I've been caught pirating in Canada, they sent me an email about it, what should I d?

Laugh about it.
Commit sudoku.
It's too late, they're already coming for you- better try and DBAN all your drives to at least make your sentence less lengthy...
Good luck.
Move to a real country. Just hope Lord trump does not build a great Northern wall too
Triple 6 pretty much tells you how screwed you are.
Get a VPN.
Or simply don't do anything because the ISP doesn't really care and they don't actually want to lose you as a customer, their email process is just a formality that's required of them by the industry
Tor with tails
>they sent me an email about it
If they actually meant business, they'd use snail mail.
If Bell has any sort of notion that OP is about to leave them they will absolutely throw him to the wolves.
Or if he has a grandfathered pricing structure that they can't get rid of.
good riddance, leafy
What will happen if I ignore the email?
What does the email say? Does it say stop getting caught pirating things or we'll disconnect your internet? Does it say stop getting caught pirating things or we'll subpoena you? Does it say stop getting caught pirating things or we'll throw you in jail for murder?
Stop being thick. Just get a VPN and ignore the automatic email they send out
How can I convince the owner of the internet to stop freaking out and just ignore it, she won't listen. She thinks people are watching the house
why did you torrent
I wanted the game for free
If I delete the file would they have no evidence?
OK, I get it, your mom / landlord got the email.
Tell her that it was a mistake and that you won't do it again.
Then, buy a VPN service, and only torrent through that.
Yeah, it's my aunt
And I don't think she cares
How much is the fee?
Change your name to Reggy
why do you torrent kids
why not just download it without uploading to somebody else
which is the 'expensive' crime of the two
Never answer emails regarding piracy. At best they can assume it was you who did it, but if you reply they'll know you did. But either way, you can just feign ignorance and say that someone used your wireless network because it wasn't secure or some shit like that, and that you think it might be your neighbor or something.
Yeah I know, but my aunt doesn't seem to want to do that.
How much are they going to charge me?
an ISP usually records your let me just call it ip history here and saves it for some time
anonymously so no harm done
then mr lawyer or who the fuck ever ask mr ISP who that IP belonged to at that time and if there's a good reason like a possible crime behind him asking that that information gets released if still available
the other common possibility is that the lawyer or whoever in fact himself is the person who owns the website you got your shit from and like that knows your IP anyways and just has to nicely ask mr ISP again....
I don't know where OP lives but that's how it works in most civilized places
nothing. you're not in murrica or britain so don't sweat it.
a-user are you alright?
It's Canada.
Just say SOREY a buncha times.
That's what you get for being A FUCKING LEAF
Send them email with apologies.
What is the email address? If its from the official company who owns the copyright of the material then consult a lawyer and see if they have a case(Ex: You pirated a sony music file and got an email ending with @Sony.com)
If its from a random email ignore it cause its an ambulance chaser fishing for copyright settlements
Also
PS: Do NOT reply to the email without a lawyer
In Canada, ISP's are required by law to forward you the email, but they don't have to tell the sender who was the pirate. Like other anons said, just ignore it. Only a very tiny fraction of pirates actually get taken to court.
Delete immediately before someone gets hurt!
They'd still have evidence of you torrenting (maybe not know for sure if you finished the download, or whether you seeded or not).
Illegally cross the border to the USA, and become a migrant worker.
Or just move to south america, no one will ever bother you for piracy. free games 4eva
