Actually OP might be right. I don't even remember xvideos not preloading videos. Youtube used to do it as well but they don't do it anymore

Xvideos is tiny compared to Youtube. They don't have to deal with Youtube's concerns on bandwidth.

So it's dumber to make a client side application that keeps the video buffered than keeping the stupid program that deletes your whole buffer when seeking unloaded segments? Please elaborate.

If it sucks on desktop when I don't want to watch whole videos like a dumb calf staring at a barn wall but have to seek and pause frequently then it's really google's fault for not making the experience better for people who don't have the bandwidth to stream 999 FullHD videos at once.
Glad I can at least use browser addons to fix it.

Also, considering the feature "auto quality" basically downloads all the re-encoded qualities I doubt they really care about the amount of data they're streaming.
