More like game developers are already sick of having to port games to Windows PCs where there's a million different hardware configs, they don't wanna port them to Linux and have 13849184918 different software combinations and compatibility problems, software dependencies etc.

Anons, vulkan is the open source cross platform answer to DirectX dependency. Yes, OpenGL isn't very good, but vulkan can seriously compete with DX12.
