blake Perez
Gibbo 'This Friday looks unlikely to be honest, but I am awaiting an update from Sapphire.'
Oh FFS! 1060 reviews are out later today and AMD has no AIB reviews for the 480. AMD fucking up AGAIN!
David James
>300 euro are you kidding me?
Daniel Gutierrez
How do I pre-order the damn thing in Murica?
Jace Howard
Europe gets fucked over on everything no surprises there.
Levi Stewart
>GB >EU
Brody Sanchez
You can't unless you import it. Mid to late August for you guys I would guess. AMD really fucked up by not allowing AIB partners to release their own cards on launch day like Nvidia has. Now there will be no reviews of AIB 480's to compare against 1060 AIB's later today. People will go buy the GTX 1060 because there are no 480 AIB's to buy.
Blake Wright
>calling third party cards "Add In Cards" Fuck off cunt reference cards are also "Add In Cards"
Asher Martin
I blame /r/amd.
Jeremiah Stewart
to be fair nvidia didn't this time around. aib partners had to wait i think two weeks? before they could release theirs.
granted not as long as of a wait like amd.
Benjamin Davis
bump
this
Dominic Sullivan
Can someone even tell me what's difference between pic related and AMD's reference card? Is it just the reference being sold by Sapphire instead?
It seems fucking useless....
Brandon Sanders
3 Sapphire cards
-Nitro -Nitro+ -Toxic
Jack Stewart
People still mine coins?
Landon Sullivan
That is a reference card sold by Sapphire you moron
Yes, AMD does not sell cards directly to consumers(well not a lot of them). They use distributors to sell their cards. This way AMD does not have to worry about the promotion in stores, warranties and other sales related things. So yes its just a reference.
Luis Flores
Holy shit I thought Nvidia was going to release a slower card! Who the fuck would have seen that coming!~!~!~!~! WOW!~!~!
Adam Cook
ok?
but sapphire nitro or asus strix?
Charles Price
Sapphire have better clocks but get what has better warranty in your region. Sapphire almost always make better coolers than Asus.
Isaac Phillips
Oh sorry I read your question wrong. I have personal experience with both cards. Asus quality with motherbaords are good, with Graphics cards...fucking horrable. Their 480 Strix looks really nice but I don't like the quality of their coolers. I would go with the better built Sapphire or MSI
Levi Green
didnt amdrones expected 1400 or 1500 clocks? KEK
Jordan Jenkins
its a pajeet
and what is he running the ashes and tomb raider on? dx11 or dx12?
also some of his benchmarks don't match most review sites. his are lower.
also how the fuck did a random ass pajeet get a 1060?
Chase Perez
>didnt nvidiots expect Maxwell to get DX12 async support? KEK
Matthew Cruz
obvs lower, since his rig is shit compared to reviewers. i think reviewing cards like 1060 and 480 with 6700k and 32gb 4000mhz isnt fair or actually shows real performance. It just shows potential max performance, but IRL thats just retarded setup,
Ethan Parker
...
Nolan Sanders
I have until 6pm to pre order the Nitro+ so I am gonna look hard at the benchmarks later on today and see how the 1060 performs. It does not give me a lot of time to make a decision plus I have a fucking dental appointment at 3pm. The 1060's go on sale at OCUK at 2pm! They'll probably run out when I do get to decide. Jesus fuck this is the worst GPU launch ever!
Ryan Hernandez
I should go get some sleep thinking about it. UK fag here.
Luis Kelly
Can you cancel the preorder at any time?
Luke Moore
Yes I cancelled once already. I was going to get a 1070 but cancelled that too. Twice. I can't make my fucking mind up anymore.
Lincoln Stewart
Just don't fall for benches like this...Turns out 3D marks DX12 bench was not fully or even any ASync capabilities.
Jackson Flores
yeah but i just got done looking at a few ashes benchmarks and the 480 is faster than the 1060.
like pic related. processors are at stock and in ashes are near the same to each other in performance.
Andrew Turner
>poolaris
Brandon Thomas
This is what I fucking figured out before anyone else stated it. The code just treats both cards as dumb GPU's instead of pushing each GPU's strengths to their max. It's comparing apples to pineapples. Fucking pointless. It should lean on the strengths of each card and fucking use them to give a fair benchmark.
Owen Turner
here's another with the same cpu as the 1060 and its still faster than the 1060.
Brayden Butler
Videocardz said these benches was not relevant because 5820k vs 6700k
Aiden Sanders
NOT TO BE A TROLL, BUT ISNT IT COUNTER PRODUCTIVE TO RUN MULTIPLE AMD CARDS?
Ayden Davis
mfw He has a good point and i'm getting 2
Zachary Sanchez
Depends on what yo're doing with them and if it's gaming what game? I play BF4 works really well with crossfire. I use double the energy of one card but I get higher frame rates than some top end cards.
Robert Wright
>buying a shit card to play 1 game sasuga amdiots
Oliver Clark
Here come the clicbait links. Crysis 3 4K @ 60 fps? kekkity kek. Look at all those cores!
>Will be cocked at 2000MHz and hold a 60 degree temp while under load on the stock cooler
Easton Parker
So if I must buy a GPU right now, and leaning towards the RX 480, would it be wise to pre-order the Nitro+ or just wait for the whole array of different vendors? I don't have a dedicated GPU right now, just the intel hd 530.
Charles Sanchez
Asus has a Strix model coming out in August that knocks the boost clock up to 1400 MHz. If you can wait, you should at least wait until you can see how the two compare.
Adrian Lee
>are you kidding me?
Jack Jones
I am getting tired of waiting. Something always is "just around the corner".
Blake Morris
That's what happens when your cuck nations belong to the worse union in history. Be smart, and start the movement to get /out/
Michael Walker
I'm super fucking confused now. After the release of the 1060, local retailer just brought down the price of the R9 Fury to 500 dollarydoos.
Considering the Nitro is going to be at least $450, I'm really not sure whether or not it's going to be worth it anymore.
Is there any reason I should go for the 480 over the fury?
James Turner
Question time,
Should I wait for rx480 nitro+ and get it for 250 quid or just get a 1060 for the same price?
I'm coming from 770 and use it for 1080p.
Jacob Peterson
How much is the Nitro+ in murrica?
William Mitchell
480. It's a lot more future proof keeping Vulkan and DX12 in mind.
Plus njewdia literally the 1060 un-SLI'able because they're fucking chinky kikes. No reason to support that shitty practice.
Ryan Ross
Well I do dislike nvidia for their shitty practices and how keppler cards were gimped.
Will just wait for nitro then.
Matthew Kelly
One other question, should I get nitro+ or nitro+ oc the only difference is 40mhz on the boost clock and that it is priced at 239 instead of 249.
Dominic Morgan
>tfw missed the $299 nitro fury on newegg earlier today
JUST
Henry Moore
>poolaris lol
Adrian Cooper
>he didn't use the $25 off coupon on top
FUCK
Levi Brooks
No, they don't, not with GPU's anyway
It'll be really interesting to see how a MSI 480 twin frozr does up against a 1060 twin frozr
Linustechtip review of 1060 is avsuolutely fucking hilarious. It literally only shows 4-5 games and all of them are GameWorks titles in DX11 and games that have the option for DX12 mode are still only running in DX11 mode. I shit you not it's actually disgusting.
Hudson Jackson
Dumb question: how does the 480 fare for OpenCL workloads?
Logan Torres
JUST
Samuel Campbell
less than the 390x, but it has hardware supported h.265 and tech for streaming
