wow Windows 10 is great

proof of the screenshots and recording keystrokes?

... and Linux can't compete.

delete this now

Nothing new, really.
People will continue to use it for convenience
The Desktop/laptop, aka x86, platform will die before the year of the Linux desktop.

>Needs rebooting to update
So your shit doesn't break
>Having 4 audio APIs, 4 graphics APIs, 5 GUI APIs, 2 executable formats, 5 menu themes, 2 included browsers, 2 included media players etc
Sup Forums wants personalization, but doesn't like choice, go figure
>Candy Crush ads in the start menu
oh no, those things I got rid of forever ago, and AU my friend
>Takes screenshots periodically and records your every keystroke
Replace every word in that sentence with botnet and it'd have just a much weight and actual meaning
>No included ethernet/wifi/graphics drivers
Now come on you're a start boy.......or maybe you're retarded because that's untrue
>No file system support except NTFS and FAT (also only one partition on flash drives)
I can personally atest this was difficult but no normie ever bothers with it and if they are, their are free open source programs that can do it
Basically, here's to (you) Nicola and Bart

That stupid youtube video doesn't count

HAHAHAHAHA, this is some shitposting, have you read the news recently regarding ads in W10?

try harder/10

>So your shit doesn't break

Not him but I have yet to see a single one of those famous ads and I used it since the first day.

>So your shit doesn't break

>So your shit doesn't break
Shit sure as hell doesn't break when you update on Linux as long as you don't have a meme distro e.g. Arch.
>Sup Forums wants personalization, but doesn't like choice, go figure
The problem here is not that there are many APIs, but rather that there are many APIs that do mostly the same thing. For example, having several graphics APIs would be great if one was suited to 2D, one to 3D, etc... D3D9, D3D11 and OpenGL all do 3D rendering, with some subtle differences. With menu themes, there should be consistency. When you personalize the menu then all menus should change.
>oh no, those things I got rid of forever ago, and AU my friend
The fact that they are there in the first place is wrong.
>Now come on you're a start boy.......or maybe you're retarded because that's untrue
I had to download Ethernet drivers on another computer before i could use the internet on my computer, but i guess that is all just untrue?
>I can personally atest this was difficult but no normie ever bothers with it and if they are, their are free open source programs that can do it
Those open source programs are shit. Show me a good ext >4< driver that doesn't corrupt inodes when you write to them.

I don't think you got the ads if you were in the beta program.
Were you?

No.

Isn't the go-to Arch meme that you constantly have to rebuild shit?

you're thinking of gentoo

>at work
>mission critical LoB application that business depends on from 2003
>still works, no modification needed on Windows with latest security updates

Meanwhile in Linux world the solution to this is to use RHEL or SuSE, never update the kernel, pay a fuckload of money and rely on Red Hat/SuSE to backport security fixes.

Arch is the one that breaks shit and removes configurations when you run updates.

>implying

that crop shits in google and iqdb, by chance do you have source of that semen demon, dear user?

I like this new trend of referring to linux distros by their fatal flaw

Arch isn't actually flawed if you know what you're doing, i just needed a convincing argument for

Linux will never work properly

we need google to make some shit
they will probably botnet as bad as ms though

No, fuck Google. I don't trust them with shit. Would rather have Apple completely revamp their OS and make it less botnet (if they are botnet at all, I imagine they'd be)

It annoys me that there is no truly great desktop OS even though the desktop is one of the oldest computer types that should be perfected by now.

What will it take to get Windows level compatibility with Linux/OSX tier everything else?

Why can't someone just do it already? Throw some fucking money behind a new OS the same way Google got Android going to compete with iPhone. We get new fucking browsers every year and there are all sorts of Word alternatives but nobody wants to make any new OS since forever(just more Linux dists).

Why is it so hard to use anything but Windows? Even Linux users all fucking dual boot it. You'd think with the rise of Android and iOS someone would jump at the chance to reinvent the desktop OS for the modern age, but no. The best alternative is still fucking Macintosh of things.

>mfw wincucks are defending this

>Why is it so hard to use anything but Windows?
People choose convenience. "Hurr I've been using it forever, I don't want to switch, learning how to computer is hard" plus a general lack of knowledge (but I can't open my poorly formatted Word documents that I haven't looked at in 15 years, they will look wrong because I'm too stupid to use formatting properly).
Compatibility is an issue because proprietary software is a thing. Can't really develop software that is compatible to other software if you don't know what its API is like, what it's actually doing etc etc. Also licensing issues.

Basically we were fucked over decades ago when proprietary software was allowed to become successful by aggressively marketing it to dumb people.

AND YET. Despite all of this.
It's a better desktop OS than any GNU/Linux distro.

When was the last time anyone had problems with their audio or compositing or lack vsync?

I haven't had audio, compositing or vsync problems on GNU/Linux, ever.

The time wincuck 10 decided to ditch the legacy driver and use the unstable garbage on it's own

sitting in your basement playing sysadmin for your mothers home pc doesn't count as work

>not dual booting
Windows for video games for my Japanese porn games that don't work on anything that isn't Windows and for certain vidyas that don't work on Linux, and Linux for everything else.

Doesn't everybody do this?

>>No included ethernet/wifi/graphics drivers
Really?

I know Windows 8 came with those. Windows 7 and ones before it didn't.

>buttons are windows
same in x11

you forgot
>seh exploits
>aslr randomized exactly 1 time, on startup
>stack cookies depend on aslr to be random

>No included ethernet/wifi/graphics drivers
I did a fresh install of the anniversary update the other day and didn't have a single piece of undetected hardware. It found all my chipset drivers, along with wireless and Bluetooth, and downloaded graphics drivers once it reached the desktop. Literally just werks.

THANk YOU BASED MICROSOFT

>A program freezes

>Windows
>Spam alt+f4 and wait for the prompt or force it closed in task manager

>GNU
>lol pkill does nothing better reboot faglord

>Doesn't everybody do this?
because it's not 2004 anymore and everyone has a cpu supporting IOMMU now

>sitting in your basement playing sysadmin for your mothers home pc doesn't count as work
He wasn't talking about being a linux sysadmin though

That's why he said windows

Windows 10 Anniversary Update Borked Their Partitions
omgubuntu.co.uk/2016/08/windows-10-anniversary-update-delete-partition

pkill sends SIGTERM by default
if that doesn't work use pkill -SIGKILL

top kike

It's not windows, it's another malware that caused the issue, someone replaced some executables with malware in fosshub hack. The malware just over writes the MBR. NSA/Windows deleted classic start menu and people had to reinstall from fosshub, that's why it's incidence is too high.

Yet another reason to purchase the new Apple MacBook Pro with Retina Display.
