>2016 >cameras don't capture the smell of the object in the picture >that smell isn't saved digitally as a .snif file and packaged with the image file >computers don't come with hardware that read .snif files so that the smell is recreated for the user upon viewing the picture
What are tech companies even working on? More meme operating systems and phones without headphone jacks?
Christopher Wright
why don't you just hook up with someone so your experiences with women aren't in a digital format?
why don't you work on that OP? Oh wait, you're stupid...
Easton Gutierrez
Do you even know what smell is? You're basically asking for a Star Trek replicator.
Sebastian Davis
the smelloscope from futurama is more accurate; Star Trek is gay
Andrew Scott
This will backfire on you quickly when Goatsy and Tub Girl come with .snif files, retard.
Oliver Thompson
smell == particle no particle no smell kill yourself

you can't easily generate molecules from electricity unlike light
Jaxson Hill
>why don't you just hook up with someone so your experiences with women aren't in a digital format?
Parker Phillips
Are you fucking retarded? Obviously the hardware would need to be refilled with chemicals that are combined to produce scents.
Carter White
Boy imagine being on Sup Forums with this
Jason Campbell
What about an implant that stimulates nerves electrically to create a sensation of smell?
Jaxson White
>implying you have the device to catch the smell
Levi Morris
Light and sound are waves so they can easily be generated. Smell comes from particles so those can't realistically be generated.
Christopher Perry
Yeah, I have it in my closet... fucking retard. Do you purposely go around acting like an autistic chinese child? That's the point of the thread, why aren't tech companies working on that. Thanks for the bumps though.
Christopher Reed
They can easily be generated with refillable chemicals, the only tricky part would be developing technology that can take those particles and map them out so they can later be reproduced.
Owen Williams
so when people fart and you smell it are you smelling tiny particles that have touched poop
gross
Mason Hill
Just pop a bit of pussy juice in a gas chromatograph and you're good to go!
Charles Watson
>touched poop No, it IS poop. The poop particles physically interact with receptors in you nose.
Then again, maybe it's only stuff associated with poop. I wouldn't know.
William Murphy
>.snif file
Kek. This thread peaked early.
Ian Watson
Artificial emission of smell stimulants is inherently problematic. You can turn off a screen or speaker easily or control the intensity of the output. With smell stimulants, once released they cannoth be toned down easily. Also imagine the abuse with people bombarding places with bad smell emission. I think it's just not viable for these reasons alone.
Another matter is how do you digitze smell exactly? We have multiple formats to encode color (such as RGB, HSV, CMYK etc.), same goes for audio (even easier because a single audio source is represented by just a wave). But is smell even understood well enough to be able to encode it into digital data? The only thing I could think of is a description of the physical substance which when dispersed in certain doses emits a certain smell sensation, but that's only indirect and the accuracy of reproduction should vary wildly due to a whole slew or different factors.

Eh, OP posted this yesterday as well as a crypto-foot thread except to see this sort of thread a lot more from now on.
William Allen
And how exactly do you plan on converting these physical particles into the correct smelling particles? Nuclear fusion isn't cheap.
