anyone here using it? is it okay or does it fucking suck?

you looking to buy a note 4 brand new or refurbished? its pretty cheap on ebay.

repostan:
/spg/, what's the best smartphone under or at 4.5'' (ish) screen size (new or used)? Asking for a friend who's uncomfortable with anything bigger.
pls no iPhone either.

xperia z3 or z5 compact?

Guys, my brand new Note7 has scratches. What do?

Which specs matter on a smartphone and which ones are negligible? I want to make a thorough comparison to get the best persona bang for my buck. And to satisfy my autism, truth be told.

How legit is the move to a 3 year cycle for the iPhones?

Should have seen this first:
youtube.com/watch?v=571pu66vEBc

and their BS response:
androidauthority.com/corning-responds-samsung-galaxy-note-7-scratch-test-video-711210/

>The test that was conducted in the video is not a bonafide industry test. It's using Mohs hardness picks but it's in an uncontrolled manner

>we are scratching it wrong.

It'd be absolutely hilarious when the phone gets released and people start reporting the STYLUS scratches the phone.

“The glass is designed to improve the drop performance and not necessarily designed to improve the scratch performance,” Amin told me. "

That entirely depends on what you look for in a phone primarily. I wanted a phone with a small screen and a good camera; my autism made me buy a Xiaomi Mi5

Is the ZTE Axon Elite a good cop for 189€?
Upgrading from a 2nd Gen Moto G.

Let's start with storage space. How much do I really need if I make the 64 GB SD card the default location for installing apps?

>if you're a gaming babby
processor (SoC for the autists here)

>if you constantly need to switch between quite a few apps
RAM

>if you type a lot
big screen

>if you read a lot
big screen, battery life

>if you're a busybody who's constantly doing other things at the same time, writing, computer work, cooking, drinking coffee on the toilet, wanking
small screen, so you can free up your other hand

>if you use it mainly for calls
call quality, battery life

>if you use it for navigation a lot, especially in-car
big screen, battery life

>audiophile (listen with headphones)
a phone with a good DAC - e.g. HTC 10

>normal person / all rounder
battery life

>want software longevity (official updates and security patches for the longest possible time)
Nexus

>want hardware longevity
removable battery + spare batteries (switch after 2 years or noticeable reduction in capacity, not constantly)
pretty much just the LG G5 at this point

Not sure why you'd make the SD card the default storage location, puts a strain on the card, it's better to use the card specifically for other media, at least, impo anyway. Should you choose to take my suggestion into consideration, then, you won't need anything more than 16 GB internal. Otherwise, to answer your question, probably 32 GB internal.

In US using boost mobile
Looking for at least 3GB RAM, decent CPU, and 32-64GB internal and microSD slot
At least 1080p screen but it doesn't need to be higher
Don't care about camera/microphone/speaker quality
Would prefer physical buttons on the bottom bar
Budget of around 200 maybe a little higher

thanks in advance

You will probably never even run into problems with 16 GB phones without a mSD-slot. People that complain about storage are usually autismos

Thanks for the info AND the semen demon.

Hardware longevity is my main concern. Are you suggesting that using batteries for a long time may damage the hardware itself aside from the battery?

Obviously for storage concerns and to avoid paying a premium for internal storage.

I don't get this. You mean 16 GB internal if I don't use the SD card as internal storage and 32 GB if I do?

using batteries for a long time wont damage the hardware itself, it will result in a reduction of the batteries capacity. So you should get a few replacement batteries on the side.

Is anyone besides Blackberry working on a phone with a keyboard?

boostmobile.com/shop/phones/samsung-galaxy-j7/

My phone, until it died, had 8 GB of storage and ran into these problems sometimes.

What about this? I root it, as expected, I make a partition in the SD card for apps and move there the ones that don't require a lot of speed or are rarely used.

This way I can get a 8 GB phone instead of a 16 GB one. Yes, I'm on a budget.

howtogeek.com/114667/how-to-install-android-apps-to-the-sd-card-by-default-move-almost-any-app-to-the-sd-card/

Ok. I was worried the battery could havekilled the phone. That would be a dark world to live in.

>Are you suggesting that using batteries for a long time may damage the hardware itself aside from the battery?

No, no damage to the rest of the hardware. But outside of dropping it and shattering the screen like a retard, the battery is what starts to go on a phone first of all. And we have reached a point where the processor and RAM on even a mid-range phone today should be good for a few years so I wouldn't worry too much about that. Thus, for hardware longevity, a replaceable battery is probably the most useful thing.

I just bought a Moto G 4th gen, switching from LG G3

Have I made a huge mistake? Truth to be told I need the dual sim feature and volume buttons on the side that Moto has

agreed. I survived for four years on a galaxy ace 2 with 768mb of RAM and a duel-core NovaThor U8500 on android 2.4.2.

How is it? thinking of getting one too.

It's just.. I try to find things like changing the soft button positions on the settings, and then I realize they are a LG feature that is missing from stock Android.

Not going to root right away

Yeah but does it overheat? people said it does when playing or using the camera.
And how is performance and lag etc. that low end SD617 worries me.

Just switched to the Note 7 from an iPhone 6 and the battery life on this thing sucks compared to my iPhone. Is it like this for all Galaxy phones or did the AT& T store just sell me one with a shitty battery?

I just got it and I have never played for a second on a smartphone. Browsing seems okay

will s7 edge get an aosp eventually or should i just get another phone instead?

note 7 has a smaller battery than s7 edge. you should get like 4.5 hours screen on time anyway though. return it if you don't or keep hoping an update fixes it.

retrun it
see

Never going to happen. nova+goodlock is closest you'll get.

Mine has no scratches and it even fell out of my pocket, fell into the crack of my recliner, and hit the floor. And I've been using the shit out of the stylus.

guys, i bought the zenfone 2 laser and the battery is kill, it doesn't last even a day without using wi fi or mobile data, i dissabled any app that was well known for consuming battery and still nothing, should i just give up and replace it? 180 jewuros thrown away just like that?

>fell out of my pocket, fell into the crack of my recliner, and hit the floor.

It has a large resolution and that makes it discharge the battery much faster, whereas iPhones have a smaller screen which probably only spends 30% the amount of the note 7. I still run the s5 and have no issues with the battery.

Can't you send it back?

play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.macropinch.pearl
check the health status from the app.

I told everyone for months that all ZF2 models are pieces of shit and yet people still buy them. replace this shit asap.

Well i had the 6+ guess I should have specified

the screen is pretty durable against cracks. the back cracks easily though.

My brother is about to buy an used Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Anyone has this phone and could share an opinion?

So general note 7 consensus?

Only complaints I'm hearing are battery life and the screen scratches easily, which can be fixed with a screen protector anyways

>i told you so guy
don't be that guy mate. it makes you lose people.

/spg/ what is that one model that may have been posted here
it was marketed to audiophiles or whatever and like their main selling point was that it had 2 3.5mm sockets

>ZTE
No. Almost any other chink phone will be better.

So is Apple going to seriously remove the headphone jack on their next phone? Why are they so retarded?

I wish this thinness meme would end. Thin is nice but when it effects durability and features, enough is enough desu

I fell asleep one night and woke up with my phone underneath me. The screen had a vertical green line on the left side. It also began to flicker. I charged my phone and the screen was brightened. It was still noticeably dim. I put my phone in some rice overnight, and it did nothing. I took it to an AT&T specialist and they determined that some wires might be disconnected. They ordered a replacement for me and I mailed the phone to AT&T. AT&T mailed the phone back, stating that the phone was water damaged and I had to pay over $700 to cover the cost of the phone. Can I repair my phone? If not, what are my options? Here is a link for reference youtube.com/watch?v=4k_zMRZZpyg

yes, but i'm afraid they won't do jackshit to it, maybe put a new battery and that's all, after reading many reviews i think the software is the problem and if they'll fix it they will make a firmware/software update
the phone already ahs good battery indicators and saving gadgets
unfortunately i don't browse Sup Forums and only looked for reviews after i bought it
self reminder: never buy things on a whim

on that note which phone offers a great battery duration? i know oukitel should be the best but i would want one that could be bought directly from a store

>gsmarena.com/corning_defends_gorilla_glass_5_in_light_of_galaxy_note7_scratch_tests-news-20060.php

>Corning now says that what we likely have seen on the video is likely to be “metallic transfer” Which happens when a harder material’s friction with a softer material causes the softer one to transfer onto the harder one.

You mean scratching? Because that's scratching.

I meant return it. Not for repairs. Just return it and get your shekels back.

What about getting it fixed by a 3rd party?

Also always put your phone on your nightstand or anywhere your fat ass can't break it in your sleep.

nod possible, more than a month passed

Look at
gsmarena.com/battery-test.php3

And see which ones are available at your physical stores.

don't buy a used phone, it's disgusting. would you wear someone else's used condom? someone else's used clothes?

there are also dangers of damage hidden at first but definitely there, hence the seller wanting to sneakily sell it.

no warranty.

and last, they will hardly / won't be updated any more.

too many pitfalls. get a current midrange phone new instead.

maybe i should buy the zenfone max, not to pricy too

Yes and people will love it. Soon after Samsung and all the Chinese companies will copy them and the headphone jack will be gone.

This is the one time I doubt people will defend it. If it gets enough backlash, Samsungs new phone will skyrocket in sales even more since its baby's first android and has a headphone jack.

My Nexus 5 is on its last leg and I need to replace it. I'm considering the Nexus 6p or the oneplus3. Is it worth it to get the 6p still?

is buying a galaxy s7 to wank while taking a bath worth it

Are you a masochist? don't buy a fucking zenfone, they are all shit.

No, wait for new Nexii in October.

i can't spend too much, 200 euros is the maximum i can go to, maybe i should consider the oukitel, tough i'm not sure if this chinese thing will satisfy me

>200 euros
You can get an RN3P for that much with an equal good battery and much better SoC.

I don't think my phones gonna make it that long. If the rumors of them launching on the 22nd are true I might be able to hold off

Which one under 200€?

Just wait and see how long if you can keep it on life support. If it dies then just buy a shitty flip phone and use that for like a month. I'm sure you'll survive.

Moar nexus news in OP pls

So, homosexuals: galaxy s6, nexus 6p or lg v10 - what will it be?

thisJust get a Blu R1 HD for $90 until you order a proper phone.

i have a lg g5 and cant understand what use the vr headset is.
why does a phone need a vr? what apps even use it?

anyone

You can wank with much older phones.

>2 3.5mm sockets
For what purpose? for your 4 ears?
To listen with your gay boyfriend?

HTC 10 is the best audiophile flagship atm.

One plus 3 or axon 7?

So far I think YouTube has a kind of neat thing going with it but that's all I can think of

You can probably play angry birds or some shit in vr but I haven't looked too far into it

but waterproof

I don't know if I should root my Nexus 5x. Got it two weeks ago and with my regular usage a single charge can run for 2 to 3 days. But my regular usage is pretty low, I browse for an hour a day with minimal text and phone calls. If the usage was any heavier I am afraid it won't last long. I rooted my Nexus 4 mainly for battery management and I am wondering if rooting the 5X will be worth it.

>90
Isn't it $60 on Amazon right now?
You have the wiki.installgentoo.com/index.php/Chink_shit_general/Phones which is in OP. Xiaomi and Oukitel are probably the best quality chink phone brands, then you have 2nd tier Leagoo and Cubot. Not sure about anything else, but I do know ZTE are terrible.

It's a shame the HTC 10 is so fucking ugly

Reminds me of the early iPhones

Moto G 3rd gen?

to record or some shit idk i just want to find the name

Those actually ain't scratches but residues of something the stronk gorilla glass 5 scratched.

>Isn't it $60 on Amazon right now?
Only with prime IIRC.

What are your toughts on the lg g5 design? To me it doesnt look like a flagship phone at all, more like a cheap alcatel

How did they fuck up this badly, I thought gorilla glass was the strongest shit on the market. I mean I'll take scratches over cracks, but goddamn.

It's easily fixable with a screen protector, but still what the hell

I took the 200€ budget limit as reference (except with leagoo), I'm not sure if the more expensive ZTE phones are better than the cheaper ones which commonly clog up and break down after 9 months of usage, and usually start to cripple around the time their warranty expires.
Oh yeah, just checked it now.

seems pretty nice but dont they lag or something?

It's water resistant, not water proof. also it's old and shitty.

Check out BV6000s if you want full IP68 waterproof device on a budget.

nice specs shit design\build quality

>Tons of articles are already defending not having headphone jacks
>They're saying the audio quality will be better
How delusional can these people be

I'm using this to make a shortlist.
productchart.com/smartphones/

But there are still too many phones.

Tell me which brands are good and which ones shit so I can slash the long list into a short one, please.

How important are efs backups before you start tinkering with yout androids. Does it matter if you backup efs over a custom kernel?

Just Google "LG G5" and the top news results are about how bad and cheap this phone is - I'm still using the G3 and love it but I was hoping on upgrading to the next LG G# phone...apparently not this year.

Tru. V10 however, is way stronger and looks a lot better

v20 when

The removable bottom thing seems pretty cool but I've heard terrible things, as said
