>Have AT&T Fiber for 3 years or so >Stuck at around 2MB/s since >Continually lie about data speeds >Try to cancel >Say they'll lower the price for 6 months >Laugh and say fuck them
>Decide to switch to another company (Won't say cuz you fags would call me a shill) >Cheaper than AT&T, no retarded contracts, price has stayed the same for 8 months so far >Promises 100Mb/s by the end of 2015 (lawl) >Promises 25Mb/s immediately which is cool >I say, ok. Sign on >Get consistant 6MB/s even from my server >Still no 100Mb/s but it's ok because it's still faster, and cheaper than AT&T

>Comcast want to charge 40 for 25mbps >complain and ask for better >get 75 Mbps for 38 >later gets upgraded to 100mbps for same price

>ive had Time Warner for 5 years. >last year i was paying 60 for 20mbps >call them up and see if there is any cheaper >they tell me you can upgrade to 100mbps for 60 >awwyiss i like time warner

>Live in a tenant building with parents >Parents won't spring for any kind of broadband so it's Dial-Up for me until they decide to get a building wide connection >Loads of old people so of course they go with the cheapest option, a HomePNA connection from a tiny company >Only about 125kB/s down, but at least I don't have to dial up all the time >A year in the system develops a problem where latencies get progressively worse, eventually making it's next to impossible to play any game online that isn't turn based (we're talking up to 25k ms ping) >Have to call in to get them to remotely reset the building router >Always moaning about how they don't think this is going to fix the problem when it always does >Naturally their phone number is only manned from 9 AM to 3:30 PM so nobody with a job has can get hold of them >They generally switch to voicemail at least half an hour early, around lunch on Fridays >Even when you get trough you're not guaranteed to get someone who's at the office and can actually do anything >Have called up on Friday to get someone on a callout and wouldn't do anything except say he'll look into it on Monday One of the biggest perks of moving out was non-shit internet. They kept with that garbage connection for 2 years after I moved out before the building moved to a non-shit ISP after most of the people on the building connection moved to their own connections due to how shit the house connection was.

>Live in France near Paris >No fiber in my neighborhood >I've been waiting for 3 years >They still don't know when I will get it >tfw when the whole town has it except me >tfw still 10mbps

>have Telia broadband since 2003 >speed is about 10/10 >good enough for me >get call from Telia saying they would upgrade our connection speed for free >why the hell not >speed is now about 20/1 >call them to complain about crappy upload speed >tell them to change it back >"that is not possible" >"we will check your connection for any problems this week, sir" >receive letter from Telia a few days later >"there is nothing wrong with your connection" I still call them once every year to complain about it.

At least it's kinda cheap.

>getting pic related speeds >no more than two people can use the internet at the same time >can't even watch 720p videos without preloading >literally the only other option was TWC >switch >promised 50/5 >actually get 60/6
TWC is pretty based so far.

Your problem was boomers being tech illiterate.

You like them because they sat on their asses giving you a bad deal until you called them to correct it instead of them just upgrading you like they should've?
Jace Morris
moved 5 minutes out of the urban area, figured the net would be meh compared to 175Mb I had before, but livable.
>no cable >no DSL (not even an option)
After months of calling around and limping on Verizon 4G >40Mb, not bad >$10/GB are you fucking kidding me!?
phone provider willing to run "direct fiber" >$12,000 install fee >$300/month for >3Mb/s

>live in connecticut >getting 100/30 from optimum >huge storm, lots of downed wires >they send a tech out to replace the line >he lays down fiber and puts coax converters on the poles >give him 100 bucks and a pizza >he drops fiber direct to my house and changes my service tier for free and tells me to buy an alcatel lucent modem and give me his cell number >hook it up, he gives me all the authorization codes to use with optimum support >get 900ish/400 now >get my bill >Optimum Lightpath Level 3 Service Tier ($649.99) >Bill Credit (-$600.00) >50 bucks a month for fiber and its been working for almost a year and a half now with the bill credit every month >mfw

>Be a 3rd world shithole >1 ISP monopoly thing. >Surprisingly not shit and invests a lot. >Improves incredibly over the last 10 years or so >95% of the 'urban areas' have FTTH >Decent Service >50 USD for 120 Mbps
Ain't even mad
William Torres
So literally all I have to do is call Comcast and complain and they'll upgrade my service? I was paying like $20 for like 5mbps just because it was the cheapest one, and after a year they raised it to like $40. Fuck that.
Jeremiah Cook
That or tell them you're gonna cancel or something. Or ask for a service reduction. They were jewing my mom pretty hard and she got like $40 off because she called. Still, fuck Charter.
Oh yeah, they fucked you because that is what they do. You probably don't remember, but those agreements ALWAYS are for the first year usually. Ours was $30 for phone/net/cable EACH. the rate increased the next year, and the year after that, so when it flatlines at the 2nd year it comes to a grand total of $140 a fucking month. Absolutely haram.

i pay about 45$

I've had 10/1 for like 5 years, shit's more stagnant than Japan's economy.

Be educated about the offers in your area. Ask them for promos. Tell them their competition is offering better service.
>Set your budget limit (~$30-$40). >Look up default comcast offerings (for ex 25mbps for 39.99) >Look up promos for comcast (50mbps for $39.99 for 2 years) >Look up competition offering (40mbps for 29.99) >Call >ask for lower price best performance offerings >rebuff them with your offer >tell them competition offers better for cheaper >ask for better pricing or promos
If it fails, rinse and repeat till you get a good representative.

>get adsl in 2005 >256kbit/s no cap >holy macaroni, that's 5 times the speed of dialup >stay with the same company >they gradually increase speeds to 512,768,1mbit, 2, 5, 6 >today: 24mbit >the price is still the same, $12/month >they ask me if i wanted 100mbit for $15/month
feels good mate, we've gone a long way together

>Have fios >worker strike >they cut my lines thrice >verizon sends out the same tech each time to fix the issue >first time line is cut at my house >middle of the night when I was fapping >second time >cut my line on the pole but leave just enough where it's hard to see >third time >puncture my line in the middle and tape over it with black tape >No apology, no credit and no waiving of cancellation fees for my trouble >just 6 more months and I'll get something cheaper >slower yes but more relaible >Do you know how many times my ont box had to be replaced these past 5 years? too many!
Andrew Brooks
At least you have fiber. I'm stuck with 16/1 for 10 years now for 35eur/month I have 16 Mbps when my ISP isn't trying to fuck with the speeds.
James Davis
Guys wtf... is that a troll thread? You guys seems not to make the diffetence between Mb/s and MB/s...
Guy in OP actually gets a faster speed than the 25Mb/s he was promessed. He's actually getting 48Mb/s (6*8)
Christian Morris

Australian politicians should be commended for this. Keeping the world safe from aussie shitposting at fiber speeds is a great deed to society. If only Trudeau can fuck up Canadas internet next. Maybe a forest fire buring the wites?

>live in Cincinnati >be with TWC >live in an area that's a 20 minute drive into the actual city, but still surrounded entirely by farmland and properties of 5+ acres >"upgraded" to 30 down 5 up a few years ago >because of my area there is literally zero chance of it getting better any time in the near future due to infrastructure reasons
Man, I don't even care too much about the download speed. I just want better upload speed. Oh well, at least there's literally fucking no one on the local node, so uptime is 24/7 and speeds are always consistent.
