I "fell"for the T420 meme. Looking back, I should've gotten a x220/x230 for my needs. However I got lucky with a 1600x900 screen, and it certainly out performes any previous laptop Ive owned.

The only other ThinkPad I like is the X1 Carbon. The rest are pretty shit. This is just designed brilliantly, the trackpad area is the best and most natural feeling of any ThinkPad.

It's my second laptop next to my macbook. Due to its nice screen and decent sized HDD I use it mostly for movies/streaming.
Also use it for playing all my old favorite games.

I owned an x121e and it held up reasonably well for the price but it's nowhere near thinkpad quality. The hinge with the screen connector began to break after three and a half years and disassembly is very hard to do without little pieces of plastic breaking off here and there.

I did. It was a great idea. I bought an extra 1600x900 screen for mine because it was listed 1366 but it actually came with one. I also bought the large battery and hard drive caddy to replace the DVD drive. Great decision

I bought a W510 when I was emigrating and had to sell the old desktop I built.

I was pretty much flat broke at the time, got this one in somewhat beat up condition. Took the ssd from my desktop and it's running fine. I need to put in a 1080 screen and it has become quite unreliable on windows 10 but otherwise I can't complain.

I fell for the Thinkpad is cheap battery meme. Cheap laptop, REAL expensive offical retail 9 cell lenovo batteries. 2.5 times the cost of the (used) base unit.

Upgraded it to a core 2 duo last month and slapped an ssd running xubuntu in it. My only qualm is that it does struggle with 720p video but it's not a huge deal since the display is only 800x600. 480p is no problem. P good for a manga-reading, chinese cartoon streaming bedside station.

Yeah I think the choice is clear on who's ratio is better.

I did. I bought one for my mom and it either freezes but on a hardware level or sometimes the left click only acts as a right click making it completely unusable. Something is wrong physically with it. I've never experience anything like that in my life. Definitely not the corollas of laptops.

I've had Dells, Lenovos and this is my firs HP, so far the impressions are good.
The keyboard is not as bad as I'd expected and the trackpad is stellar, which is great since the trackpoint is disappointing.

Me, bought a T61, it was overpriced but i asked on here and everyone said it was a good deal.
Worst fucking computer ive had, this piece would run hot as hell, it was barely able to play 720P video at low bitrate, it was bulky as hell which kills the whole purpose of owning a laptop and it ended up dying 1 year after i bought it.
If you wanna buy a computer... do yourself a favor and DO NOT GET A THINKPAD!!!!

I bought a t420 about 3 weeks ago. I used it for about a week and I noticed the temps were about 90 degrees c while watching youtube. It started to shutoff randomly. So I sent it back and bought a t510. Large performance difference but I don't care. The t510 was cheap as dirt. I fell for the meme, but love it all the same.

I use it for work. Before I was hired, I was given a choice between a macbook and a thinkpad. I chose the latter even though most people at my workplace use macbooks.
