I work with boroscilicate glass. Started off as a pipe maker, recently just been making pendants during the summer because it is so damned hot. You can get materials online like at mountainglass.com or lampworksupply.com. Its fun stuff! Challenging and rewarding.

How do they make the swirls and stuff? Are those stickers, or is it different types of chemicals in the glass?

They have some original ideas too. Not very original any more, but at the time it was pretty ground breaking production work.


Their heady work is still impressive, they have very good artist and collab with very talented artists who are pushing the boundaries with what glass can do. All of this increases the price.

Also they're extremely well made. You get what you pay for.


Swirls can be either fume work, colored glass, dichorotic glass, etc. They are not stickers, some labels like sovereignty logo is a bake on logo which can come off eventually. I prefer a sandblasted logo because it is permanent.

Some glass work that takes hours to do for even a small section. Like the photo you posted, Im not sure what it is of, but the top marble is made up of brown and green colored glass stringers laid in a pattern to make the tree. Those flowers, butterflies and skulls are millie/cane work, each one of those can take many hours to do a single design (but you get several chips per session), and there is plenty of fuming colors on it as well like amber purple or something in the tube that gives all the colors and cool dot effects.

I really need to get to work. Fun chatting about glass for once on Sup Forums. Hopefully this thread is still up in a bit.
