My dad does

Maybe some schools in rural areas and grannies who don't want to upgrade but other than that I can't think of anything

I wish it was supported because i miss it. I miss msn and I miss the world of warcraft with guildies on ventrilo.

Mom does - but just at home, not at her job.

Honestly, if I didn't have Linux, I'd quite possibly have kept XP on some machine.

Windows 7-10 actually still annoy me more than XP - even today.

i still have a machine with xp sp2/sp3 in it (im posting from it right now), its pretty comfy. everything is where its supposed to be, no need to dick around with configs and shit.
would _not_ recommend to normies though

yea same here. he also has a comp running fucking windows 2000 for some reason.

all his personal comps have win 7, but he needs xp for some of the old software he needs to use for his job, it's all old shit

I think I might dual boot it with the clusterfuck that 10 is becoming. How viable is it for new programs? I'm only keeping windows for muh gaymes

> its pretty comfy
Do you feel Win 7, 8, 10 are just as comfy or not?

Not at all.

My computer usage class has it on a couple of the machines.

Not same user, but it's not very viable.

Half the programs you might want to install or update say they are discontinued on XP, and often actually can't work. [I think in particularly those that use OpenGL and the like don't work, maybe also some that use .NET or something.]

> I'm only keeping windows for muh gaymes
Use Linux. Boots extremely quickly on most machines (with systemd), can run stable for years, is suitable for stashing exabytes of data (though you probably just have terrabytes), has all the usual software you might need and more.

And there is not much BS that most software wants to push onto you. It's in a way almost boringly efficient.

I recently resigned from a casino that still uses XP in the cashier's cage. They also still use AS400 for pretty much everything that touches the corporate accounts (payroll, GL, employee records, purchasing, etc)

My dad does, but he is a commercial editor and a lot of pirated editing software he is using doesn't work higher than XP. He also uses 7 though.

>Commercial editor using pirated editing software
Huh, I thought having to use programs for work was one of the reasons people paid for exorbitantly expensive shit like photoshop, lightroom, vegas, etc.

hey, he won't get rich by paying for software.
kek bet even the XP is also a riced up pirate copy.

Yes

Yeah, every second shop in China.
So next time you hear "There's been a Chinese cyber attack on US networks" take it with a grain of salt.

yes, i

Romanians do, not all, but many of them have shitty pcs that run only on xp. It's not unusual that someone calls me to reinstall their os. After I reinstall it they complain about all kind of shit, as the pc being slow on web, etc. And they fucking have just 512 ram or 1gb at best.

It's not just the third world either, the US military still uses Windows XP in a lot of their computers and they're basically forcing Microsoft to continue to update that OS for them, which makes me kek.

I have one T60 dual booting Win XP and Puppy Linux. Puppy is there for internet use. XP is still needed for some old software. And what the hell. No point replacing it anyway, since the old T60 is not going to run anything newer with any reasonable speeds.

yes but you're spanish and many 3rd word countries dont have Windows 7 or 10

Microsoft peddles Windows 10 even in China.

Maybe 3rd world countries just don't particularly want Windows 10?

The internet bandwidth consuming bullshit and hunger for resources doesn't really lead to a better experience watching porn or whatever else.

yes. my accountant, against my tech sawy advice, still uses it. Because he is a cheap fuck running a 15yr old SO installed 5yrs ago in a 10yr old hardware.

make him use some VM for fucks sake

...

that's both horrifying and very believable.

it'll run (almost) every single visual novel
XP can run more of those than windows 7.

not sure if he'd go for something like that, he's one of those 'set in his ways' types. plus it works as is for the software he uses, so i don't really want to fuck with it that much.

if i messed around with it and something went wrong, i'd never hear the end of it

My bank still runs it on their ATMs.
How I know? BSOD of course.

>visual novel

And wc3 and the old DotA.

eastern european kids who still play SA:MP
j/k nobody here plays that anymore

Not a main OS per-se, but a main OS for old games that will not run on Win 7 or older, even with compatibility mode and nGlide. On a second computer I have hooked up to the TV.

One of my uni professors uses XP for Embedded on his Thinkpad because it still receives security updates.

I'm a IT asst. in a luxury resort and some of our servers still run XP (servers, yeah...). Some of our most critical departments also have some pcs with XP.

ur a moron

I hated everything after windows 7. I don't even know how to use the newer operating system , now I know how my parents feel when they try to use technology

I use XP its only good for dos games and old pc's would not recommend to anyone.

the finding the drivers part is stupidly hard and servicepacks will likely get you a virus.

there is next to zero support for browers and only firefox works
many wireless networks in modern systems no longer support xp so your stuck with jerry rigging a wireless G Adhoc to internet brige or using a cat5 cable and manually setting up the network

its more of a pain now not worth it for new systems.

Ayy lmao, you never talked to bosnians then, they still play nothing but their SA:MP and CSS cracks on their toasters

I believe you, but here in NW Kurwatia the Molten WoW, SA:MP and CoD4 scene pretty much were dead and buried once LoL and steam with CS:GO became a thing, also, cheap consumer laptops with new OSs.

My small company does : CAD softwares still work well so why bother...

I do on a old Dell; workshop pc, has parallel and serial so I can plug into most old cars, and almost all of the programs work exclusively on xp.

10 rupees have been deposited to your Windows® 10 Microsoft® Account.

2 network admins use xp as their main machine at a place I've done some contracting work for.

ignorant opinion of the day here.

maybe you should be in Sup Forums

it work fine and you will get security updates for ie8 with the posready hack

It's not my main OS but I use POSReady 2009 here and there on a netbook and a UMPC

...

he isn't welcome there

they really hate tripfags

On my ThinkPad because I couldn't bother to get a Win7 installation.
Comfy af.

>470px high useful vertical space
Thanks for taking me back to 1995

Many games still use direct sound like source engine games or league of legends. Both have stopped supporting xp, the only system their audio works properly in.

bump

I actually use GNU/Linux on my laptop, but on my gaymen computer I stopped using it when GTA V came out. Most AAA PC gaymes don't come out on GNU/Linux and most won't work on WINE.

I have a computer at work that has it. It's not my main computer, and it's not connected to the network, but we have it for some legacy shit that still use parallel/com ports and hyper terminal.

Apparently hyper terminal was taken out of Windows, so we kept this one around to connect to an industrial barcode printer and a couple old barcode scanners. For some reason, parallel to USB adapters don't work with the printer, can't remember why, but I remember reading something on the manufacturer's support forum about it.

It does the job well enough, and it's not worth the effort to think of a "better" solution.

>I still use my hald-me-down early 2000s Dell mommy gave me and nothing newer than XP will run on it so I pretend that I prefer it
This is what I hear when some idiot on Sup Forums says they run XP in fucking 2016.

Clone the drive and convert with the standalone VMware converter or Symantec used to make one depending on which hypervisor you want to run.

Businesspeople love that shit, having their old machine available on their newer/more powerful machines desktop.

Windows 2000 is great btw.

And Duke nukem and C&C.

You're right senpai

What res is that? 1600x1200?

It literally says it next to the filename

>What res is that?
>File: desktop1.jpg (47 KB, 1280x1024)

Nope. I use a lightweight GNU/Linux distro instead on that old machine.

I never used a XP as personal OS, I started with Vista, currently 7 ;-;

>I still use my hand-me-down early 2000s Dell mommy gave me and nothing newer than XP will run on it so I pretend that I prefer it
>This is what I hear when some idiot on Sup Forums says they run XP in fucking 2016.

skylake build here all the latest hardware running XP. only thing missing is nvidia 1080.
before I buy one I'm waiting to some if some modders out there are going to figure out xp-driver issue.

use it to play Diablo 1 in 2K resolution (belzebub mod)

Playing an Amazon the spell at the bottom left is guided arrow.

dawn of the dadOS

Dutch government still use it on old systems disconnected from the Internet (or so they say).

I have an old laptop with it, I booted it up after years and shits still so comfy. It'd be dumb to use it now though. I just use GNU/Linux for everything that I can and windoze for games.

You STARTED with Vista? How old are you?

Winamp
Why

w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_os.asp

>many 3rd word countries dont have Windows 7 or 10
Almost everyone here is a normie with Windows 10 on their machines

My school actually still does use XP.

Twenty three c:

I'm 20 and I started with 95 and ME. Vista is what convinced me to switch to GNU/Linux.

Say I did have a really old computer. Where would I get a copy of XP to put on it?

XP has too many driver and stability issues to use anymore, not to mention software stopped supporting it a while ago so the latest versions of many things won't work on XP at all. Windows 7 was a massive improvement in nearly all areas. There are aspects of Win7 which I don't like, but I don't regret leaving XP behind. I certainly won't be moving to 10 anytime soon, if ever. By the time I am forced to abandon Windows 7, Linux should finally have decent video drivers from AMD and Nvidia with Wayland support. With Vulkan taking off, it might finally be time for Linux to shine.

Yeah. I work at a multi national drugstore and they still use it, specially at the point of sale machines.

And I also know ATMs using it till today.

'Perks' of living in the Eastern Europe, maybe. Food, clothing and my education were the logical priority over having my own PC. And that was somewhere in my highschool. Not that everyone who is of my age had their first PC when they were in highschool, but many did, I think. Things changed nowadays, kids in elementary school talking about minecraft and what not, lol.

>more people using XP than Vista
>almost as many Chrome OS users as Vista users

git out scrub

Code for Hentai games?

Know plenty of relatives that do. Normalfags don't give a fuck about what they run as long as it does what they want it to do.

Have plenty of XP boxes myself that I use mostly for basic shit like web surfing, ssh and legacy compatibility stuff, but I prefer 2K/NT for that.

Almost all of the DoDIN is on win7 now. Haven't had an XP machine in a while. It might still be used on some legacy systems.

>not missing scbw instead
i loved that game so much
the shitty mod tools
the campaign editor
the story

why isn't blizzard the same any more
why does everything die in this world

I don't miss it because I was shit at the game so I didn't play it

>there will never be an OS as comfy as XP again

why live?

I work for an MSP and I see stupid shit like this daily. I've seen financial companies that hold sensitive tax information on laptops running XP that people take home. I've seen law firms with heaps of identity information on all their clients running XP SP1 on "servers".

There are areas where it's fine, and there are others where it should be illegal. Lots of places that do some form of CAD work for example sometimes still run on 3.1 because it just works, and there's no need to upgrade. And the cost of upgrading would be astronomical. That's fine.

Then there are places like this law office I've done work for that desperately need to migrate to new everything, and they refuse to do it. It's actually terrifying.

>>there will never be an OS as comfy as XP again
clearly you haven't used Debian

>AS400
Same in my country.

I keep seeing this ERP in quite a LOT of places

I have a USB with Tails lying around; if I remember correctly it has a quick XP skin switch, for purposes such as not looking suspicious in public.

I think XP will look more suspicions now than anything.

DYEdownloadGentoo?

top lmao at that webm

the early/mid 2000's internet and windows xp was such a comfy match

i agree, debian is the windows xp of linux, stable and comfy.

what exactly is horrifying about either of those? AS/400s along with mainframes are quite ubiquitous in the financial industry and there's nothing really wrong with using XP in such a basic role, it's not like they're running IIS or some other swiss cheese or being used for heavy unsecured web browsing

Most Point-Of-Sale PC still use this shit in the "Embedded" version.

Hospitals
Source: I'm in one.

McDonalds registers use the embedded version still. but their digital menuboards run windows 7 embedded
