do work that's color-sensitive
have discerning vision

maybe neither is an option for you.

thanks for nothing faggot.

you bought something because you were wowed by specs and not because of actual needs that you have. coming here and asking us to show off what a smart decision you made is going to get you some ridicule. if you can't deal with it, maybe stop posting on Sup Forums.

>you bought something because you were wowed by specs and not because of actual needs that you have.
stopped reading here. i bought it because it was well reviewed and had what i wanted (IPS, 1440p, 25" or greater).

either post something i asked for or fuck off back to somewhere else.

god, you're such a whiny entitled faggot.

thanks for the reply.

Watch some porn.

I don't get it. Either your new monitor is shit or the content you're watching is.

>TN
>TV

What model user, I find it hard to believe you actually had a TN panel TV.

Look at this image.

looks red
manual doesn't say but it had shitty viewing angles so i'm guessing it was TN.

>looks red
Just red?
As in just a plain, red sqaure?

Stare at the backlight bleed and kick yourself for not buying a 1ms TN panel.

I only see a red here. 98% srgb

Is this guy for real

Did you buy your first TV (if you ever bought a TV) past 2010 ?

Multiple manufacturers had TN panels on their TVs (low to mid range) in 2007 (when I first look for HD TVs having then bought a PS3)

Yes. All red; all the same color red.
Monitor said something about being 100% sRGB. Don't know what that means but it sounded good.

thanks for the reply. you don't get a (You).

Can make it out in the compressed thumbnail, but not the full image.

>buys IPS panel
>doesn't even know what to use those extra colors for

Should have went for high-refresh rate TN panel and enjoy that infinite smoothnes.

I can see diagonal squares in the shape the thumbnail clearly displays on my IPS laptop.

You all only have sRGB as a target then, which is pretty bad actually.

Even AdobeRGB is deprecated in favor of Rec.2020, you should seriously do yourselves a favor and get off sRGB.

Rent/hire a color calibrator tool (a spyder4/5 will do) for a few days and set everything for DCI P3 or AdobeRGB, you'll at least be able to see the webkit logo in the previous picture, rather than plain red square

>>
Stopped reading there. I have nothing to say because I have zero information regarding your post

Oh I turned on sRGB mode in the monitor and now I see the gray logo. Before it was just a bright red square. Logo looks like this.

i can see this on a tn desktop display and on a tn hdtv
i can even see this on my thinkpad's 5 degree viewing angle tn

there is nothing ips about this

My screen is already color calibrated, it has a color sensor.

Your image is just red.

zozzle

Pretty close, it's just the webkit logo.

The image in engineered in such a fashion that proper sRGB should show it as a pure red box as the gamut doesn't extend far enough to display the logo.

Much like this rut of 1000:1 contrast we've been stuck on since the move to LCDs, sRGB is holding us back.

The future is at least looking bright though, RGB-OLED/W-OLED/LaserVue/etc and Rec.2020 will hopefully see us rid ourselves of the dull, listless vision of the early '00s.

It's calibrated to sRGB, which is bad.
Calibrate to DCI P3 or AdobeRGB.

The image has a red background and a slightly darker red webkit logo.
Check it in photoshop or like if you want.

fixed your image

>The future is at least looking bright though, RGB-OLED/W-OLED/LaserVue/etc and Rec.2020 will hopefully see us rid ourselves of the dull, listless vision of the early '00s.

Only what, 10 more years of hell before some decent technology finally comes back?

what monitor do you use?

Everything uses srgb so I don't really care.

Enjoy bad colors then :)

the only display in my house that i can't get this to function on is a an old oem crt

all of my lcd displays are total garbage, so i'm going to assume if you can see this, it's a symptom of a garbage display
all of my lcd displays are garbage
as all lcds are indeed, garbage

If you can get Netflix, Funimation, or more than .001% of webpages to use something else I would consider it. Because as of right now the only place I will ever see that profile in use is one guy shitposting on Sup Forums.

please respond

None of those things use sRGB though...

They all use CIE1976...

How do you know Netflix isn't using srgb?

Honest question, the video player only says that its using the encv codec.

nvm googled cie1976 you were just fucking with me.

kek ignored you probably use some fucking garbage monitor and you're in here bragging about muh 1ms
guaranteed you don't know the first thing about displays

My display isn't 1ms, I didn't respond to you because I don't know what monitor I have and I don't care enough to check for you or even reply. But since you are so butthurt here is your response. Eat a dick.

IPS is pretty shitty tech though, those horrible 1000:1 contrast ratios make me want to kill myself whenever I look at one.

so you're in a a thread about monitors, talking about shit you don't know or understand, with no experience on actual panel testing? AND you're too retarded to even know what you yourself are using while giving advice at the same time? don't you think it's time to stop posting?

>he fell for the IPS meme

Just kidding, but people think switching to IPS will be mind-blowing when its really not. The biggest advantage of IPS is color accuracy and viewing angles. So unless you were using a shit TN panel, it won't make too much of a difference in terms of image quality.

If I didn't know that IPS panels bleed backlight or understand that they did then how did I post my comment??!?!

BTFO

Viewing angles is the easiest way to see the difference between TN and IPS.

Plug them in together and them move your head up and down above and below the monitors.

You'll notice the TN panel colors get completely fucked up depending on which angle you view it from, while the IPS stays much better.

put them side by side and look at the difference, should be pretty apparent

Yes, that's because TN sucks.

Really depends on what you are doing.

If you are viewing any kind of dark image, using a desktop with a dark background, watching any dark anime or movie, playing a dark game, the backlight bleed is going to just shit all over any image quality benefits.

>the backlight bleed is going to just shit all over any image quality benefits.
It's really not that bad. People on the internet just like to make everything dramatic.
>I'd rather kill myself than use a TN screen!
>I'd rather kill myself than deal with backlight bleed
>I'd rather kill myself than use an iPhone
etc.

Yes, that's why I'm using S-PVA
Your picture does not show any contrast ratio

It doesn't really bother me but if I had to choose between IPS and a nice TN I would take the TN because movies and games look better without grey blacks.

I can see the logo perfectly when I open it on my nexus 6

Good colors?

lol this, op probably have lcd/led pc display not hdtv/TV.

Stop posting, retard

Just because bad back lights don't bother you that doesn't mean people are being over dramatic. It means you either don't care about the lower quality, you don't care how shit they can be, or you don't have great eyes

>It means you either don't care about the lower quality, you don't care how shit they can be, or you don't have great eyes
>it is impossible to not be bothered by completely tolerable backlight bleed
You're right everyone should just not use computers unless they can afford $5k OLED panels every 4 months after they yellow burn because using anything else would be fucking eye cancer!!!1.

Hes just trying to fill the stinking hole in his soul where that 500 bucks used to be.

>stopped reading here. i bought it because it was well reviewed and had what i wanted (IPS, 1440p, 25" or greater).
Want does not equal need. Why do you NEED IPS, not want?

>Why do you NEED IPS
I sit like shit and viewing angles are important.

I can see this fine on an uncalibrated vg248qe

That's because your TN piece of shit is showing shit it's not supposed to.

Is the logo not supposed to show up on a monitor that displays proper colors?

yep, at least not on normal srgb ones.

Nexus 6 has an IPS display IIRC

Wait a minute. I only see the logo on my browser, I don't see it when I download it and view it on the desktop. Is the browser color calibrated differently?

or get both cause they exist

instead of fixing your shitty sitting you instead bought a meme monitor?

how fucking retarded are you? the first thing I bought was a new table and chair, monitor was last on my list.

Now go fuck yourself, faggot.

I have a samsung PLS, factory calibrated. The colors are fucking fantastic and they pop out with the glossy screen. Blacks are shit thou

Give it a week and try to go back, you'll notice.

Holy shit you need to get off Sup Forums and back to Sup Forums or Sup Forums.
Each reply you make in this thread just makes you even dumber, I didnt think it possible but you are proving me wrong

Sup Forums is smarter than Sup Forums

>that light bleeding

Same, I see it on everything except windows photo viewer, even paint works.

You just added another notch.

>mfw my shitty lcd 21.5" screens that i bought for $120 each a couple years ago don't show the logo

lul, i am upgrading to 1440p this year anyway

watch a colourful anime like nichijou
bakabt.me/torrent/170362/nichijou-my-ordinary-life-bd-1080p-dess

>makes thread on how ips is amazing
>Doesnt even know if his tv was a TN or not
Literally you are the last person who should be giving out any advice

I got two of em, I like em

>Sup Forums on wide monitor
>civ on narrow one
nice b8 m8

That was just a test to see how CIV5 acted at 1440x2560 natively. Worked pretty decently.

I almost bought one of these monitors on sale a few months ago...

Did I fuck OP? Is it really as good as I think it is?

Am I being trolled or what? What's special about this picture?
My shittiest cheapest TN monitor displays it fine.

kill yourself
Yeah it's pretty nice.

Saved it with my displays color profile.

im viewing this on a TN and can only see a red square .. what exactly is this supposed to prove?

>have a TN panel monitor
>can clearly see the logo without any issues or color bleeding
>haven't even calibrated it

Groovy.

use it 5 minutes, go back to a TN panel. TN panels are shit, no matter how many muh megahertz it has, which only makes them bearable.
If you can't see the difference after that, you could just end yourself.

Light bleed has to be pretty egregious to be noticeable/a real problem. Bad enough that you should be going for an RMA if it's a problem for you.

Normal light bleed is only noticeable on a pitch black screen in a totally dark room. I don't run into these conditions too often because I have a TV for watching shows and movies at night.

TN has no problem displaying that.
If you don't see the logo it just means the reds are too high on your monitor and you need to reduce them a bit.

Grab some high quality porn photo sets.
