1060 vs 480 pricepoints

Is the gtx 1060 really worth £240 when a 4gb rx 480 is only £200?

the 480 4gb version you mean.
Only one winner really isnt there?

The really nice thing is that here in the usa the 1060 and 480 have the exact same price to performance ratio ar around 2.6.
So here anyway it doesnt mater which one you buy. The 1060 is more powerful but costs more. Though nvidia isnt riping you off

The GTX 1060 is cheaper once you consider the money saved by lower power consumption.

He did say the 4GB 480 you idiot. Are you blind?

Ah yes, gotta remember that Lightbulb worth of energy saved by running a 1060 at full load for a year, as opposed to a 480.

Good goyim :^)

He did indeed, still a wank gpu though

10% increased performance for 20% higher price. What is more important to you?

Well we dont all live at home with mummy and daddy paying the bills.

Depends how old your cpu is fampai

i5-4670k @ 4.5GHZ

the 1060 is as low as 229. also fuck 4gb.

20% price for 7% to 15% difference in DX11 and -10% to -40% difference in DX12/Vulkan?

No.

Could be worse, I could have a pile of shit gpu like you.

The maximum power consumption of the RX 480 is 30 Watt higher than the GTX 1060.

If I have this card running every day eight hours a day at that power (assuming 8 hours sleep, 8 hours work and no travel time and 8 hours straight gaming / 3d rendering) then after one year I will have paid 24,46€(27,14 US$) more in power bills.

(assuming 28 €-cents for a kWh)

a half or a quarter of that power consumption is more likely for most people.

At 100% usage

Unlikely

The GTX 1060 needs 50W less under load.
The average NEET will spend about 5000 hours per year gaming so this gives a 250kWh/year additional energy consumption.
In total you save about £40 every single year by choosing Nvidia.

>a gpu is more important than intelligence
sure is consumerist in here

Isn't this for the manlet edition?

10/10

Well it's better than the 3gb you get with the 1060

Neither of them are worth it at current prices.

Not at all, the Rx480 has superior perfomance that is only hinged by nvidia optimization in dx9-11 games, it completely DESTROYS even the 1070 in things like Doom 4 Vulkan abd possibly future titles

3gb 1060? link me it, evga one please.

No just get the 480

Where?

480 should be fine i guess. I have an i5 2400 and the 1060 should be better suited to it because overhead

If it weren't for the 2 year warranty, fuck.

Good drivers.

I hate this "money saved" power consumption argument, it's so fucking stupid

WOW I PAID 5 MORE DOLLARS FOR ELECTRICITY BECAUSE MY GPU/CPU USED MORE ENERGY THAN THE OTHER ONE

fuckin retard

5 dollars more over the entire life of the card as well.

I thought it was per year?

yeah, I forgot to put that in there

which is why it's retarded, because in 4 years you'll most likely get a new gpu, and if you don't, then wow, you'll have paid 20 more bucks on the electricity!!!

fuck every retard who brings up the whole "THINK OF THE POWER BILLS" argument

get this one instead then. 3 year warranty and still £10 cheaper than the cheapest aftermarket 480.

This exact one a friend was going to help me acquire in America, but he wasn't awake at the time and I thought it'd be rude to just ship it to him.

In 3 hours it was out of stock from Newegg, fug.

overclockers.co.uk/zotac-geforce-gtx-1060-mini-6144mb-gddr5-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-106-zt.html

this one is in stock and has a 5 year warranty. zotac are a good budget brand too.

All I need is some reviews and I might do it. Feel sad at missing my chance for an EVGA 1060 at £200 though.

Cant the 4GB version be turned into 8GB like the reference models?

That's a very good point.
