I've been using Avast for some years now, and it has gotten the job done, but lately I am put off a bit by how much they keep pushing "your computer rly needs to do the following and it'll cost 9.99 if you upgrade now"
Are there any free Antivirus programs that can provide a good amount of protection without asking me to spare some change left and right? What do you guys use?
I stopped using Avast when they began to inject ads into the emails I sent through gmail and never bothered to install something else.
Ethan Flores
MalwareBytes is the best Anti virus I know
Carter Rivera
I use Avast but I have the same issues. They're trying too hard to get shekels. Before I used to want to donate to them, now I just wish windows could let me use common sense(TM) without a bunch of skids trying to hax0r my megahertz.
Zachary Parker
Kaspersky for work infrastructure works like a charm and for home I don't have antivirus only common sense, don't download suspicious shit or at least have some VM with antivirus to check it
Colton Hill
I just use Windows Defender + Malwarebytes. I scan with Malwarebytes like once every two to three weeks.
Austin Reyes
Common sense 2016. I'm not an idiot like you and run animeporn.jpg.exe like you.
Jonathan Gutierrez
pretty much this
also install gentoo
Josiah Gonzalez
Comodo and Bitdefender
Brody Barnes
may I recommend you Gentoo my good sir
Grayson Brooks
qihoo 360
Daniel Jenkins
Interesting.
I use MalwareBytes for checkups but didn't know it was fully functional as an antivirus, especially since I read that you can have both Avast and MalwareBytes without any conflict between the two.
Times are hard. Avast might roll out micro-transactions soon enough.
I use common sense.. Along with noscript and adblock. But watching porn can lead to some unwanted stuff.
Is that Win Defender any good? I just installed Win10 and saw that shit.
I'm not downloading any .exe, bucko
Fuck off, Double niggers
Will look into that

that's no anti virus, its a Anti-malware. and yes i know both are still virus but MBAM has no firewall and shits.
Jason Johnson
Do a custom install and choose only the web and file shield (mail shield is relevant if you use outlook or other mail software).
Disable avast e-mail signature from settings to get rid of ads sent trough your mails.
Turn off the sounds and turn on silent/gaming mode, no more pop-ups will bother you after that.
Andrew Nelson
*i meant, both do remove virus
Luke Rivera
My man. Will give that a shot.
Also, checked
Dominic Flores
i would not recommend avast, because i read somewhere that they steal information about you or so, same as avg but i don't know what kind of information they steal from there costumers.
im currently using avira but it has some annoying ads (sometimes they rarely appears on screen for me)
Gavin Carter
Common sense is the only antivirus you need, and looks like it's not installed because you're running spyware as your operating system.

Spy Sheriff

Avira and Bitdefender are both great, Qihoo's 360 Total is kind of interesting because it uses both, but >chinese av.
Aiden Gonzalez
They all are crap. Common sense is all you need. No virus will execute by itself, it's you the one who clicks on it, so be careful (read: aware) on what you're doing and you should be fine.
Robert Perry
Stop shilling
Noah Lewis
this avoid avast, avira, avg, panda , mbam, etc. i cant stand nagging "buy me please"
Nicholas Turner
lol
Jonathan Clark
firewall? pfsense antivirus? nah
Leo Moore
What if someone sends you a nice malware infected packet? You could argue that firewall is all you need, but a good heuristic based AV might help.
Brandon Hall
bitdefender free is goat
Kayden Perez
I've been using Avira, the only time I get a notification to buy it is every few days or so at 1am or something like that. Even then it's a small box in the bottom right of the screen so idgaf
Luis Thomas
After building my new pc and installing avast any other anti virus it deleted safe files even when I added them to exclusions so I don't run any anti virus and let windows firewall do its job and use common sense of what's safe. Also the WOT chrome extension is good at showing dangerous sites
Kayden Lopez
>No virus will execute by itself ever heard of stuxnet?
Zachary Howard
Was about to post this
Jaxson Parker
Every free proprietary antivirus for windows is complete garbage for tech illiterate people. If you are tech illiterate either use comodo, it's least shitty. If you know anything about computers use tinywall+ublock+umatrix and scan with clamwin+malwarebytes once in a while. If you actually want decent AV get paid one.
Zachary Miller
Don't use a real time antivirus, just get malwarebytes and occasionaly run a scan. For the porn, just browse popular sites (xnxx, xvideos ecc.), and if you're into shady stuff, just keep a backup of the important stuff in case a curry encrypts all your shit
Charles Hall
>needing an antivirus
Carson Allen
There's hackers out there man, you can't be too careful
