My 6870 just died, literally 10 minutes ago and i am currently on built in card. What card would complement my build? Or should i just trash whole thing and get whole new setup? Help, please.

Gtx 1060
new build. don't mention AMD in it as Sup Forums is heavily nvidia shilled
Wait for Zen and then build a new one.
No point going overboard on a new card with that CPU. I was running a 1090T at 4GHz with a GTX 780 earlier this year and it was bottlenecked heavily in many titles. I'd look at something like a used 7870/270/270X if you're going to persist with that setup, or perhaps an RX 460 when they're released.
get something of ebay cheap and wait till zen release then build a new setup
you need better cpu, gpu, ssd.... and ram
>my 4670 still running like when i bought it 6 years ago
I feel you. I've had 4670 HD since 2010. If I don't get rid of it now, I doubt I will until it dies.
No one "needs" a SSD. It's an optional luxury item.
Unironically wait for Zen or toss in something like a used 270/280
It massively improves quality of life for desktop tasks. I'd happily compromise on other parts in order to have an SSD, but they're so cheap these days that that's not really necessary. There's literally no reason not to have one as a boot drive.
>saving half a second here and there "massively" improves quality of life
Holy fuck no. I'd rather take the money and put them into better CPU/GPU and more RAM.
new build but send me your current processor please and thank you
OP here
so i guess its new pc then
i was thinking:
>i5 4690K
>r9 290
i have no interest or money for 4k gaming so i dont new newest gen
Start here, OP
Alternatively, you could just buy a good GPU, embrace the fact that you're currently bottlenecking and build a new system once Zen is out.
CPU's fine, but if you want 1080p for any period of time, you should probably get current-gen budget/mid-range card.
get a 980ti now that its cheap
Dont fall for the next gen meme
It isn't about load times, you cuck. It's about general responsiveness, which is massively improved on an SSD. I'm beginning to think that you're a turbopoorfag who's never actually used one.
Don't get an R9 290. Get a Fury while they're being sold off cheap. If you go Nvidia, for god's sake ignore people like this and don't buy a previous gen card from them. Pascal or AMD, those are your options.
>Or should i just trash whole thing and get whole new setup
this
OP here again
i just looked at the logical increments/ falcon/ whatever guide since i build my previous pc with it and i am thinking about buying excellent tier pc
>1060
>i5 6400
>16Gb ddr4
>1TB + 240 SSD
>EVGA GS 650W supply
my only question is, do i need to buy special heatsink? cant i use stock? i have never had any problem with any CPU i ever had and i always used stock?
Stock is fine, get a decent cooler if you plan to overclock
>recommending fury at all
>telling people to not get a dirt cheap maxwell card and instead shill out a premium for maxwell 2.0: lower IPC and higher clock speeds edition
please stop posting on here ASAP
grabbing a used 980 ti for under 350 is the best bang for your buck currently, you can get a classy for that much and at 1500mhz it'll beat even the highest clocked 1070s
pascal is garbage and the next series of cards to be released on 16nm is what everyone should be looking forward to, doubt there will be a 1080 ti this time and it would honestly be smart of them to not make one
...
rx480
OP here, i am about to spend my hard earned eastern european pittance on this. will i regret? final advice?
Get a better psu
remove z170 switch to H170 you are not over clocking anyway.....
Other than that wait a couple of months for zen
but the wattage is estimated at 300W and i am getting 650W psu of well known brand. whats the problem?
Get an i3 6100 + h110 board with a gtx 1070 instead and upgrade to 1440p.
Or a rx 480 if the 1070 digs into your budget too much.
>i3 6100
isnt my Phenom II X4 better that that?
No.
cpu.userbenchmark.com
You also get the benefit of ddr4.
The i3 6100 isn't far behind the i5 6500, but is much better value and a better choice if you can bump up to 1440p where CPU performance is less of an issue.
And here's the i3 compared to the i5.
In games they'll perform very similarly if that's what you're using your pc for. Past the i3 you start losing performance ler dollar. Performance goes up, but value goes down.
Either i3 6100, i5 6600k, or i7 6700k.
I can put together a sample build for you in pcpartpicker if you're open to suggestions. What's your budget?
Also go with a Korean ips monitor, a qnix branded one. I've heard they're very good.
>I can put together a sample build for you in pcpartpicker if you're open to suggestions
of course i am open to suggestions. i made this thread cause i dont know shit. if you are willing to spend your time to help me i am very grateful.
Running a Sapphire Radeon HD 4890 Toxic Vapor-X 2gb @ 1025 MHz since 2008
Waiting for big Vega and Zen.
>What's your budget?
forgot to add. about 1000 dollaros is fine. 1200 max.
Oh then this is well below your budget
That's not including the monitor because you should probably go for one of those cheap Korean 1440p ips ones.
I have one (pic related) and it's great.
how does rx480 compares to 1060, 1070 and 1080? i got fucked over by ati and would rather get nvidia.
That's not too bad. My 4670 HD only has 512 mb... I'm not much of a gamer, but now it's the time to get rid of it and get something newer.
