Razer BlackWidow Chroma (my roommate is getting pissed cause it's loud, do i even get another mechanical? or just get regular? plz halp)
Can someone suggest a nice smooth set of key caps in white. These tai-hao's are shit, getting a refund.
non clicky switches can be near silent if you don't bottom out or even if you dont mash the keys like a savage baboon
on what keyboard to suggest is beyond me tho user ill let someone else help you with that one
any anons know of a 60% keyboard with mx grays(linear or tactile idc)? or am i dreaming
>non clicky switches can be near silent if you don't bottom out or even if you dont mash the keys like a savage baboon
oooh thanks!
which zealio has the strongest bump feeling
67g? 78g? lube or no lube?
1st for memedox delays
or you can just get some cheapy rubber o-rings to put under if you cant not bottom out and it reduces sound quit a bit, i use them on browns and also find it makes the switches feel a little more solid and less grainy
>what keyboard is this?
Looks like a Leopold FC750R.

white fox?
CM novatouch with 55g domes. When you lube a novatouch it's way better than a realforce, no silencing required at all.

Ducky Shine 3. The 2 key just died, and expect more to go soon, so replacing it.
Before that, generic keyboards.
Im going to do soft landing pads and lube. What parts of the slider do you lube? Love the retro cherry look too. What spacebar is that? And is it PBT like the rest of that set?

Deciding between novatouch w new keycaps and realforce 87u all 45g
How much modding is required to improve novatouch would prefer that over rf87u if it's easy to make them comparable
How hard is it to lube?
I got pic related with MX Reds and it's great.
>if you dont bottom out
It doesnt make a sound.if you dont use them either
God that is a beautiful keyboard. It just has this unadulterated purity to it. Those OG Cherry Doubleshots no doubt are responsible for that. Winkeyless as well. It also uses the pencil holder case which is both aesthetically pleasing and functional if you ever use a pencil. Probably made in the early 90s and it blows 90% of keyboards you can get today out of the water in terms of looks and keyfeel (vintage MX). What our piece of tech from the 90s can still do that?
If that keyboard came up in the GH or reddit classifieds it would sell for $400 easy, maybe more. Not a whole lot of those early great cherry boards are left.
takes about 3 hours, 2 hours if you know what you're doing. It's not hard, just tedious.
I lube the rails, and the actual stem, Ive been lubing topre switches for years now, and that combo is the best IMO. I also take apart the stabilizer and lube that too. I'm telling you right now, the novatouch key travel already feels kind of short, the landing pads are going to ruin that topre feeling. If you lube it, its already going to be pretty quiet. Unless you don't mind having a linear feeling topre board, do not go with rings or landing pads, just lube it. The keyset is the EnjoyPBT set from shadovved on GH.

Logitech K200 (I like it, does what it does)
Time for some PCB design
Tempted to cop the keyboard in the op bit it's nonstandard so I won't be able to use keycap sets which bugs me
What are some mod-friendly, classically shaped and laid out tenkeylesses with either cherry or gateron switches? I'm not gonna solder leds onto the PCB or replace switch bodies or anything like that, but I'd like to be able to order some PBT caps in the future without having to file down every other key or hunt for custom stabilizers.
Replacing keycap on the keyboard is hardly a "mod". And you can get any tkl with standard layout and it'll be fine.
Friendly with mod however, I recommended Filco tkl. They've been on the market for a long time and there are many mod that you can do on it.
Should I get a nova touch or a hhkb?
just ordered my first mechanical keyboard because its on sale. how did i do?
Hey enjoy it man. I'm still on a K60.
Do you enjoy leds? Because that thing is bright. Really bright.
what an ugly shit
do you want garbage, or do you want the best memeboard ever made
Not as good as me. I just ordered a Logitech G910 Orion Sparkle.
never owned one before, should I go for pic related?
I don't use numpad but I don't see a point in getting the tkl model, I mean they are the same size and stuff
I have a CM Storm Quickfire tk and it's pretty good and is basically the same as the stealsh but with led, the only complain i have is that the spacebar is shit but overall is pretty good.
It's a piece of shit, my chinkboard has better build quality than the quickfire TK that I'm typing on right now.
I like mine, why do you think is shit?
Tell me about this Chinkboard how much does it cost?
my SteelSeries 6GV2 is dying.
what is better alternative then?
in the same price range
amazon.com
just buy this m8, it's been great so far
The case is flimsy, the bottom row is beyond non-standard (though the PCB would allow for a standard configuration) and the metal plate is also thin as shit, giving the whole thing some flex and the spacebar rattles like all hell.
Don't get me wrong, it's not a terrible keyboard that will break down on you in no time or something of the sort, but you can do better than this thing for the money. Every other keyboard I own has better build quality than this thing, and one of those is a 50 bucks chinkboard.
I've got gateron blacks and some PBT caps (except for the bottom row) on it now, and it's quite a decent typing experience, but I'd still not recommend it unless you absolutely want the layout and you're willing to spend a stupid amount of money on compatible keycaps.
Qisan Magicforce, I picked it up on Aliexpress for 50 bucks.
Quickfire Rapid if you want cherry switches, various chinkboards if you don't mind chink knockoff switches.
but I want brown switches
all I can find in my area is quickfire rapid-i, is it the same?
iirc, it's not from the same OEM that makes the quickfire rapid (Costar), so the build quality may not be as good, but it's certainly better than the quickfire TK just for the fact that it has a standard bottom row.
I've heard the rapid-i's LEDs have a high tendency to burn out.
>just for the fact that it has a standard bottom row.
so just because of the layout? or is there more to it?
Well, looking at the picture you posted, it probably wouldn't be too far fetched to assume that the quickfire rapid has a more solid build quality than the TK, probably with a fatter metal plate.
Though that's just speculation on my part, I don't have a quickfire rapid, so I can't really tell you what differences there are except for the fact that the quickfire rapid has a standard layout, which is already more than enough of a reason to choose it over the quickfire TK.
is it avaible in grey or did you paint it?
(and how did you paint it)
Do Ducky Shine 5's come in Clear or Green switches? Which is more similar to blue switches?
meh I didn't actually want to post that pic, I forgot I uploaded it
rapid is not available here, only rapid-i so it's that vs TK
and the leds on rapid-i burn out apparently so fuck that
Greens are more similar to blues. The Ducky Shine 5 doesn't come with either of the switches you inquired about. The Shine 4 comes with clears and greens, though last I checked it was sold out everywhere.
Though I am looking to sell my Shine 4 with clears if you're interested.
You can just turn the LEDs off, it won't affect the keyboard otherwise.
Did you actually put domes from Realforce in NT?
How long have you had that thing? Did you experience any case wear marks?
>tfw special snowflake colored key caps
>tfw colors other than gray or black
>tfw useless tiny keyboards
>tfw skull or otherwise shaped escape keys
i wish cherry made tkl boards
Yeah the spacebar is a piece of shit, the quickfire tk is my first mechanical keyboard so maybe that's why i haven't found it as bad as you did.
What is the point of lubing rails? It makes 0 sense
Originative blanks. They're light beige but they feel great. Thicc PBT
Vortex is working on pbt DSA and SA caps
...
>reddit meme spacebar
and back you go
I want a modern cherry keyboard with a color scheme like the two in the middle. Does anyone make grey/beige cases?
>Originative blanks
So Gateron blanks sold at a considerable markup?
Can't get worse than SPs shitty QC
I have the same just with MX Browns, and like said, that fucker is BRIGHT. I use the lowest LED brightness setting at night. But it is beautiful.
Protip: the keycaps are a bit weak. If you can find a defective K70 being sold for cheap and still has OK keycaps, get it and switch the keycaps. That's what I did, but with my old K70.
>I disagree with the way you rotate a single key by 180 degrees so it's shit!
Here we go again!

Black alps replacement for my gaymer keyboard from high school.
is this a joke? thats where the most friction from the slider comes from
hey guys
So I fell for the meme.
I already have a Model M I keep at my desk in office, but needed badly something to replace the wireless keyboard I had previously at home.
The ISO layout will take some time to get used to, but I can already feel it's superior to ANSI IT for programming. Local layouts are good just for writing text, actually.
I know it's a cheap board, but I dintinctly rnjoy the feeling that it matches with the mouse - similar texture and distinct clicks.
Why you no love mouse more, /mkg/?
>The ISO layout will take some time to get used to
that's ANSI
I have the same mouse and it's great (apart from the looks), but this is a thread for keyboards
Yeah, I never seem to get it right
> this is a thread for keyboards
Seems reasonable
Awww yeah, QC. Can't really complain for 37euro
So one of the switches (the e) won't fully depress on occasion, runing both the tactile and sound feedback. The easiest way to fix it? Should I lube it somehow, exchange it with another switch from the board, or will it just go away with use?
...
ok be honest boys. should i get the novatouch or the hhkb?
HHKB if you want meme points
Novatouch if you want Topre for a cheaper price, not as good as high end topre keyboards though
Neither. Topre is shit.
Hey guys, I just bought a model m, and it's my first mechanical keyboard. My mobo has this combo ps2 port, but the model m isn't even getting power from it... Could it be the keyboard is faulty or something else? I say its not getting power because none of the lock lights are working.
Never mind, I got it to work. Had to shut down my PC, then leave it plugged in while turning on.
Can confirm. Topre sucks.
If you really want to go for it and have the money, thake the HHKB though.
this is a fucking lie. Don't let these fags convince you into thinking the novatouch isnt as good. It's the same fucking thing.
It feels the same.
Sound, looks and layout are entirely different.
Why not just replace the switch for now and see what happens? You can order switches off mechkb.
Ordered pic related, am I in trouble now?

I dont know the percentages by heart (fuck me, right) but i know that I want something like the OLKB atomic, or the winkeyless B.Mini X2. I know these are just DIY PCB's, but I was wondering if there were compact ~60% boards that arent kits or are better kits? Also, can the Atomic have a split spacebar for spacefn? (sorry, I dont know how keyboards truly work.)

What is that? The font is disgusting
Now do I get the kailh or the cherry for 20 bucks more?
Definitely if your budget was 200 or less, go for the ~85 dollar keyboard not the ~65. Theres no real difference, other than slight differences in feel and definitely in reliability. I always go for the true, original product, rather than the second hand remake.
I'd go with cherry, Kalih doesn't have any benefits over cherry apart from being cheaper.
Anybody know if this Cherry SPOS is worth 50 bucks?
I just ordered the stuff to build a b.face x2. how did I do?
What are the caps made of? What switches?
