dead

isn't that supposed to go with the 1976 keycaps?

yep

the cable has the wrong connector, so i can't use it, and i'm not sure i'll keep the keycaps, but going to give them a shot.

first for the half shit ml switches that I need to lube

what
s a good lube?

I ended up using this
techkeys.us/collections/accessories/products/krytox-switch-lurbricant
But I probably would go for this
zealpc.net/collections/accessories/products/ghlube
if I were to buy more

the zeal thick lube can apparently be used on springs too, whereas the krytox thick lube made some testing switched I had feel sluggish.

I skipped that drop

I can't wait to hear the whining about this set though
i really wish i would have ordered the planck kit now

>estimated shipping in Nov

To do you guys think it is worth it to lube gateron blacks or are they smooth ebough?

I find it curious how my caps from a drop shipped nearly 2 weeks before estimated shipping date. And shipping only took 7 days to get to me in yuroop, not half bad.

>trying to get used to blacks after using blues for years

I've had just one drop ship ahead of schedule

Their shipping methods just seem to be getting worse
using DHL to ship within the US should be a crime

Anyone know the best place to buy Varmilo keyboards in the UK?

Alp dsa where

understandable

and I think jukebox looks pretty cool. at least when it's not overloaded with novelty keycaps (which I still don't get the appeal of).

and same, I regret not getting a planck 1976 set too, and I hope to get in on the next planck drop (assuming they do another drop with the wood sides)

pimpmykeyboard.com/dsa-alps-mount-1-space-pack-of-10/

are browns really shit? blues sound too loud but reds and black dont sound that satisfying. Which from the 4 should I get? Mostly for gaming and for some typing.

Why is dhl bad for shipping within the US?

what are cherry mx speed switches? Should I choose corsair k70 or cm quickfire ultimate? Thats basically all the known boards I have available.

they take 5 days to travel 4 states then hand it off to USPS nowhere near my state.

does anyone have experience with waterproof mechanical keyboards?
searched all over and everything i find is a brand i've never heard of: dont know what to trust

you use your keyboard in the bath?

hyperhydrosis and hyperhyropesis

o shit

got myself a quickfire xt for 50€, build quality feels way more solid than the corsair k70 I had

already had o-rings installed which I was planning to remove, but blues with o-rings feel pretty damn nice

Quick! Someone post the Sup Forums mechanical keyboard switch comparison chart!

...

thanks, friend!

lmgtfy.com/?q=hyperhyropesis

This is very interesting. You're the only thing that shows up when I google that.

Nice to see those spacebars made it to you. Enjoy.

You should get a switch tester

browns do not feel as advertised

what is that beauty

Mech keyboard question. I own the K70 RGB, and "w" sometimes doesn't register presses sometimes. I cleaned up the whole keyboard yesterday with isopropyl alcohol & destilled water, especially that switch, but it still hasn't gone away completely. Will I have to replace the switch/is the switch failing because of something that has entered the inner part of the switch? P.S. I have Cherry MX Reds.

what is the poor man's mechanical keyboard ?

hyperhyROPEsis
>rope
a common slang word for male ejaculate
it was a crude joke you autist.

Originally an AEK II, had a swedish dude help me with the plate, handwired it, and chiseled out a solid block of maple wood to fit the internals. Still needs to be hooked up to a controller and a finish needs to be added to the case.

I have a build log that's in dire need of updating somewhere on geekhack

Sounds like a cold solder joint. Open it up and apply some solder to the contacts.

Help us build a better keyboard.

docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSczo0v2fMtA2cvFu5CVXg4SHaELWfWva88yllXu8gv4Xr2o0g/viewform

Looking forward to seeing how this develops further. Keep it up and good luck user.

is that a kbp v60

Ortholinear plz

this guy

you should sell diy kit's
most people will not pay this much for a keyboard but i would easily pay 100$ or so if that means i do the soldering and get the keycaps myself

We're aiming for a $200 kit like the Yoda.

We've done the math over and over and getting the price under $200 seems totally impossible at the moment short of removing the chassis and keycaps from the kit.

However, $200 is our end goal sometime next year, with $300 assemblies for the first retail run.

200 for a kit sounds fine, a bit cheap if anything given that the case is metal and it comes with keycaps

if you remove the switches, the keycaps, and the soldering?

personally i have keyboards laying around that i dont use that i could salvage switches and keycaps from if that means a lower price

i just think making so you choose what pieces you want to purchase is a good idea for something so expensive

you should take a look at how winkeyless sells their customs and consider doing it like they do it (if you havent already)

Would like to switch to blues for the more clicky feel, but reds are what i'm used to right now

ANSI

80%, or a 60% if it doesn't combine too many keys
>Backlight
Doesn't need one, but if it has per-key backlighting that'd be nice
>Previous/current keyboards
Logitech G610 w/ reds, looking for something smaller, since i don't use the numpad anyways

Would like something I could easily find new keycaps for, or just something with pbt douible shot keys

just get a poker

this one?

impossible to beat this deal for genuine MX blues

amazon.com/Mechanical-Keyboard-Cherry-MX-Blue-Switch/dp/B00T1UGZ2C

yes but why would you want genuine cherry blues?
they are an embarrassment to gaterons

>caps requires two key presses

fk u
posting reds

old Thinkpad and rubber domes of varying shittiness

I like the WASD V2/CODE's features and replaceable cable, but I'd like to see some other options before pulling the trigger.

actually those are keycaps

amazon.it/gp/aw/d/B0156UBYJY/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?__mk_it_IT=ÅMÅZÕÑ&qid=1468951023&sr=8-1&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=trust tastiera&dpPl=1&dpID=41Yrfe5CWmL&ref=plSrch

> wired
> waterproof
> no gimmicky features
> only 7.99 €
Am I missing anything? Is there a valuable reason why I should look for more expensive stuff? It looks like this mech keyboard has everything I need and it looks solid enough to work well for a long time. Most of the reviews are positive.

Model M, POK3R 60%

I want to try the nip layout. It would be best if I can reprogram those extra keys they have.

what the heck makes you think that it's a mechanical keyboard

It looks like a mechanical keyboard to me

it's not a mechanical keyboard, it is very clearly a rubber dome keyboard

you're blind nigga

Yes, keyboards look like keyboards. You're still a fucking dumbass.

What switches does it use?

im buying this lads

Ok sorry my bad, I didn't look at the image very well. What can you tell me about this keyboars instead? amazon.it/gp/aw/d/B01D7ZUC52/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?__mk_it_IT=ÅMÅZÕÑ&qid=1468952125&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=tastiere meccaniche&dpPl=1&dpID=51CIMPT8seL&ref=plSrch

This should be mechanical.

Any recommendations on sub-$100 chinkshit keyboards, preferably tenkeyless?

I'm familiar with a lot of the better known brands, but as a college student I'm looking to save some money.

find a cheap model m at a thrift store

Magicforce if you want chinkshit.

it looks whatever, it's probably fine, but it's also probably a no-name repackaging of some chinese board, so there's no real way to tell

What's the most silent mechanical keyboard that money can buy? I want to try one out since you fags keep circlejerking on them like they're the next best thing since sliced bread, but the clacking sound they make makes me want to kill myself.

Hhkb type s

Silenced Topre or o-ringed tactile/silent Cherry MX. You're probably not going to find one laying around to try out.

There are o-rings you can buy to make them quieter, and as long as you avoid blues you should be okay.

Thanks, I'll look it up.

I mean try one out as in try using a mechanical keyboard, I don't mean any specific model.

I'm not much into DIY tech customization.

Putting o-rings on is literally lifting the keycap off, sliding the ring on, and the replacing the cap. Don't be such a baby.

The only thing easier than putting on an o-ring is inserting a cd or a usb. A kid with Downs could be taught how to do it in under 5 minutes and would probably never fuck up.

What are the best switches for gaming? Red? Why?

...

that's completely subjective

You faggots waiting for any interesting keyboards to arrive?

waiting to find a good price for a model m on ebay and also waiting for my gateron blacks to arrive so i can replace my cherrys

mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=1668

>Varmilo VA87M
>$124

Is it worth?
I'm on the market for my first mechanical, and this one caught my eye.
Anyone have experience with this model or brand?

Novatouch Keyboard just came in...my fingers are fucking loving this.

fc660m from korea, enjoypbt keycaps from china

>no numpad

Are you a savage?

i can count the number of times ive used my numpad on one hand

even if you do need a numpad having them on the right side of the keyboard is completely autistic

they're good, but no better than this board at half the price

amazon.com/Mechanical-Keyboard-Cherry-MX-Blue-Switch/dp/B00T1UGZ2C

the difference between a fullsized and a tkl is only like 2 inches lol
not a big difference

try more like 5-6"

I just picked up a Northgate Omnikey 102, ill post pics when im home of anyone wants to see/hear opinions.

Cherry ml switches are cozy. Mine are a little stiff, but that travel distance can't be beat.

How long should I wait after cleaning it to plug it back in?

Are thick PBT keycaps going to cause keys to stick on Costar stabilized boards?
Also, has anyone ever used mechanical keyboards.com?

>Are thick PBT keycaps going to cause keys to stick on Costar stabilized boards?
that shouldn't be a problem

what keycaps are you considering?

>Also, has anyone ever used mechanical keyboards.com?
yes a few times, it's always been a smooth and quick process

not a problem for me

I don't know man, I'm looking to spend max $40 on some PBT keycaps for my TKL
I saw some vortex ones for $40, and honestly like the look of front printed keycaps.
Was going to get Tai-Hao before since they were on Amazon, but they seem ugly and apparently are thin and defeat the purpose of the satisfying PBT feel.

Those look chunky
I'm just typing on pad printed legends on the shittiest stock ABS keycaps I've ever seen

>typing on a mechanical keyboard after being used to laptop and low-profile keyboards

the keys feel way too high

Cheery ML

was looking at those, but it seems like there's barely any boards with those

I think I'll just try to get used to the regular cherries and if I can't I'll switch back to my good old low-profile rubber dome
