Which OS for IBM Thinkpad T22?

my retarded brother brought this ancient peace of shit and ask me to make it work

I installed Win7 on it but its slow as fuck

wat do?

Why the fuck would you use such an old laptop?
Anyway, put Arch or Fedora on it.

Tell him he is an idiot, Then install a low resource intensive Linux distro.

Debian with LXDE. Low memory usage.

>apt

Windows XP.

i actually own one of these, it's not that bad.

i run debian on it (parrotsec) for shits and kicks, which is a bit slow.

try bunsenlabs it's what crunchbang (#!) used to be.

>crapt

I am afraid brother is too retarded to use any linux distro

what if I istall Win XP?

is it "dangerous" to use it because of no microsoft support?

will it harm our home network?

Install a gun and shoot yourself.

>needing a package manager
>not just downloading and compiling manually

Sell it for $150 to some hipster on eBay then purchase him a laptop manufactured in the last decade.

If you give him a Linux distro with everything he wants pre-installed, it'll be way easier for him to use without breaking than XP. I've learned this first hand when I slowly transitioned most of my family's computers over to Linux.

>unironically being autistic

Windows 2000 will be fine on it, that's what I run on mine.

Keep your shit behind a firewall, don't use it as a server like a retard and you'll be just fine. 90% of Windows breaches aren't through obscure exploits on unsupported/unpatched systems, they're user-authorized.

lubuntu

Windows XP and don't download anything from FreeCSGOHax.ru

Yeap. lubuntu on it.
I have an old netbook with lubuntu used as a seed box storage

OpenBSD

TinyCore. shit's pretty custom to make without a lot of need for compiling as well as you can add just what you want. I especially recommend it for small harddrives alongside low ram.

Win2k (security through obscurity) or XP

Arch or minimal Debian-based like #!++/BunsenLabs

Run the POSReady 2009 reg hack to keep getting """"security updates""""

>Run the POSReady 2009 reg hack to keep getting """"security updates"""
Just fucking install POSReady 2009

>pos
>piece of shit

I've never bothered looking for an ISO. I take it it's not difficult to find.

indeed

xDDD what an original joke user, did you think of that yourself? Oh wait, of course you didn't, because it's literally posted every time I mention the OS.

You can get it at microsoft.com

Debian, probably with LXDE.

neat, I thought they took down all of their older ISOs

Same!

Ubuntu Linux can be used by any windows user. Just did names for programs and did looks for them. But iv never had a prob with wincrap users being lost with ubuntu

Debian with xfce

I am that hipster. But only pre 2000 is worth 150$
Sell it OP, and use the profits towards getting him a little netbook or something with windows

>Win2k (security through obscurity)
There's nothing obscure about NT

Shit's not even worth $30, it's common hardware, nothing exciting.

>peace of shit

wow... just wow.

POSReady 2009

If you don't want to spend a lot of time and money refurbishing, or you just want something with all the pieces, old Thinkpads can be expensive.
Yeah a 770z with no OS, no HDD, dead battery and shit goes for like 20$
A fully working one with all the shit still together and in good shape is 100$+
