GTX 950!!!
GTX 950!!!
total shit, RX460 is going to be way better
>4k Main10 HEVC decoding
Until Kaby Lake arrives this is the best and really only option.
>current card died
>only play csgo and wot/wt
>got $250 for a new card but shipping is $100 from amazon
GTX 950 is my best option for $150, right?
What's your PSU?
Unless you need 4K over HDMI, there are better cards for the same money.
>$250 for gtx 950
We're not getting fucked over this much even in yurop
It gets better though, $250 is the "I'll order it from outside so it's cheaper than local prices" option.
OP, I'd shop around for a used GPU if I were in that situation.
I recall visiting Trinidad and seeing extortionate prices like the one you quoted. It's unfortunate.
I don't mind used but it's not an option when used 750tis are going for approx $200 because of the inflated prices. I'm just wondering if the 950 would be the best option for $150.
It's not a big deal when buying from China because they skip the shipping and customs fees so you end up getting ssds for like $40, but for shit like GPUs yeah it's a pain.
>just wondering if the 950 would be the best option for $150.
If a $150 950 is the cheapest option you can get after being sure that you've thoroughly checked around then go for it. It's not a horrible GPU.
youtube.com
It's a pretty capable 1080p GPU
>100$ shipping
Are you shipping from across the world amazon or something?
Where the fuck do you live?
I'm concerned about if that's the best i can get, maybe AMD has a marginally better card around that price? as i said I'm buying a gpu only because my 7850 died so basically it's a replacement instead of an upgrade but even a small upgrade would be nice, my budget is $150 for the card which i know it's pretty shit already but still.
From USA. DHL shipping + Customs fees end up around $100.
not a good brand but free worldwide shipping
gearbest.com
GTX 950 $190
gearbest.com
It's the reference design and free shipping.
A shithole of which i hate everything about it but the food.
Well that looks cheaper but i'm somewhat skeptical about buying gpus from China. Will bookmark them if i can't find anything better though, Thanks.
CUTE
Gearbest has a sound warranty if anything goes wrong. Also, the GTX 950 is the reference design, so it should be okay.
>From USA. DHL shipping + Customs fees end up around $100.
Oh, I'm guessing south america so you're getting fucked by fees and currency
I don't know how desperate you are for getting a GPU but I woudn't buy it or an SSD from China, unless I'm sure they're not fake and are cheap
>create email
>register to amazon
>try amazon prime
>buy graphics card
>free shipping
>card arrives
user, if he's getting 100$ shipping he's clearly not form USA or other country that has a local Amazon
The card is quite good for what it is.
I have managed to play GTA 5, with some medium-high settings in the FPS range from 40-60.
For CounterStrikeGo/Source games it is more than enough.
(And ofc the CPU in pic is powerfull.)

You can get gtx960 free shipping for 250 dollars.
>Pascal, in turn, inherits GM206’s video decode block and makes some upgrades of its own. Relative to GM206, Pascal's decode block (Feature Set H) adds support for HEVC Main12 profile (12bit color) while also extending the maximum video resolution from 4K to 8K. This sets the stage for the current "endgame" scenario of full Rec. 2020 compatibility, which calls for wider still HDR courtesy of 12bit color, and of course 8K displays. Compared to GM204 and GM200 then, this gives Pascal a significant leg up in video decode capabilities and overall performance.
GTX 1050, HEVC Main12 & 8K hardware decoding
AYYMD, not relevant ever
He literally said he was from the US
I don't think amazon even does countries across the atlantic.
He said FROM usa, but he's clearly from another country to get that much shipping cost.
Amazon does ship to a lot of places as long as you pay the high costs that comes with it
how long do you think the 950 would last?
What's the best budget 4kvcapable card? Note that I basically only want to stream films and play 10+ year old games.
Wait for the GTX 1050 for upgraded hardware decoders & DP1.4 support
GTX 1060 has GTX 980-ish performance, 1050 should be around GTX 970-ish performance
I was more aimed toward older budget cards, even used. In the much lower price range.
Since I also have a 980GTX in another computer; I expect the 950 to live and play these older games.
I tried the new HITMAN™ on the 950, and it can't run the game at above 30 FPS, even at 1280x720.
So I see only a future for it, in low demanding games. Where the newer titles with "impressive" graphics most likely will not run great on it.
But I have played CSgo, TF2 & WarThunder with it, and that went very well.
>™
You ok there, bud?
I mean why not?
This card needed 3GB or even 4
RX460 supports this too.
total warhammer did the same thing™
I have a GTX 950 and love it a lot.
If you're content with playing the newest games at 1080p on medium settings. it works fine.
What's the best graphic card for playing games like TF2, Fistful of Frags and Chivalry Medieval Warfare on a 1920x1080 screen at more than 100 fps?
Chivalry "feels" like the most demanding of those games.
But as far as I know it is running on Unreal Engine, which is supposed to be super CPU oriented.
More than 100 FPS is a tough goal. Since some maps in TF2 can cause framedrops.
The 950 should be able to do TF2 at 60, and maybe 100. But I'm not sure about Chivalry.
Pajeet!
Amazon prime offers free shipping
Not strictly connects to the topic, but im planning to buy GTX 960 Strix 4Gb. Is it a good card? Worth it? Planning to build a pc, not a high end one and this card seemed a good choice according to my budget
>FREE Two-Day Shipping on eligible items to addresses in the contiguous U.S.
>OP has to pay custom fees for items from the US
Its not a huge leap to think that maybe he isnt from the US and prime shipping doesnt help at all
I got a 5 months used gtx 970 for 150. All these nerds selling their cards dirt cheap to buy the 1000 range models
thats dumb, I will be selling my 970 for $250 + two graphics cards (I need one so, this saves me the money of buying one)
I'm going to wait until some open box deal for a 1070 or 1080 and get that
250 for a gtx 970 is almost market price. Niggas aint gon buy notthin from you.
I got miene from some shady Russian dude, so it was prolly stolen. Used gtx 970 are flooding in rite naw
No, don't post lies if you don't know shit
AYYMD does not support Main12 or 8K hardware decoding
Yeah, both TF2 and Chivalry are CPU heavy. I mean, running those games at more than 100 fps is a dream, I'm just looking at a good rig that can run those game at more than 60 fps for a good amoujt of time . I'm planning to use a fps config anyways and set everything on low. Since I'm a bit scared by building a pc myself, I checked some pre-built towers around and this Acer got my attention: unieuro.it
Would it be enough? It's got a 4 Gb RAM, but I'm going to add 4 Gb more anyways.
Please respond
This place is not a good place to ask for prebuilds.
See the sticky for link to the wiki on how to build your own PC.
Almost anything new can run TF2 these days, so what you want to look out for is not limiting yourself for future interests in modifying your computer.
>250 for a gtx 970 is almost market price.
its Canadian currency and the deal has already been arranged.
I will be getting two gtx 660s in the deal too
I love my 950 for my current budget build. I only play WoW and Overwatch so it performs where I need it to. When I say budget I mean a g3258 overclocked, and I still get 60 frames but not on Overwatch. Will be upgrading to 4790k masterrace and 1060.
gtx 960 has decent shader performance but its sub par memory bandwidth makes 4gb an iffy thing to go with.
I use mine for 4-5 year old games. Lord knows there are enough good ones to keep me occupied for years.
Please don't upgrade to an old platform.
The 4790k is on the way out. If you are in no hassle, wait for Kaby Lake.
>old platform
Q6600 here, no issues so far.
Also, anyone knows how far you can OC the 950? I have my gigabyte 950 Overclocked to 1222 Mhz core and 2000 Mhz memory, but I couldn't overclock the core any farther without artifacts. Silicon lottery is real.
The 960GTX 4GB is a fine card.
It does what you can expect of a middle marked card.
Again I have also tried HITMAN™ on that, and compared to the 950, the game runs smoothly. (1080p, but not max settings).
Overwatch is good on it. And the same for high settings GTA 5 without Anti-Alias.
A cheap card that does very good.
I have several systems on the old Core 2 Quads, and they are still very good.
But for buying new, I can't recommend that you are not getting the newest product released; since the price difference is so little.
R9 380 costs about the same and it kicks it's ass
>Kaby Lake
>not cannonlake
thank for the feedback to the 960, im gonna go for it then
