I try to use BSD every now and again. But having to go to the documentation and the poor driver support/ software is too little or doesn't offer what I want. I'm not a programmer so the OS being free has no influence on me. I'm sure the people who really do use BSD makes personal changes to their kernel or write their own software for their specific needs. Which is what's awesome about it! But as only a power user it just isn't for me.

It's getting better. Both GNU/Linux and BSD would improve if more people were using BSD.

BSD existed before Linus even wrote the first lines of code into the Linux kernel.
