GNOME is literally the worst DE ever, the remove configuration and themes break ever update to protect the "brand identity". Did you know a GNOME dev didn't even know what XFCE was?

I think the main problem with GNOME are the devs. Some of the usability complaints with GNOME3 could be fixed with small changes. One of the major complaints was lack of customisation options in the settings. Fix for this would just be merging gnome-tweak-tool and dconf-editor into the GNOME settings.
Simple shit like this is never getting considered because it apparently is not "the GNOME way"
Other than that it is usable at the moment, if you dont talk about GTK+
