Is building a pc impressive to normies?

The components literally snap in place, you literally can't go wrong.

It is if you're a Nigerian immigrant.

Yes, because most people don't realize how easy it is. They hear "I built a computer" and instead of thinking large-scale Legos, they think super genius fucking hacker. I speak from experience when trying to convince my parents to let me buy parts for my first build several years back.

"Talented" White / Asian person discovers a cure for a disease, or discovers a planet
"Talented" African puts electronic component together with a help of a video guide.

>Is building a pc impressive to normies?

When a monkey does it, yeah.

For a nigga thats pretty talented

This. Same with clock boy, it's because they are shitskins.
If you're white or asian you're probably just a future school shooter.

The article is straight retarded. The kid won a hackathon and works on games, but the article barely includes that information as a footnote despite being actually kind of impressive for an eleven year old. So yes I guess that building a computer is impressive to normies. Don't know what else you'd expect from The Voice though. Even normies think it's retarded.

I seriously think it is. The majority of the people don't think of it as "something you can't possibly fuck up" or "expensive Legos". Talk with someone about it who doesn't know how easy it is and they're impressed. Talk with someone who knows how easy it is and you'll likely skip over the "I built it myself part" entirely and just start talking about what's inside... Or maybe there's a rare breed of retard out there who's seen videos but is too dumb to use tools to put the motherboard, PSU, fans and disks in place.

Anybody can do it if all goes well. In that case its like legos. But when things don't go according to plan you have to know what you are doing.

There is nothing worse than trying to figure out why your PC isn't posting. For anybody vaguely familiar with computers it shouldn't be that impressive.

fact number one: theyre normies, theyre easy to impress

fact number two: building a (motor)bike is similar easy, the parts snap in place aswell, yet people have sometimes expensive mechanics work for them.

case closed

>tfw you built your first computer and thought you had a broken component, then someone else noticed you hadn't plugged the CPU power in
Young me felt dumb that day.

if it aint posting and you don't know how to fix it, you shouldnt be building pc's in the first fucking place.

>Is building a pc impressive to normies?
Yes.

A few more:
-Googling a solution for a problem? Impressive!
-You can change your desktop wallpaper? Impressive!
-You can write hello world in HTML? Impressive!
-Your PC is virus free even without an anti-virus? Wow!
-You know other keyboard shortcuts BESIDES ctrl+c/v? Amazing!

A lot of the people I know don't even know Ctrl-C/V. They can barely use the fucking right click context menus to copy paste. That's the level normies are at.

>"Wow user, you built that computer?! Your dick must be this big!"

>She isn't wrong doe

People assume it's harder than it really is. They just need to try it some time.

I'm personally impressed.
I've never built my own computer, just little things like add disks or RAM. Pretty impressed this young buck had the cajones to pull this off.

>mfw that post is one big sexual innuendo

You know you guys talk about this article a lot more than anyone else does.

Was impressive 25 year ago, when you have to manage dma/irq and shit with bios and hdd cylinders/heads.

My boss at the second job I worked at.

Task: Copy a file from one location to another.

Steps
0- Close all windows
1- Right click Start icon
2- Select Windows Explorer
3- Right click C drive.
4- Choose "Open"
5- Right click "Users"
6- Choose "Open"
...
12- Arrive at STARTING location of file
13- Right click file
14- Choose "Copy"
15- CLOSE ALL WINDOWS
16- Right click Start icon
17- Select Windows Explorer
18- Right click C drive.
19- Choose "Open"
20- Right click "Users"
21- Choose "Open"
...
26- Arrive at new TARGET location of file
27- Right click folder in Explorer
28- Select paste

>Sir, you can have two windows open and copy/paste in 2 seconds, instead of taking 15 minutes for this.
>No, son. This way is safer.

It's hard. First you need to stole the parts...

It says he saved up 600 England dollars for parts. I don't think he stole them but exchanged currency for them.

We don't know how he obtained those liquid assets though.

I bet you white bois are all butthurt at his accomplishments.

Did any of you fags build a professional server computer like that when you were 11?

prob had to steal like 3 bikes to get the money

Is there a point to building PCs when all-in-ones are so cheap nowadays?

>It's literally lego

lol. Are you bitter you're not a kid anymore?

there's literally a thousand+ videos on how to do it step by step.

this isn't the 90s.
you can't fuck up.

>you literally can't go wrong

But companies don't sell individual parts, advertising "build your own bike" user.

Also they can delibirately make bikes/cars harder to build, so you have to pay these expensive mechanics.

built mine at 12 in 1999.

dont recall anything complicated apart from the master slave jumpers on hdd's

Installing windows using a bootable floppy was fun though :D

There are infuriating moments sometimes. I built a few in the past. Once I encountered a bad motherboard. It took a while to figure it out, but sometimes things are just bad.

LYes.

Wait, we had this thread yesterday

if he had welded all the parts himself etc. ok sure

not if he just tetris'd them together.

Well, you can fucking zap it, can't you?

The most talented part about it is that he managed to steal everything required without getting caught.

Is he the next tech nigger?

>You know other keyboard shortcuts BESIDES ctrl+c/v?
There's other shortcuts? WTF MATE

he was doing it for attention

Even here within 4chiners hall of nerds, you fucks still have to be racist. Wtf guys give that shit a break. You aren't the edge lord you think you are.

Do you honestly believe someone who managed to install a 3rd party heatsink on cpu doesn't know how to install an I/O shield and bolt the mb to the case?

I'm black and I built a network at a clinic am I cool?

yeah, try this super special one

> ALT+F4

There was a time when building your own computer was not, in fact, legos, and normies haven't really updated their stereotypes since then.

>literally

...

>White / Asian person discovers

You realise that the Ashkenazi Jews are the mustard race when it comes to intelligence, right?

Do you know what percentage of Nobel Prize winners are Jewish, friend?

I made my first pc back in 2007 when I was 9, who cares

(You)

>Ashkenazi
White. How many Sephardim or Mizrahi Laureates are there?

when is your birthday?

1997

the date asshole not the year

October 1

Old people will think "wow can you fix my computer for free?" and young people will think "wow you have way too much time on your hands".

Basically nobody other than other techies will care

You are too skeptical. I know people IRL who managed braking PCI-E slots and putting HDD right on the videocards when building the PC by themselves.

>install an I/O shield
Gr8b8.

Why so curious user?

>bunch of 20 and 30 year old white adults need to try to denigrate an 11 year old to feel good about themselves
lel

It's pretty impressive for an 11 year old. I was dumb as shit at 11 as I'm sure most of you were as well.

It doesn't help though that everyone who's never done it thinks it's super impressive. I was replacing my PSU yesterday and my roommate said "wow you're so smart". I don't know jack shit about computers other than "if it fits, it probably goes in there"

to be fair though there are a lot of ways to fuck up if you're not careful

>forgot standoffs
>hotswapped parts never meant to be hotswapped
>manhandled the cpu and bent the pins
>too much thermal paste if you're not using stock
>ram in wrong slots
>didn't hook up the power cables right to all components
>i guess you could fuck up the boot order somehow
>be the in a thousand who actually does damage a component with ESD
>wrong size PSU

yeah, all of those are easy to avoid if you're careful and do your research, but do you think non-tech people care enough to do the research?

well he supposedly failed at that didn't he?
He fucked up the most simple and basic stuff and got some that is harder right.

this, for an 11 year old that is fairly impressive. I think I installed my first video card around 11, but def not a full pc build. Putting the pieces together is easy, but the wiring, compatibility and getting everything actually working can be headache. Something always goes kind of wrong, I've never had a build go 100% without a hitch

>try to denigrate
I don't think such procedure has been developed. Pretty sure being a nigger is a life-long condition.

>bent the pins
nobody buys amd
>ram in wrong slots
that is pretty hard to do since most mb work as long as you put both of them on the same color ram slot and as far as installing ram the wrong way it's impossible without breaking it
>didn't hook up the power cables right to all components
It doesn't turn on and if you forget something like the cpu one some motherboards actually give you a warning

Putting the ram in the wrong color slots is what I meant with that comment.

All of these seem easy to you. You're at least double this kid's age. He's probably just becoming aware of himself for the first time. Before puberty you have no interest or awareness of how you look or act.

But you have to put each stick in a different color for that to happen and even then I think most modern motherboards would tell exactly how you fucked up.
I know they just make better retards but companies have been hard at work making every single aspect of building a computer retarded proof

I've been building computers by myself since I'm 12 son, and 15 years ago there was a lot more you could fuck up and a lot less guides.

You must be a Mensa member too.

>well he supposedly failed at that didn't he?
Are you tarded? I imply that this i/o shield is not mandatory and only fags installs them.

oh, so you were pretending to be a retard
sorry I didn't catch that

Eyy Oct 5th 96 here

Underrated post

this is thoroughly demoralising

please post a trigger warning in future

Probably because people say they "built" a pc. It makes it sound more complicated and impressive than it really is. "Assembled" is a better word. It more accurately describes what is actually going on.

The only barrier for me was being obsessed with static electricity and doing everything ultra slow and carefully like I was working on a nuclear reactor.

>beefy rig

motherboard.vice.com/read/pc-gaming-is-still-way-too-hard?trk_source=popular

>2001
>literally no choice but good CPUs since Duron/Celeron had 90% of the performance for 10% of the cost
>everything ran on OEM PSUs

The only thing you could fuck up was getting a Geforce MX instead of a real card or some budget 15 or 17 incher that could only do 1024x768 instead of 19"+ at glorious 1600x1200

Now you could end up buying AMD on a Raidmax PSU with a Kingston SSD.

> I had to run a SATA cable behind the motherboard to a separate card so the fans could get power

wut

is this something I'm not aware of or is he using a data cable to provide power to fans?
running it behind (under?) the motherboard?

Computers are racist so it makes sense that this was news-worthy

Shut up faggot. If you so easily offended go somewhere else.

On topic: probably. Even more so in third-world countries like USA I suppose.

I thought it was cool that Terry crews built am x99 machine, he's a pretty based guy.

here i ll blow your mind m8y

ctrl+shift+ESC

Think he means SATA power cable from the PSU

>It's hard to put all these PC parts together because they're made by different companies
this guys a fucking moron

>there isn't even pressure from consumers to come up with better, universal standards
what more could you possibly want

built my coworkers pc last week and his house mates walked by and they were all super impressed
had quite a bit of roadbumps thanks to windows 10 not being friendly with nvidia and windows 10 just being windows 10
so much for having better driver support

They need to make them easy like TV

"non-tech" people should pay lazy/notime/dumbass tax by buying a prebuilt or having it assembled for them

>you literally can't go wrong.
you are retarded

DON'T DO THIS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!

It's indeed impressive, for a nigger. Niggers have low IQ and managing to build a PC from components is indeed a feat worthy praise and a place in the ever so thin books of nigger history. This is one of the top-10 achievements of nigger race in 21st century,

...

There are a few ways you can go wrong, such as plugging the power button switch backward, but yeah.

>Maybe if I use the word "literally" in every sentence people will care
Illiterate retard.

It's been 2 months, if ur still bitching about this is it no wonder blacks still bring up slavery?
