I installed OSX on a Virtual Box VM, but don't know what to do with it. Why is it so great?

Any of you peepz use Xcode?

Is there even a hackintosh laptop?

You can only post in this thread if your trip starts with Fag.

Who /fag/ here?

is it really this much of newfags this summer?

Yes.

Thinkpads can use OSX just right, as a matter of fact.

would I be able to do a hackintosh out of this?
This PC is just collecting dust and I want to do something with it

Wow dude nice monitor

Hi
I would like to know if my laptop with an i7 4700hq and and nvidia 840m can support OS X in a VM and if so can I connect my iPhone to it and use Xcode?

people talk about how it looks but that's mostly preference imo, tho i do like the look personally.

but what makes OSX the superior experience to me is the attention to detail. there's a lot of functionality that i noticed was missing when i switched back to windows. here's some examples -

> system wide dictionary - accessible from almost any program (browser, reader, whatever), highlight and define a word
> system wide scripting - other OSes have it too but it's really easy to do shit with it on OSX especially if you don't know much about coding / scripting (which is really the target group for a tool like this, if you can code you prolly dont need that shit anyways)
> text highlighting / moving / right click behavior: the way the cursur jumps when you use cmd+arrow keys in a textbox, the fact that when you rightclick a word it highlights the word and shows the context menu for the whole word, which is really useful considering there isn't really any other reason to do this - if you right click a word you probably want to do something with that word (define / copypaste / use autocorrect / whatever)
> default keybinds are much more accessible, you don't have to do crazy acrobatics to close a program

etc etc

also this attracts a userbase as well as amateur enthusiasts who themselves care about a proper GUI. it's surprisingly easy to find good, free 3rd party software for OSX for most common tasks. i was baffled how hard it was to find a webradio tray applet for windows that doesn't look like complete and utter shit

my main complaint about OSX nowadays is the way they peddle to their fancrowd now and the price tag. apple pre-cook was rock solid imo. i don't care if the guy's a faggot fact is he seems to be a shit CEO.

i just hope someone will fill the void when the macfag ship sinks.

it always baffles me how shitty and unintuitive / inconsistent the GUIs out there can be when there's so much money in the market.

I do need my windows but I will say, the magic trackpad is the bees fucking knees motherfucker

sounds like pretty standard hardware, just find a tutorial and try it. if you're lucky it'll be a task of 20 minutes, or it might be nigh impossible, just try really. it's hard to say for sure if certain hardware is supported. eg i had a CPU that was supported according to the forums but it turned out i had the 1.01 version of that CPU or some shit and the only way to get it to work was to throw a million boot flags at it and pray and even then it was sluggish af.

just try if you got some spare time.

OK thanks bro

XD

Since you seem knowledgeable about apple things, do you think iOS and OSX will merge one day? Kind of like how you can detach a your display in Windows 10 and use it as a tablet?

I don't really see the point in a hackingtosh. I like OSX because it meets my needs and more hassle free than Windows. By going the hackingtosh route, I'd be putting myself back into the world of dealing with stupid bullshit to keep it running correctly. That completely defeats the purpose imo

There's a reason Apple didn't go with OSX for the original iPhone. It's a phone, not a PC.

RETINA MACBOOK PRO 13" MID 2014, WHATS THE CHEAPEST WAY TO UPGRADE MY SSD DESU? IM ON A MEAGRE 128GB AND COULD DO WITH MORE

Buy an sd to microsd adapter that fits flush in your model, then buy a 128gb micro sd card, it's not ssd speeds but it prevents you from having to replace your already expensive and fast ssd for an entirely new one. My solution costs around $70 in total.

For a proper SSD, there is no real cheap way, it's a non standard size.

OWC does sell an aftermarket upgrade one, but it's pretty darn expensive, $348 for 480GB. eshop.macsales.com/shop/ssd/owc/macbook-pro-retina-display/2013-2014-2015

>Another sick epic new general

wanna make an el capitan installation usb drive without a mac.

what do?

big anime cock

I got a weird ass phone message yesterday (screechy and scratches) saying, and I paraphrase, DON'T... USE... YOUR... APPLE... PRODUCTS...
Anybody else get this shit?

i downloaded my vm el capitan image from rutracker, and in the torrent there was a description about doing it in windows. But I think it would be better to first download a fresh new image from inside the vm.

...

is OS X Mavericks still supported? I'm planning to downgrade my 2012 mbp

Yep, just security and 3rd party software, though. If you want to use Apple software you'll be stuck with older versions.
