Enough to France tell them to fuck off

Yeah but French people are all degenerate fuckwits

It's really not very different from 7 to me. I spent some hours setting it up but now I'm not missing anything from 7.

Pros:
>DX12
>Ease of use
>other windows pros

Cons:
>keylogger
>spying
>Metro
>Cortana

you forgot to mention ads and forced updates

Does DX12 have any use outside of vidya?

Haven't had any ads yet. Example?

pcworld.com/article/2975790/windows/how-to-stop-windows-10s-annoying-microsoft-office-ads.html

zdnet.com/article/how-to-disable-windows-10-start-menu-ads/

microsoft already called windows 10 a 'platform for commercial partners', so more ads will follow

Don't keep anything important on your desktop. No folders, no files, no pictures, no documents. Lost some progress on a couple schedules because i had them in a folder on the desktop and they got deleted when i upgraded from 7 to 10.

I don't use the stock start menu. I use classic shell. And I deleted the Get Office bloatware.

it doesn't even have use in vidya right now

Check windows.old

Not even in vidya

First thing i did. Those files are gone or in one of the folders i can't access, even with admin access.

Dolphin 5.0 uses directx12 if you're into emulation. Directx 12 has better performance than direct x 11 in dolphin.

It kinda does, if you consider emulators as vidya

Strange. The only thing I can think of is a bug. I don't use desktop shortcuts. I have a folder in Documents called Shortcuts and I have a toolbar on my taskbar for them.

windows 10 has adverts on the lock screen. and the start menu. and in solitaire. seriously, how does a fucking OS have adverts?

Anyone know nything about hacking

ah, yes. I forgot about emulators

Or tor??

Tor is useless on windows. Download tails.

I leave all my privacy settings on to be honest. I am too lazy to change them.

Every time you do a google search, check your emails, use facebook, ect, you are being data mined out the asshole and they are taking your information.

Better just to live and enjoy life and worry about things that will actually effect you.

Thanks for the advice will def check out tails

Do you know of a good proxy aswell??

Tor is fine on 7, not so much on 8 and 10.

an up to date 7 has the same surveillance as 10
French officials in charge of the relations with ms are not tech competent, they just want to show people they act to protect them from evil muricans (which is a lie)

>pros :
more secured against direct attacks or malwares
will have support for many years
more future proof in term of what you want to do with it
dx12
edge is fast, like really fast, you might not want it yet as your primary browser but for some quick search it's god damn fast
as soon as you have arranged the tiles of the start menu like you want, it's very usefull (like was the start screen in 8.1)
is lighter and smoother for 80% machines
...

>cons :
even less customizable (maybe it will change in the near futur)
less hackable
some people seem to experience adds, i don't

>an up to date 7 has the same surveillance as 10
no, it doesn't

>more secured against direct attacks or malwares
wrong, it's the same

>will have support for many years
>more future proof in term of what you want to do with it
marketing

>dx12
ok

>edge is fast, like really fast, you might not want it yet as your primary browser but for some quick search it's god damn fast
no, it's not, it's shit

>as soon as you have arranged the tiles of the start menu like you want, it's very usefull (like was the start screen in 8.1)
>tiles
>desktop
pick one

>is lighter and smoother for 80% machines
no, not really, explorer in of itself is heavier on 10.

>even less customizable (maybe it will change in the near futur)
food luck with that one

>hackable
are you 12?

>some people seem to experience adds, i don't
yes, you are 12..

hacking does not just mean install it for free but make something with it it was not meant to be
>only oldfags do that, no funny hack since win98se

okkid

>food luck

how to spot a fat fuck

pros
>nicer window theme
>actually good task manager
>usable cli for the first time in windows history
>DX12 I guess

cons
>have to turn off the botnet
>have to install your own start menu

The whole surveillance thing is really blown out of proportion. The OS is supposed to make money through ad revenue, which is why it collects so much shit by default. Yeah it's bullshit, but you really can just turn it all off in the settings.

It isn't any more likely that W10 is secretly sending all your info to the NSA than W7 is doing the same.

I wouldn't do the upgrade thing btw. Just install from an RTM disc and activate with KMSpico.

Pro: No more annoying reminders to update

>The whole surveillance thing is really blown out of proportion
lol

just dual boot

you wouldn't get those if you bothered to read what each update does instead of letting windows auto update

I just finished upgrading my whole company, biggest chance I noticed is a considerably performance gain on older hardware. It's not something I can really benchmark, but just clicking around, opening and closing applications, all feels snappy. We have some pretty ancient optiplex desktops /w 3GB of RAM running later model Core 2 Duos and they fly on 10.

put it this way

pros updating
cons surveillance

yes it's that bad

so be good

I have a core2 with 8 gb or ram.

First release of win10 was blazing fast.

Final version of win10, slower than a narcoleptic snail.

Reverted back to win7 and the whole install went bunkers and had to wipe all.

>Keylogger
Can easily be disabled
>Spying
Can easily be disabled
>Metro
Looks good so what's the problem
>Cortana
Can easily be disabled

I honestly don't understand why people keep using these as valid complaints

it's windows, a retard can click as long as he succeeds, in file/folder properties go to security tab and change owner to you (admin), then you will have access

I'm on an optiplex gx620 with 4 gb and a Pentium D 945 and it is blazing on 10 too. It's considerably slow on Linux though.

>see this buttplug? i can always take it out if i wanted to
>tis just a little blood

how can one spend so much time with point by point argumentation while not using a single logic argument
>ok
>it's shit
>marketing
I know microsoft killed your family and raped you as a kid, but you should try more, this is just plain shitposting

windows 10 is a fucking meme OS, TWO CONTROL PANELS, retarded start menu, ads from microsoft and the list goes on.

stay on windows 7 at least until 2020.

What kind of arguments do you want me to bring to someone who claims that 10 is safer than previous versions of Windows? Sure, you could make this argument against XP x86, but against Vista x64 or newer? Not really.

>TWO CONTROL PANELS
Win + R > Control

>retarded start menu
Use classic shell

>ads from microsoft
Use classic shell and delete 'Get Office'

Literally easy fixes

Pros: You'll never be alone again.

Cons: Driver issues.

>Win + R
Whenever I hear or see someone using or recommending this I assume they are parjeets. If I see them, ususally it confirms my assumption.

it's better than windows 7. not even lying.

the same 'surveillance' was installed in 7 with patches, so you're just as screwed. may as well upgrade now while it's free.

what's a decent program for mounting disc images that isn't full of bloatware and PAY ME ads?

>the same 'surveillance' was installed in 7 with patches
no, it was not, raj

7zip

mounting the image, not extracting the content

well, it seems you let windows to auto update. in that case win10 and all the tracking is the OS for you

Will it run on an Asus Eee R101?
If not I might just go back to XP.

it'll run like shit

then again, so will xp

cons: you have to pay for windows 10 when you inevitable upgrade

pros: everything

get the fuck off the internet if you're worried about the surveillance and telemetry shit. google and countless other companies have been doing that for years. there is literally no reason to not upgrade.

for what purpose? why would you keep unnecessary bloatware running in background? i don't think you mount images on a daily basis. anyway, try virtual clone drive. last time i tried it it was quite lightweight and also does not let any leftovers if you decide to uninstall it. also free without even "free offers" during install.

>inevitable upgrade
no such thing

>pros: everything
could you be more obvious, raj?

How long till people have made a good, mostly debloated/debotnetted cracked version?

Will it break my rainmeter and shit when I upgrade? I just got it looking how I like.

I dualboot Arch and Windows 8.1. I had just Windows 10 until today but the hardware acceleration is broken for my CPU/GPU so I said fuck it. The hardware acceleration works in Windows 8.1 and I use mostly Arch. What I don't like is that, since I started using Windows again, my HDD has more bad sectors, like 100 more since I installed Windows 10 until now. Fuck NTFS and the fragmentation.

If you're concerned about privacy, why not use tor?

If you log in somewhere with it, I think it's worse than not using it.

Yes

How?

no longer user. the fire rises

If you're not looking up child porn, buying drugs, illegal firearms, or communicating with fucking ISIS than the surveillance shouldn't bother you too much.

Not saying that I support Microsofts sneaky fucking tactics, but most of the surveillance policies can be turned off manually by using a few guides found on Google.

Yeah, totally nothing to fear.

It's not like it's been force upon people, there's no way to fully turn off and even with hack tools and blockers it still has to find a way to send your data somewhere.

No sirree, nothing suspicious here.

top cuck

>the bad
>is literally
>what makes
>W10 different from W7

>I honestly don't understand why people keep using these as valid complaints

They're invalid complaints but not for your dumbass reasons.

The truth is here:
>Keylogger
So does win7
>spying
So does win7
>Metro
this is a win8.1 feature
>cortana
only applies to online-accounts, use local like a non-dumbass

Or, you know, doing anything at all that Microsoft and the companies that buy your information from them that can profile you and significantly impact your life.

>can be turned off manually
Nope. You can only turn off a few things temporarily before an update turns them back on.
>HURR NO UPDATES THEN
Not updating a Windows computer? You might as well use IE on Windows ME with no firewall and no virus protection because you will be fucked without Microsoft updating itself to protect from the fucking vulnerabilities it gets all the time in things like, you know, IMAGES (crafted images have been able to run code automatically on windows computers in the past via using vulnerabilities in WIndows' image rendering code).

Let's face it, if you're on Sup Forums and still using Windows in 2016, you're a moron.

>Let's face it, if you're on Sup Forums and still using Windows in 2016, you're a moron.

someone deserves a wedgie

>>Keylogger
>So does win7
>>spying
>So does win7
Listen, dipshit. In 7 you have to need to manually agree to and join the fucking "experience improvement"-shit before they start spying on you. That's the difference here.

they get rid of some code that has compatibility with programs to make everything faster along with a lighter theme. games on steam recommend w10 and hardware specially made for it. I don't believe in the spying stuff but everything about w10 is shady to me. if you really know how to use windows 7 you can run everything you'd like on it just as fast as 10

Pros:
- Faster start
- Faster search
- Better task manager
- DX12
- Looks nicer
- You can make Cortana talk to you like a real girl

Cons:
- Watches everything you do and reports back to Microsoft
- Ads

Pros:
1. Some minor new features, like native iso mounting
2. DX12 might become relevant some day

Cons:
1. Slower
2. Aero/DWM can't be disabled
3. Bloated with useless shit like OneDrive/Cortana that is hard to remove
4. Ads
5. Telemetry can't be disabled
6. Shit UI with settings scattered everywhere

Windows 7 is proprietary. You can't see the code. You have no proof it's not spying on you even if you don't agree the experience improvement program.
Also, it spies on you if you do the updates because Microsoft made an update with telemetry a few months ago.

>You have no proof it's not spying
That can be said for pretty much anything. You can't inspect every piece of code yourself, so you have to trust other people to not do bad stuff.

But with Windows 10, you know 100% that it's spying, because MS admits it and explains it.

>Microsoft made an update with telemetry a few months ago
1. don't have to install that
2. even if you install that, it only works if CEIP is enabled

Try again, Pajeet.

do people seriously still believe in the botnet meme?

OP: the con is that you have to reinstall everything, the pros are that you are up to date

>3. Bloated with useless shit like OneDrive/Cortana that is hard to remove
>hard to remove
>literally 2 clicks

What proves you the updates will not spy on you if CEIP is disabled?

>Pajeet
kek i'm not the one shilling of Microsoft, you're the pajeet here my friend

>2 clicks
To disable OneDrive from running you need to use Group Policy.
And even after that, it still leaves the OneDrive entry in Start.

The only way to remove some of the apps is with a PowerShell script.

So no, not just 2 clicks at all.

>start dws
>select all options
>click remove

>start dws
>15 clicks
:-DDDDDDDDD

yes but each click is for 1 program. that would be 2 clicks for onedrive, 2 clicks for cortana and so on.

also youre an autist

What proves that your GNU+Linux isn't spying on you all the time? Exactly, nothing. You just trust some people.

Just like Windows 7 users trust some people. Who by the way are accountable and MS could get sued to death if they were found to add hidden spyware.

Can you even sue random (anonymous) open source contributors?

Look buddy, I don't mind open source, but saying Windows 7 and Windows 10 are the same in terms of spying is wrong.

>install malware to maybe get rid of malware

Or... maybe I could simply not install malware in the first place?? Hmmmmmm.

>install malware to maybe get rid of malware
>all linux fags on Sup Forums happy to celebrate their open source software
>call everything that is closed source a botnet
>now calls DWS out to be malware despite it being open source
>dem double triple quadrupple standards
try again autist

>Start DWS
>No DWS there
>Download and install DWS
>10 more clicks
:-DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

sorry at this point i cant even make out what you are saying anymore. go home autist

Ten rupees have been deposited into your Microsoft account poojeet.

Maybe GNU/Linux is spying on me. But I trust the people that says their system is not spying on me and they have nothing to hide in their code.

I don't trust Microsoft and their OS, whether it's Windows 7 or Windows 10. Even if Windows 7 spies less on me.

I never said Windows 7 and Windows 10 had the same spying. Of course Windows 10 is worse. But it's hard to trust Windows 7 now.

thanks a new word to filter

But I'm at home already, rakesh
