Finally saved up 2 months of welfare cheques to buy myself a budget midrange gaming PC, had to sacrifice cheeseburgers and coke, it was fuckin hard but worth it coz i wanna revive the gaming passion after burning out, i wanna play the No mans sky and the new Deus ex, shit kinda revived my passion.
But i'm like still not sure whether to get the rx480 or the gtx1060, also not sure if i3 would bottle neck it or should i get the i5? also ddr4 is useless for games and fps right? so dd3 coz its cheaper yeah? please advice. thanks brah.
Josiah Lewis
Where the fuck do you live where DDR3 is cheaper than DDR4?
If you get the RX 480, invest in a better CPU because of the overhead.
Camden Taylor
canada. like what? last gen i5?
Benjamin Fisher
Just get an one sale i3 and a decently priced 470 if it's 1080p, yu alcoholic hoser.
Asher Thompson
Wait for Zen, if it's good buy it if not go with an i5.
Christian Johnson
but yo didnt zen got post poned till 2017? nah fuck man i aint waiting anymore deus ex comes out like next week
Aaron Thompson
Wait...
Hudson Moore
If you're buying right now I would go i5 with a RX480 then later on get a FreeSync monitor.
Dominic Watson
>coke
>choosing a video card over cocaine
lol fucking pleb
David Hughes
what's the cheapest freesync monitor that's 4k ips. probably 6-700.
Gavin Adams
coca cola, not cocaine you kid. sugar is just as addictive anyway.
Dominic Garcia
listen pal, i know that you think trolling a troll is some cheap thrill, but it's serious business around these parts, and if you don't pay your do, get ready to be beat.
Zachary Hughes
I'm curious as to what your build is gonna look like, if you don't mind post what you have in mind
Joshua Lee
what he said
Grayson Barnes
BASICALLY IT'S
GET READY
GET FUCKING READY
SIX BILLION LOLIS JUMPING ON A QUADRO CARD WHILE RUNNING BENCHMARKS ALL DAY
Jason Wood
yo chill brah i was being serious i drink coke as in cola coz coke is too expensive
Nathan Hughes
1080p60fps gaming pc for current games
Camden Cooper
choose the parts in pcpartpicker and post it here
Adrian Ward
>coke is too expensive do you make excuses for everything else in your life as well?
fucking nigger
Xavier Wright
but i dont know what to get 480 or 1060 and i5 or amd for cpu
Logan Murphy
pls don't get an amd cpu with a 1060 or 480
Carter Morris
why not? but ok i trust ya, still not sure if 1060 or 480
Austin Turner
I don't know, nor would I buy a 4k monitor until cards that can push 4k 60fps for under $500 come out.
Gavin Lopez
they're cheaper for a reason, also it's 5 year old technology at this point.
Gavin Thomas
I'm a AMD guy and I won't touch an AMD CPU. The power draw is high vs what you can get with intel. More power equals more heat. I'm currently waiting for zen.
My setup, 2 AMD 7950's with an i5
Kayden Davis
So my friend just got the powercolor rx480, is that a decent card? I'm kind of so so on the the brand and the price since it's about 240
Elijah Rivera
1440 you fucking nigger
Cameron Sanders
Hol up fool why do you need a gaming PC when you can get a console and two games for like $250 on Amazon?
Connor Perez
I agree.
Liam Foster
...
Andrew Sanders
are you freaking serious? please fuck off this is insulting to me. there is nothing in this world that i hate more than idiotic consoles. fuck also buying games, you wish, you jew, i'll pirate till i die and i'll use the extra money saved for cheeseburgers and cola.

hmmm 480 seems to be faster with future tech but 1060 is faster with old dx11 tech... just wondering how long it will take for game devs to switch to dx12 and vulkan, then i'd definitely buy the 480

480 it is then, but wtf man newegg canada all 480s are out of stock..
Carter Morris
in dx12 nvidia and amd have equal driver overhead which is very low. and before anyone brings up pic related i'm just going to do a tldr.
>tldr all you need is a 2500k or higher. technically a 3ghz nehalem. haswell or above is absolute sweetness. you do not need the latest and greatest i7.
>tldr #2 all pic shows is the processor bottlenecking the 480. this is NOT a driver overhead issue as explained above. with async enabled, the 480 processes a lot of data and the potato processor x4 955 from 2009 with core 2 quad level of performance cannot keep up with the 480's async.
>tldr #3 nvidia does not have async enabled in doom - vulkan. all it benefits from is less driver overhead compared to opengl. this is why the increase from opengl to vulkan with both the 955 and 750 is the same 12fps. if you looked, with the 955 the increase on the 480 too is 10fps. similar to the 1060. with the 750 the 480 jumps to a 18fps increase, higher than the 1060's, because it enters a level of cpu performance that's able to start keeping up with the 480's async performance.
>tldr #4 i don't understand why they went from a 09/10 processor all the way up to essentially 2015/16 processor. little more than half a decade of improvements. but honestly, by seeing the leap from the awful 955 (core 2 quad level) to 750 (2.6ghz first gen nehalem), a 2500k should be more than enough. and if its the k, there is zero reason why it should not be overclocked to a minimum of 4.2ghz with a 212 evo slapped to it.
>tldr #5 all you need is a 2500k or higher. technically a 3ghz nehalem. haswell or above is absolute sweetness. you do not need the latest and greatest i7.
>tldr #6 don't complain if you have a haswell i5 or higher
>tldr #7 you don't need the latest and greatest i7. all you need is a 2500k or higher for dx12. dx11 is a different story but honestly again, you don't really need the latest and greatest i7. something like a ivy or haswell i5 will play dx11 games just fine.
Wyatt Hughes
dx12 is the future and contrary to the memes people on /g like to spew, most people don't go off and buy new hardware every six months to a year. people keep their cards for awhile. even $200 ones. only a small group which sadly has a loud voice buys new parts every six months to a year.
the 480 is the better choice for future games.
plus adaptation rate for dx12 has been faster than dx11 and especially dx10. and according to the latest steam survey, most gamers are on windows 10 now.
Brayden Gutierrez
I have to agree with this, I got a 390, and honestly, its powerful enough that I won't be upgrading for quite a while, even though I'm sitting on a good amount of cash, I could build a computer with intels stupid $1,600 CPU and 2 pascal titan x's, etc etc, but I'm sitting on an AMD 8350, and r9 390, not because I'm a fan boy, because the 8350 is a great multitasking CPU, I've heard people say that going from the 8350 to an i5 4th gen (4460 or slightly higher) felt like a total side grade, and slight downgrade in certain terms, for instance, gaming while listening to music, while on skype with friends, or maybe a video on a second monitor, saying the i5 got lower frame rates due to all the threads of the i5 being utilized fully for the game.
Chase Ross
>faster than dx11 and what i mean by this is the time frame from release of dx12 to now. its been faster. what helps is: >most cards made in the last five years support dx12 >fast rate in the adaptation of windows 10 among gamers and even normies >dx12 brings a lot of features and performance increases developers and gamers have been needing and wanting.
and the nice thing about the 480 is since its based off of gcn, it will be supported and improved on via drivers for years to come. just like 16.7.3 and 16.8.1. they brought a lot of performance increases on the 480 in both dx12 and dx11 vs the release drivers that most benchmarks are based on.
William Cook
I got 16gb of ddr4 ram at microcenter cause they were having a sale, just gotta be on the lookout.
Brayden Lee
yeah the 8350 is competitive in games that can utilize all 8 of its core. typically matches a stock haswell i5. dx12 helps it a lot as well.
John Wood
with that sad, its not the best in single threaded though. its really shown its age there but overall its aged well from release. all those years yeah ivy, haswell, and now skylake has been faster but it wasn't needed outside those running 4k, dual / tripple monitors, or professional production. but then again if you're professional you wouldn't be buying mid range hardware.
zen should be very enticing to upgrade to though.
Anthony Scott
ddr4 is cheaper than ddr3 and faster
Anthony Robinson
not in all countries though.
Xavier Rogers
No, Zen is late this year. It's still unclear whether the first Zen chips are going to be desktop (cheap) or workstation (expensive) parts.
Wyatt Thompson
GPU: Whichever is cheaper but 1060 is better CPU: i5 6500 RAM: 8GB 2133Mhz
William Clark
Budget midrange - i3-6100/RX480. This i3 outperforms Sandy Bridge i5's, and its high single thread performance will help the RX480 perform better in DX11 titles.
Brody Long
Question: Will a i5 3570 non-k be enough to handle the RX 480's overhead?
Justin Sanchez
I'm pretty sure it will. Even my 3550 will do the job.
