yet another win10 thread. hopefully this will be a little different. I know it's shit, privacy and all, but I'm genuinely interested in your reasons as to why all the privacy issues are a concern, assuming you have nothing to hide.
So, as long as you have nothing to hide, what's the problem with being "spied" on by Windows10? I don't think it's realistically going to affect you at the personal level, that is, again, as long as you have nothing to hide.
Don't get me wrong, I still wouldn't do it myself, just wondering what everyone's reasons are. I guess this has to reach beyond the personal level and into ideals and greater societal concerns.
tl;dr: whats your (personal) problem with win10's spying bs as long as you have nothing to hide
I get it, but what is it going to change, at the practical level? It is my understanding that you can use it normally and never have to worry about being spied on because as long as you've got nothing to hide, nothing is physically going to happen in your life because of it. It's why I'm kind of thinking about giving in.
Aaron Kelly
It's a human thing. You wouldn't understand.
Nathan Adams
I don't want to get jailed when my country bans loli doujins and homophobic insults.
Blake Hughes
>I know it's shit, privacy and all
here is your answer. as well as your (you)

Thuis.
Tyler Russell
>if you only say things people like to hear, what's wrong with censorship?
kill yourself op, privacy is a human right
William Nelson
>you have nothing to hide
Everybody has something to hide
Adam Sanchez
So is it spying on my files and my information or are they just uploading stats on how I use windows?
And give me fucking proof instead of doomsday scenarios
Easton Hall
I'll never know since this free windows 10 upgrade keeps giving me a modern setup host failed error. Even online tech couldn't help me.
Also, my pc isnt shit so its not that ):

Doesn't Spybot Anti-beacon stop all the file sharing?
Jaxon Morris
It's all tinfoil hat nonsense.
Jeremiah Campbell
No?
Elijah Perez
>give me a proof on how proprietary operating system works!!! No on fucking knows how windows works you dumb fuck. Including people who believe they do. And that's the problem, coupled with eulas that imply that microsoft can buttfuck you anytime they want. If entire country governments call out microsoft on their shit then something is wrong with it I would guess.
Adam Jenkins
Yeah it does?
Tyler Parker
Does it?
Nathan Taylor
I would think so?

Why do people think not upgrading to win10 makes them safe? Microsoft already changed the privacy agreements for 7 and 8.
Sebastian Thompson
>Microsoft already changed the privacy agreements for 7 and 8. Difference is that you were never informed or asked for your permission when those things were updated and installed. Enabling telemetry without user permission in this matter would be a huge legal shitstorm.
Benjamin Garcia
I'm fine with paying a one time fee to use an OS. I'm not fine to use a "free" OS and Microsoft selling my data as a business model.
Additionally it's the same reason why you don't post your real name, address, phone number and credit card number here.
Owen Edwards
I don't really card about the spying thing.
I just don't want a monthly revolving door of about a hundred different IP's and domains sending incoming connections to my computer for no reason at all necessary to me.
So I'm sticking with 7 for the next 3 and a half years. I did the upgrade and have my license already anyway just in case but no, that shit is cancer srsly.
Disappointed in this board for not arriving at what should be the easiest and most well rehearsed response in link related.
Believe it or not, lots of people in the world haven't even begun to think about things that are major concerns and issues for some of you. Responding like a shithead does help cultivate your ideals socially.
Hope you didn't abandon thread OP.
Christian Ward
But he's wrong. There is nothing wrong with having something to say or write, while there is plenty wrong with having something to hide. My conclusion is only people who need to hide something fear this :)

Here's a (you)
Wyatt Russell
Partly this
Also the constant connection of data stealing actually manages to shit up my WiFi connection giving me lag
But I don't use Windows 10 because it's slow broken buggy garbage right now. Will continue to use 7 until it's not broken
Noah Richardson
"nothing to hide" today could be "something you should have hidden" tomorrow
we dont know how the world is going to change over the next few decades, cartoon porn could become illegal and half of Sup Forums would be at risk of losing their jobs and freedom over it because the US gestapo has a database filled with the names of idiots who downloaded it while using win10
you just dont fucking know
David Ross
>as long as you have nothing to hide I want to hide the things I've torrented. I don't want to get sold out by my own OS
Ethan Thomas
YES THIS
Evan Evans
I pay hot women to shit on cam for me. Nothing illegal, hell my wife doesn't mind..but do I really want my coworkers and all to know my private life?
Wyatt Lewis
Just because I am not carrying illegal fierarms or drugs, I don't want to roam naked

I have two linux laptops, a win7 desktop, an xp laptop, and and older desktop that needs an OS, so I let my other win7 laptop "upgrade" to 10.
I only let it connect to the internet when I visit my parents home. I have removed much of the bullshit clutter that it installed, but there are many things that can't be removed. There are several things that can be uninstalled, but trying to does nothing at all, and no feedback that it even tried. In fact, there are many little things that windows used to do diligently, but now have been forgotten about. I'm talking about basic UI stuff that even the most sparse linux programs do.
It's also very slow. I have heard stories about how incompetent Microsoft development is and I believe them now.
The most I can hope for is Microsoft crashing their reputation and business to serve as a warning to all on how not to do things.
Jacob Barnes
there is this software from a german group which should make sure that windows can't spy on you it's called "xp-antispy" it was first released when win xp came and never reworked until now when win 10 thought of spying even harder what do you think could this help me not getting spyed on?
