Does anyone know the original price(s) of the Type II Seiko quartz watches? (The Penis Quartz)

And this, kids, is why you shouldn't go to the pool with your watch. Or at least with a bracelet.

To the guy from the last thread that asked about how my new blue Mako USA II looked in the sun: it looks fantastic. Noticed the guy at the drivethrough at Chick Fil A peepin it as he handed me my food. Probably thought it was some cheap rolle knockoff though

like 25k - 30k jpy id mid 70s

I don't know sorry.
I paid $40 for this one, came with the 5606 so they probably weren't very expensive

can anyone give me any recommendations on a skeleton face watch around 200 shekels or so? i have seen plenty, but they are all made by questionable manufacturers. i just want a nice looking, well functioning watch that i can see the guts on.

I have the same watch, is there anyway to repair the finish?

hahahahah, it's funny you mention that almost all my watches, but one (not including my G-Shock) have bracelet bands. Only 1 has a leather band.

That bitch enjoys sea water

Okay, sank you.

Sweat, I attracted another tripfag with nothing to say.
I'm pretty sure there isn't. Buying a new bracelet would be cheaper even if there were, most certainly.

yeah, I will end fucking it up.

It's a fucking Seiko...

And you're a fucking moron...
Your point?

I am not being a little bitch whining about scratching a $100 tool, that's my point.

It's €300 and that's beyond the point, moron. Would you still say that if it were a €5000 Seiko?

I'm not sure what happened, did it get banged a lot or what?

It probably touched the bottom of the pool and the wall.

captain cheapskate reporting for duty.

>crying about 300 Euroshits
You keep crying like a little bitch, I am getting tired of it. Good job getting me to reply twice though, grow the fuck up. Things that you wear/use tend to get worn.

What a fucking retard.
You filled my daily retard quota just before I was going to bed, congratulations.

HNNNNGGGHHH I cannot wait for this thing to get here, why can't it be Wednesday...

i like your pokemon cards

>owns an AR disassembly mat
>doesn't own an AR
How edgy of you.

Now kiss.

Is spring drive better than mechanical? How so?

Spring Drive has an electronic circuit to regulate accuracy. Technically its more accurate but a lot more things can go wrong. Overall a Rolex will only lose 1-2sec a day, spring drive brings it down to maybe 0.75 sec. It's up to you if the trade off is worth it.

How many seconds does quartz lose?

Around that much. Digital is where its at though. Seiko also has a quartz that loses/gains no more than 10 seconds a year.

Quartz is 0.5 sec a day.

I think its higher, from what I read its around 2+/- average. There are some quartz that is +/-0 like this one.

No Quartz is more accurate than mechanical or spring drive or whatever.

I don't see the problem

Congratulations, your watch is now vintage

I am not disagreeing with you, however an average quartz is +/-2 seconds. We are talking like shitty Guess to cheapo Seikos. Of course there are more accuracy quartz, like pic related which is my beater which is 1/20,000th of a second a day or +/- 10 Seconds a year.

>my quartz is special

No.

>a typical quartz clock or wristwatch will gain or lose 15 seconds per 30 days (within a normal temperature range of 5 °C/41 °F to 35 °C/95 °F) or less than a half second clock drift per day when worn near the body.

Digital and quartz are two different things.

Quartz is like 1minute per month for absolute dogshit chinese 1 dollar movements. Sometimes worse. That is around Rolex accuracy or worse.

+-30 seconds a month for something like a F91W, one of Casio's least accurate watches. About the same or slightly worse than some very high end expensive watches.

Meanwhile most any quartz more expensive than that will be around twice as accurate or better, +-15 seconds a month. So like your 40 dollar g-shock is there. That's the same as a Spring Drive, +-15 seconds a month.

Quartz nearly destroyed the mechanical watch industry and Switzerland but they managed to ruse some people into still paying through the nose for their less accurate watches as evidenced in this thread.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quartz_crisis

I don't know whether I love or hate this design

Why did you think COSC was founded a few years after Quartz was established. I'm not a quartz guy because of batteries, however having to pay $700-$1000 every 5 years because lol Rolex is kinda dumb. Maybe this is an avenue Rolex should have pushed if they weren't so fucking jews. A watch that requires zero service except if the owner screws it up.

Why are people surprised at this?

Do you fags only wear your steel bracelets while fine dining or something?

Every single steel bracelet i have ever owned gets scratched to shit no matter how careful I am with it.

The best way to avoid the scratches is to not wear it.

maybe he just doesn't keep his AR at his computer desk

How can you even tell what type of mat that is?

recent seiko releases look oversized to me.

Tell me about DIAPAL

Diamond is harder than sapphire.

It's interesting, but I don't think it's ultimately going to make a significant different to a watch long term.

Doesn't sinn tout it as not needing lubrication due to the increased hardness?

Pretty good watch thread going on reddit

>reddit.com/r/facepalm/comments/4ypjaz/well_what_is_it_used_for_then/

It's still being effected over time. And the lubrication in other parts of the watch are still wearing out as normal (or at least normal for Sinn.)

Don't get me wrong, it's cool.

Would you ever buy a watch from Etsy? What are the odds it can't keep time? Its $15 too

Oh id say its pretty high...

>using a tool/sports watch as a tool/for sports
>the tool/equipment suffers surface wear from said strenuous activity
>expects pristine, jewelry-like appearance thereafter

Why does he wear the mask?

>+-30 seconds a month for something like a F91W, one of Casio's least accurate watches. About the same or slightly worse than some very high end expensive watches.

I'm really hoping mine keeps this up. This little shit has grown on me.

It will. Mechfags highly underrate Quartz's to justify their purchases.

You could always buy a 5610 and enjoy a +0.00s/d perpetual calendar auto DST world time alarm chronograph countdown timer for ~+/-15 years

>buying a children's watch
No

Mine is +4.5s since I synced the seconds at least 2 DST changes ago.

If it's doing well it will probably keep doing well. It's just that an F91W can leave the factory doing +-30 seconds per month and still be in spec.

You don't know what you're talking about

It's a tool. It does it's job. I don't need it to be a fashion statement, thanks.

Got one in black too.

>logging timekeeping daily for a Quartz watch
Your reaction with the "measure" button is going to have a greater variance than actual time lost or gained.

Call me retarded but why don't they average the seconds when referring to how much time a watch losses or gains in a month?

what

Who cares. I type on my desk at work and my planet ocean is scuffed to shit.

This is a 300€ fucking seiko you dumbshit not some Steinshit piece of shit.

Hi there!

You seem to have made a bit of a mistake in your post. Luckily, the users of Sup Forums are always willing to help you clear this problem right up! You appear to have used a tripcode when posting, but your identity has nothing at all to do with the conversation! Whoops! You should always remember to stop using your tripcode when the thread it was used for is gone, unless another one is started! Posting with a tripcode when it isn't necessary is poor form. You should always try to post anonymously, unless your identity is absolutely vital to the post that you're making!

Now, there's no need to thank me - I'm just doing my bit to help you get used to the anonymous image-board culture!

Yeah, I know. I do it for shits and giggles along with whatever other watch I'm keeping track of.

>mechanicals

Why not use a sun dial probably more accurate.

Why would you assume I don't own an AR? You came the conclusion that I don't own an AR based on 1. I own an AR tekmat and 2. an AR is not in the photo consisting of less than a square foot of space on my computer desk.

Are you actually retarded?

Pro-tip - place it crown-up overnight to lose time.

You should consider getting a timegrapher. Extremely useful for regulating.

The lume is shit at night.

Instead of saying +/-30secs a month why don't they say: an average of +/- 1 secs a month (assuming the watch is +/-1s a day).

I though this was fake but it's actually real.

It just makes sense from a matter of scale. If you're getting down 1 one second or subsecond measurements per day why not go to month. Similarly pushing down to seconds per year.

My other vostok. Rate is decent as long as the crown is facing down.

With such a small measurement, margin of error increases.

I'll try that out, thanks.

How much do those go for?

Okay what does /wt/ think about the Perpetual 39mm that just came out last year. I just love the look of this watch, but there's that stigma of owning an "entry level Rolex."

The only Rolex I'd consider.

>How much do those go for?
$130 from acetimer.com

the blue or purple face lookk nice, but rrp of aud$7200. ouch.

Nothing wrong at all with this Rolex, its actually one of their most innovative models. However I prefer this color over the stock silver/blue. One of the negative is that it does not look good on a Nato like the Subs or GMT.

The MSRP is only that.

>what's the date today Tom?
>I don't know

I wouldn't mind having one, but for that price I'd prefer a snow frake.

How the fuck did you know my name is Tom?

Sank you.

why aren't these threads in /fa/

Sometimes we discuss quartz watches which actually are technology.

Fuck off, retard.

The quality of posts is extremely important to this community. Contributors are encouraged to provide high-quality images and informative comments.

Outdated technology though. Babbage's mechanical computer is a work of art and technically impressive, but it's outdated technology and not discussed on Sup Forums in computer threads. Thermo-compensated quartz is the only technologically relevant thing in wristwatch technology nowadays.

>but it's outdated technology and not discussed on Sup Forums in computer threads
Sup Forums doesn't know technology, mechanical or otherwise. What a surprise. It has nothing to do with it being 'outdated.'

S-shut up.

Sup Forums doesn't talk about technology, Sup Forums only cares about "tech"
nobody knows shit about actual cutting edge technology

Thermocompensated quartz is 40 years old

This.

>Muh first Horween shell cordovan strap
Tfw in between holes. Maybe I'll switch the buckles to the Seiko deployant and use the next larger hole... or just lose a few more pounds. I gotta say fäms, despite my initial meh review, the watch is growing on me. It's just fun to look at. I'm looking for excuses to break my daily rotation and wear this instead of the regularly scheduled Swiss/German watch.
