Is there a laptop on the market that can be used as a 100% functional hackintosh? I'm stuck with OS X for work but am loathe to buy another apple laptop.

I'm guessing no then?

I've got OS X running fine on my x230, pretty /comfy/ if you ask me.

Any laptop will do. Just install it in VMWare Workstation, there's barely any CPU overhead. Graphics is pretty slow unfortunately, although UI transitions isn't too different from a real Mac with similar specs.

Does the wifi work? How is audio?

Audio is fine, wifi was annoying to setup cause of drivers so I used a small USB wifi adapter.

Got it running on an Elitebook 2560p. Works fine, however needs a WiFi card swap or a USB card as it comes with an Intel card as stock.

Installation was pretty easy, using the ProBook Installer package.

Thanks guys, I expected the wi-fi issues. Don't suppose either of you run Logic X on your hackintoshes do you?

just run an OS X VM on a different Host OS.

>i have to use right tools for right job, but my ex-neet honor does not allow me to use right tool
oh well

It's not about honour, I've owned macs for for five of the last six computers I've bought. I just don't want to drop two grand on a machine that I feel hasn't progressed much in the last couple of years.

If you need it for work why do you have to hack it into a personal computer? Why isn't your job pro doing you with a Mac to use?

Depends on the job, once I saw a frontend job ad that had Mac Book Pro as requisite.

I'm freelance in the music industry, it's up to me to buy my own computers. I really only need os x for clients who use logic pro x or stage solutions that use apple's native network MIDI, unfortunately there's a lot of them.

I think a VM is the best way to go id those two things are rock solid.

Running OSX on non-Apple hardware is a violation of OSX EULA thus pretty much the same thing as running Windows without a valid license key.

Personally I'd be weary of running an OS without license for work purposes or hiring people who clearly run their work computer without a valid OS license.

macbook pro

lenovo z400 here, swapped the wifi. works very well for my DJing / music production job.

Is this a T420? Is it worth it? I can get one to hackintosh it.

Oh, nevermind, just saw the x220 now. But still, is the T420 worth it?

This is bullshit, you don't need a mac for work. You can do the same shit on Windows and Linux.

You're dumb.
