Shit OP again

Welcome to Sup Forums. Enjoy your stay during the summer.

complete noob to IEMs here. I'm just wondering what size of IEM tips to use?
I've tried small and can't hear much bass, and large can't hear anything around me.

Any idea if there are any good? Why are they so cheap?

Am I better off getting Pistons 3?

>make a shit OP
>continue to trash the thread with inane memes

Anything that fits and this is completely individual. Most decent IEMs come with multiple tips and there are plenty of aftermarket tips available too.

Good quality but they were kind of small and hurt my head + ears, I just want my new headphones to have the same or higher quality sound, and preferably have a physical volume slider/adjuster but thats not crucial

yeah shouldnt be an issue.

Will the meze 99 classics need a dac/amp? Is the E10k good enough for it?

>Will the meze 99 classics need a dac/amp?
amp, no. DAC, probably not.
>Is the E10k good enough for it?
yes.

So yeah I bought one of these in a sale mainly for gaming.
They'll arrive next week and now I am wondering if an AMP is really required. I've heard the K612 Pro (120 Ohms) are working on ordinary onboard soundcards, however pretty low volume and no word about audio quality.

The K702 here have 62 Ohms and I got a Realtek ALC1150 onboard which is supposed to be one of the best onboard-soundcards on gaming mobos.

Will this work decently? Beacuse I'm pretty much out of money now.

Yeah your mobo should drive them loud enough. I can listen to them quite loud even on my PC, which has a shitty Realtek ALC 272.

So I have this headset, Steelseries Siberia V3.
Out of pure curiosity, how would you guys rate it?

I'm using it for gaming, listening to music, watching stuff, etc.
It's easily the comfiest shit ever, but I'm just wondering if you guys hate/love it or something.

How should I know if I need something better than my onboard sound card to drive specific headphones?

I'm just saying because when I raise the volume just high enough, shit gets flattened and there's some slight crackling that gets kind of annoying. The way I have to solve this is to use a lower volume.

Waveform clipping, a key sign that an amplifier would prove useful.

In general, the higher the impedance, the less you ought to worry about things other than loudness.

XPT100

Why is wireless frowned upon?

Many thanks

>XPT100
do those fit entirely around your ears or on top of them? i get terrible headaches if they push onto my ears all the time.

It's not.

There are several really great BT headphones:
head-fi.org/t/746519/huge-comparison-of-almost-all-the-best-bluetooth-headphones-post-your-own-comparisons-here#

You can get great ones for ~120€ (Supertooth Freedom - even with wired/passive mode).

>inb4 complaints about head-fi

can you give me some examples of objective opinions and explain how they differ from subjective opinions?

XPT100 are over ears not on ears.

>objective opinions
Don't you mean "objective measurements?"

perfect, just ordered a pair, thanks.

i meant what i said

So you aren't new you are sincerely asking for something impossible like a retard? Glad that was cleared up.

>Glad that was cleared up.

What is your point? That you are asking for something as valid as unicorns? That you are confused what subjectivism versus objectivism means in personal audio?

you have to figure it out yourself. i can't help you.

>I'll claim that you missed the point so I can at least make myself feel like less of an idiot
You cannot explain this alleged "missed point" because, just like objective opinions and unicorns, it doesn't exist.

Anyone else get the K7XX while they were on sale? i am very excited to get them in the mail seeing as they are my first "audiophile" headphones other than the dusty old m50's i got half a decade ago.

Yeah, DT770 is probably your best bet.
Nope, they are pretty Mid-bass heavy, but you can fix that with an EQ and that's assuming you don't want bassy in the first place.
Otherwise it's a a great option, built like a tank (literal military grade), detachable cables, carrying case, you can even custom shields for it if you want a more unique look.

AKG K7XX series headphones work out to be 93 dB/mW which is quite inefficient. They do need a good amplifier to drive them, they might get loud enough (barely) through motherboard audio but do yourself a favour and get proper amplification. Even nwavguy has stated this in his blogs about these headphones being hard to drive...

Monoprice 8323. Enjoyed them, but plastic construction started breaking apart after almost 2 years of use.

I'm mainly looking for durability above all else, but it'd be nice if it's a pair that can take advantage of the HTC 10's built in DAC.

Whats the best amp I can get under 40 bucks?

Cmoy mint tin amp.

massdrop has a deal on the SMSL IDOL and the XDuoo XQ-10 right now. both under 40

MSR7 or hp50

Based next day delivery.
This better work with my e10k now or imma find you and kick your ass whoever said it would.

Seems like my mobo even has an AMP onboard, 2.5x and 6.0x amplification, whatever tha means.

"6x mode is ideal for high impedance speakers and headphones" - guess that will do it

MSR7, HD 598 or AD900X for an upgrade from M50x's?

>The best for gaming

Is open headphones an option at all? Then I'd say the Sennheiser HD558

I have the MSR7, not very comfy set.
After an hour or so the outer edge of my earlobes start to hurt a bit because they barely touch a rough part of the driver.

Sounds pretty good though, I only use it for commute.

Try to bend the headband a bit. Mine becomes more bearable after i did that

Heads up the OP amps are propriatary and shit to boot.

I'm planning to buy HiFiMan RE-400. Are they good? My computer and phone doesnt have 5 mm jack holes, would adapter cause loss in quality?
t. tech illiterate

...

>Are they good?
Depends on what you consider good. They measure well and I myself enjoy them a lot. Only problem I have had is the shoddy Hifiman build quality.
>My computer and phone doesnt have 5 mm jack holes, would adapter cause loss in quality?
>5mm
What? If you mean 3.5mm, then everything has that.

I want an Edition S anime girl.

...

I was checking that comprehensive iem review and saw that it was far better in sound quality than its rivals of the same price. I am now checking other reviews of it to be sure.
>They measure well and I myself enjoy them a lot.
what music genre do you enjoy?
>5mm
i misunderstood some stuff.

So I just got these from ebay, and damn are they fucking good. I was blown away by the CAL when I got them a few weeks back, not just because of the sound but because of the value. These are even better. In fact it's fair to say they're just a great overall headphone and beat the CAL in every way unless you really love that bassy, warm fostex sound. The going is twice as much as the CAL at $100 but you can find them for much cheaper on ebay, ~$60. It comes with a really nice hard case and 2 cables with a little net for them inside. This headphone is still warm like the CAL, just much less so, reminds me of the hp50. They're incredibly even from the sub bass through the mids, and it's the mids that shine here, though the bass is quite good as well. the highs are clear but polite. biggest problem is a pronounced dip in the highs, but if you like warm it won't bother you. This is also the fist closed portable that is "audiophile-friendly" without being obscenely priced imo.

cont:

it does everything a portable should do: It folds nicely into it's case, with enough room for cables, some IEMs, even small DAP too. Comfort is great, the beats-ripoff design is done very well, it doesn't feel cheap at all and there are even metal elements. All the padding is very soft, including the earpads. No hot spots here. Isolation is above-average as well. You may have heard Tyll praising the Zoro II HD many times. this is it's over-ear cousin, just less warm, not as rolled off in the highs.

A Hifiman anime girl is a literal chinese cartoon.

Genre is pretty irrelevant here but I listen to a wide range of things, generally things like pop, rock and classical. This is ultimately >opinions but to me they sometimes sound dull compared to more bass heavy or bright in ears. However, overall, the word I can use to explain them is "clean", everything sounds right with them whereas other in ears I tried would be good at x but bad at y.

a bit offtopic but i have the same DAP
love the quality but the UI sucks - how do you quickly get to an album without scrolling through hundreds of albums or using the folder view?
have around 2500 songs on there (EPs, Singles and Albums)

i now use the folder view with folders from A-Z where i put the albums in but if i quickly wanna browse there it´s a pita

There is a mod you can do that doesn't seem to be documented well. Under the pads is a thin foam disk, and then some fabric pad stickers over 2 vents (per driver). Remove those and the clarity of the upper mids and highs increases noticeably. It doesn't get brighter, just sounds less closed and congested, it gives more of that detail you expect from an expensive headphone. Getting the pads on and off is a real bitch though, you basically have to get the lip into a tiny groove that you kind of have to hold open with your nail or use it to shove the lip in. They still sound good without the mod, the highs are just more muted.

I think I have found my perfect portable (though they are gaudy). They do so much right that other portables fail at. I was using an ue6000 for portable use, and while it is great the fit can be tricky and this is just better. Even at $100 I think this is as good if not better than the m40x and xpt-100. v6 still beats it but then that's the v6.

Thank you again. Well I should've mentioned that i've been using 5$ chinese headphones for roughly a year
since my gaming headset broke.
So I doubt I could see those nuances.
btw which oem headphone are you using?

HD600 and M50. I also have an SE535.

>and large can't hear anything around me.
most IEMs do that. if you can't hear your surroundings but you can hear the music well that means you have a good seal which is what you want. if it's comfortable then you're fine. if you want IEMs that don't isolate that much try shallow-fit and avoid foam. the piston 3 sounds like an open headphone IEM, very little isolation.

558, bass light though

th-02 with srh-840 pads

shit, but honestly you wouldn't know if you don't have listening experience. the brain naturally gets used to a sound even if the signature is bad, because you have no comparison, so it sounds fine to you.

problem is most of these just have terrible "hip" signatures, overloaded spiky v-shapes and such. there is also no mention of what bluetooth standard they use. I would use tyll's list instead.

you can find the k712 which is better for as much if you look around.

hi2050 is known to be good, but the price has been massively inflated lately.

massive bass boost into shelved everything else. if that's what you want OK but there are better bassy headphones IMO.

less bass? hd600. similar bass? X2.

there are literally a handful of headphones the e10 can't handle and no one on /hpg/ has them and you probably never will.

>soundcard or amp?
I have some HD 598's and I'm running them off my mobo that has a Realtek ALC892. Lately I've noticed that when I turn up my music loud it has distortion in the lows but I'm not sure if this is just my music (hip hop, usually just streamed off Google Play but it's noticeable off DL'd MP3s too) or my setup, any advice?

I tried stuffing the inner rims of the cups with cotton, worked reasonably well.

Ordered HM5 sheep skin leather pads for the hell of it, I am tone deaf so if I don't notice much change in the signature I'm rolling with them.

could be the headphones themselves or the amp in your mobo. if it's the headphones, there's little you can do about it. if it's your mobo, your could get an external amp.
if you share the sound files, i can give them a listen to make sure the distortion is not in the recordings.

I'm just going to assume it's the files themselves, after listening to this sinan.ussakli.net/basstest/5-100.mp3 the only "wrong" thing I hear is the drivers "fluttering" or whatever it's called.
